  1. That's a good point, cb. Plus, there's a world of a difference from wanting to see Whyte in jail and wanting to see a director of the club behaving like the bouncer of a scabby Greenock nightclub.
  2. First Brahim's pal, and now these classless cretins. Just contempt for the fans, who are now apparently happy to buy into Easdale style thuggery. You really reflect well on the club, Bill. What a credit you are to Rangers.
  3. I was perfectly happy with David Murray until he sold to Craig Whyte. Given that I was happy to cheer us on to mucho successo, I'm not about to start bleating now, after the fact, that a worldwide economic slump left us shafted. As to other clubs, the lad at Southampton, and the boss of Swansea, are figures we can only dream of. Over your way, Hoeness and/or Beckenbauer seem able to generate success, not forgetting, closer to home, the behemoth of integrity and decency that is Turnbull Hutton. NB: He mentioned himself in some interview or other that he hadn't dealt with something or other because he was away. It was probably very minor, but I dislike the way the 120 excuse comes up in order to say nothing, but doesn't apply when it's time for the gluhwein.
  4. Might want to paraphrase a tad, old chap. Bottom line is, if you want to invest your cash (like any of this operates on a cash basis!) in a football club you are surely aware that the 'stakeholders' - fans, to normal people - will be far more aggressively interested in who you are, what your aims are, what you are up to. There's simply no prospect of wandering in, buying a chunk of shares, issuing vacuous statements and expecting 'stakeholders' to think 'fair enough'. And given our recent history, we are the touchy fanbase par exemplar. If yer man is under the illusion (delusion) that he can buy low, disappear off the radar and then sell at a tidy profit some years down the line, with no questions asked, he's a bit optimistic. Bluntly, a two or three sentence mission statement - while it may address some issues, tho I don't quite see how it does that myself - raises more questions than it answers, and comes across to at least one fan as dismissive, especially given the nature of the questions asked. Even 'I can't go into detail, but...' would have been better.
  5. You do get slightly irked at the level of contempt shown for the paying customer. Urgent 120 day plan! Must focus on that! Except...he took a Christmas holiday out of the country. People are entitled to holidays, I have no beef with that. It only gets annoying when the great 120 day review is trotted out when it suits, but can be put on hold for a sunshine break when it suits as well. It's either super urgent, in which case Xmas should have been spent ripping through the paperwork with precious few other distractions, or it can wait and we should be getting rather better answers about the short & long term. Maybe the last few years have just left a fug of complete suspicion and paranoia swirling around anyone at the club with a tie, but I'm not thrilled so far with Mr Wallace.
  6. Funny you should mention Greig getting the heave. I was in 1st year at the time, and someone told me in school, just about lunchtime, that he'd been bagged. I wanted him to stay (can't remember why) and so, to demonstrate my dismay, attempted to hurl the Wotsit I was about to eat to the ground, the better to display my anger. Have you ever seen a Wotsit float gently to the ground? As expressions of disgust it left a lot to be desired, but I suppose it stood as a suitable metaphor for John Grieg's reign; the best if intentions, but shocking results. Now, in these more nutritionally aware days, I should probably hurl a piece of Rocket to the floor of my kitchen should I hear bad news about The Rangers, or viciously crumble a cube of Feta cheese. Now, that's a waste of bandwith.
  7. Scots clubs, all owned and run by their fans. We have that already, it's called Junior football. For a reason. While Jim Spence might dream of the day when he can tour Scotland, visiting local footballing Soviets and sharing a samovar of sweet tea with bright eyed activists wearing Arran sweaters, the reality would be a nation of small clubs getting smaller, even more thrashings on increasingly short European trips, the complete loss of any talent to the Conference at age 16, and so on. If we want Scots football t achieve the giddy heights of the Faroe Islands this would be the quickest way to do it.
  8. Meaningless pap. Given the opportunity to answer specific questions, even in the broadest of terms, that goes down as a slap in the face. Might as well have typed, 'You don't need to know, so fuck off'. Which immediately gets him & his investment a big question mark from me.
  9. Leggatt has a style? And someone is copying it?!!? This is the most stunning revelation I've seen from RTC yet.
  10. Sorry, couldn't resist it. I'd like to know what they see as the best practice to ensure the best return on their investment; and connected to that, how pro-active they would be in implementing such practices.
  11. 'On that trip, and on others, I learned to identify the professional gloater, someone smirking in the background or nodding assent as he waded in to me. Sycophancy in the reign of terror was rife. It was imperative I came to terms with it without being seen to be enslaved, as some clearly were. I knew that he would virtually dictate the copy that certain writers put out. In a way it was a tribute to the man's immensely powerful presence that in such a short space of time he had almost all the media by the short and curlies. If you wanted your share of the goodies from him you had to play ball. He, of course, had a lot to offer. If you missed out you were obviously in trouble.' Not Spiers latest rubbish, rehashing the SDM era, but Archie MacPherson, writing in 1992, about the great Mr Stein. Presumably Graham is too young to remember this period, but then, he's too young to remember a lot about Rangers and that doesn't stop him bleating on about it. The point is, anyone who imagines it was anything but 'ever thus' is an idiot; anyone who thinks it will ever change, depending on who is at the top of the tree is an idiot; and anyone who uses the example of about a decade ago to describe the current day (and, entirely coincidentally I am sure, avoid examining the present day) is either an idiot, a Tim, or Graham Spiers.
  12. Reckon we should try to bring Shiels up the road as coach when McKay returns.
  13. Nothing to see here, move along!
  14. Absolutely. Even if there had been a credible fan body with a monster escrow account, does anyone believe Duff & Whelp would have sold the club to it, rather than GreenCo? It was a stitch up from the start, Saying that, Green is gone (I think) and if such a body could be organised, it might very well be the answer, as you say. Time for another aggressive campaign: no baggage, only Rangers. If that was the clear and only raison d'etre I don't see what anyone's excuse for not joining in would be, other than lack of funds. From memory other clubs who go down this road usually wheel out an ex-player to front up such a campaign. and they don't need to be especially articulate or media-savvy - hearts seem to have a conveyor belt of barely understandable east coast types who shriek into microphones and it doesn't do them any harm. Gary MacKay is one, I think, and that Alan Preston is another. Of course, they are allowed to be passionate about their teams without being berated as barking mad, like John Brown was, but that'll just have to be put up with.
  15. * you're Always happy to help the simple minded.
  16. I'd love to see us target some coaches at Werder Bremen or Borussia MGB, for instance, and offer them the chance to head up an academy from the ground up rather than just work for someone else.
  17. Well, maybe you're right, but I can't see it. English, to me, can't believe the state we're in and can't understand why we're not getting fitter yet. While others are just unleasing their inner 'hun-hater' I think he is genuinely bemused. But I think he's gone now, anyway.
  18. The uncertain 'er' is a reference to those journos who reported about Craig Whyte's off the radar wealth. More a dig at them than us. I'll be sorry to see Tom go, I thought he was head and shoulders above the local variety.
  19. If them's the rules, clear enough before the fact, then that's fair enough. It's when they change the rules as they go along that gets me.
  20. How can you be provoked by a plastic seat? I could understand it if Scottish grounds were full of Wassily chairs, and The Calton Emerald Mies van der Rohe Supporters' Bus was sat elsewhere, but really....it'll be sectarian chairs, next.
  21. It's probably only polite to say I'm not really aiming at you - I don't think you're reachable.
  22. You wish...it's been said over and over again, and the same accusation keeps coming up.
  23. Hang on - that's the free kick which crashed off the bar! And tbf, Fraser Aird's corner taking has come on from (in FM terms) virtually red to almost dark blue.
