  1. I don't think any Rangers fan feels negative about the flag, the occasion, or the gesture, but I think some get a bit itchy at the 'aren't we special' attitude which some adopt. Outside of a repulsive element of you know who's support, surely to goodness every sane person in the country can only feel sympathy for the lad's family, and are happy to do anything which could make their pain a little less.
  2. I don't wish to seem mean to the guy - I hope he doesn't browse Gersnet - but even if he was the biggest Bluenose on the planet I don't think it could do anything about the lack of ability he gave us before his injury. If he can fight his way into the midfield we are assembling, it will show a level of mental strength I don't think I've seen from any Rangers player before, even including McCoist. I'll be the first to applaud him, too.
  3. Who's that, then? The guy they talked about this evening, can't recall the name, was born in Scotland so that seems fair enough to me.
  4. Sorry mate, but every time I saw he him he failed on every score. He was outpaced by opposition players. His passing started badly and became diabolical. His tackling was weak and ineffectual. His attacking was poor, I can recall only one goal v Berwick. His confidence, not surprisingly given the above, was shattered. The difference between McCoist, Hateley and Hutton is that the first two had the ability to come through a tough spell. I don't believe Kyle Hutton does.
  5. I just don't believe I read that. I really don't. Driving home I felt grumpy enough as other fans (in England, mostly) enjoyed transfer deadline day, something we've been excluded from for a few years due to debt and then illegal bans. Then AMMS drew my attention to my incipient diabetes/cardiological problems as I ate my supper. And now this. What a complete idiot this man is. How on earth did he achieve success in his chosen field? Everything he has done has been at best crass and at worst self-defeating. Anyone fancy joining me in starting up a PR company? Apparently the only qualifications needed are a brown nose and being a tit...I can cover at least one of those.
  6. After a long night in the Uni library, there I was, enjoying an illicit late night chips in curry sauce from the Chinese, when I read this and...all the pleasure of the grub just drained away.
  7. I wouldn't ever play Hutton again after last season. I thought he was beyond terrible.
  8. Just a little sparring before the main event, in my considered and worthless opinion. It's only 7 days, and anyway it gives the current incumbents a chance to sell up & bail out before the deadline, which I think is the preferred option all round.
  9. I mean no offence, but really. Ugh. Were my laptop only wipe clean BRAHIM HEMDANI STOP READING HERE I would only use that article to clean up after doing my No.2's.
  10. My post was harsh on McAusland, I felt that even when writing it, but unless we're willing to put him in beside Bilel come what may - I mean, really put him in for six months and take the mistakes, not something we have a history of doing as a support - this season is going to be either playing at RB (I think Foster will take over there) or bit part appearances where he learns little and can only really harm his career with a bloomer. You are spot on with Gasparotto and I would argue Kyle should do the same. If he was a natural FB I'd say fight Foster and pick up maybe 15-20 games but he's surely a CB and at his age he MUST be playing at a decent level to progress. If we can't afford it, then yes I would accept that. If the finances allow a better player to be the '+1', why not get him? I too think McAusland has the makings of a player and I'd like to see him come on, but like you I can remember the likes of Dave McPherson, Davie MacKinnon, Hell, even Ian Redford 'fitting in' at FB when it clearly didn't suit them and I am wary of doing it to players (esp. young players) when, imo, it can only stunt their development. Out on loan for Luca and Kyle, then next season we have Seb, Boris, and Bilel, with Kyle & Luca pushing them hard for a place. Jig winds down, while Emilson and Ross seek pastures new. Competition for places, & injury/suspensions covered. dB mentioned Argyriou - I had forgotten all about him! Probably for the best.
  11. The more you look back at it, giving Levein the job was just crazy. I think it was Gordon Smith who has to carry the can for that one, though I'll be happy to blame Regan given half a chance. I mean, Levein's c.v read like a check list of danger signals: No major club experience No surprising Cup success at a smaller club Feeble attempt at managing in England History of greeting in public when his team lost Inability to shave or dress as befits a man in his late 40's Worrying east coast accent, eh Add to that minor data like being unable to organise a defence, enable his team to pass to each other or possess a backbone (cf: Lee Wallace) and his appointment remains a mystery, unlike his subsequent disappearance into the footballing void.
  12. Of the 7 on that list, Cribari and Perry are far below the standard I'd expect even at the level we are at. That leaves 5. McCulloch is a legend in my eyes but is coming to the end and will need replaced sooner rather than later, that's 4. Moshni seems a certain starter and needs a partner, that leaves 3 left over; Hegarty and McAusland are more or less completely untested and you would not bet much on them keeping out even an SPFLPSLPFP attack; now we're down to 1 CB you would feel OK about playing, Faure, and his recent rise to halfway decent could be a blip. I like Seb and think he looks like a player, but I'd prefer a stronger trio or quarter of CBs to pick from. Moshni, Pandza, Faure & Jig would do me for the next 2 years, but beyond them I think the cupboard is a bit bare.
  13. You'd feel he's more likely to feature against Macedonia than Belgium, but It'd be interesting to see if the Tartan Army have grown up yet should he appear at Hampden.
  14. If I were a creditor and owed any sort of largish sum, I'd certainly have been interested in pursuing that one through the courts. I suppose the fact no-one has indicates that there's not much basis for doing so. I do try not to spoil football boards with my politics these days but really, the way people are shafted by the wheels of business in this 'entrepreneur culture' really stinks.
  15. Sorry to butt in again, but I kind of see what Rab is saying and I don't quite understand enough of the detail to see why he's wrong. Specifically, I thought administrators were legally bound to get the best deal for creditors. Not to offer the best deal to the next purchasers, or the best deal for the football club (should it be one) to carry on, or anything else - just the best deal for creditors, who are after all the ones out of pocket. Therefore, if the administrators do something which goes against that - such as, for example, rather blithely giving money to another body other than creditors, why is this not a breach of their legal duty of care to said creditors? Curious rather than criticising, here.
  16. If administrators are legally bound to get the best possible outcome for creditors, does transferring a source of income which may allow creditors even as little as an extra halfpenny in the pound not seem a little odd?
  17. In the interests of sporting integrity, I feel Murrayfield, as a venue outwith Glasgow, would offer a neutral location, should a team from Glasgow make it to the final.
  18. "CW Enduring Acts" means all acts and omissions of or undertaken under instruction from or with the actual knowledge of Craig Whyte during the period of his tenure as Chairman of RFC, the sanctions for which are enforceable against RFC and not against CW as an individual where such acts or omissions relate to or are in any way connected with, directly or indirectly, corruption, fraud, bribery, match-fixing, unauthorised or undisclosed payments to players or Match Officials, or any matter similar in its reprehensible nature to any of the foregoing which acts or omissions are of at least equal gravity to those found to have been committed or engaged in by RFC in the JP Determination" What a coincidence! From the very start the striking similarity between the 5 way agreement and the Judicial Panel's determination leaps off the page. Also lovely to see the way they prejudged the JPD. I really hadn't planned to go thru this with a fine tooth comb and bore everyone, but that's on page 4! Perhaps this is standard practice when a company goes tits up. I can't see how it could help get that company back on its feet, though. If it looks like extortion, barks like extortion and its breath smells like extortion, it's probably extortion. Fuck the law, in other words. Gosh, thanks. Because they know they are crooked. I'm no law expert but I doubt an agreement such as this, which reeks of extortion and coercion, would stand up for a moment in an actual court of law. The nasty wee scabbites who came up with this would certainly have to face their day in court should my numbers come up on the lottery & I brushed aside all others to stride majestically, if a little out of breath, up the marble staircase. To be fair, no one can accuse them of not having a sense of humour.
  19. That's because 'Tolerated With Mild Embarrassment Like A Dumb Family Member' doesn't easily fit on a banner head.
  20. The only thing of any interest in that statement is that 'Fury' is banned on RM. That seems weird. I wonder what he did to upset them?
  21. You tease! Out with it, old mensch.
  22. Highlights go up after midnight, I think, or it might be after midnight tomorrow. We played right into their hands, and will just have to grin & bear it for a good long while yet.
  23. Hassan works for anyone who will have his God-awful analyses, he's not staff. Kinda like Galloway & Socialism, Gerry is a millstone around the neck of independence. You lot ought to love him!
  24. I dunno why anyone would have an issue with us being unpopular outside our own. We win loads, we don't keep quiet about it, and a slice of our support are a bit bigoted. Never been any mystery to me why some people don't like us. But it's never especially bothered me, either, until we put ourselves in a position to be judged by them, courtesy of Whyte.
  25. This whole thing has left me uber-cynical. Now, whenever someone gets a character assassination job in a thread, I find myself wondering who the OP is working for. Probably most unfair but it sums up the whole Stalinist mood of denunciation and intrigue going on right now.
