  1. Doesn't exist here. It's not that bad a place to live, I don't want to over egg the complaint pudding, but there are many things which could be better, and journalism is one of them. On the other hand, if going through what certain other countries had to go through is the price to pay for having a written constitution and the equivalent of the BverfG, you can see the appeal of the British MO.
  2. It doesn't work like that in the UK. Accountability is not a feature of this state and is certainly not a part of our unwritten constitution, whether in London or Edinburgh. The scope for abuse of power is frightening.
  3. This drove me up the wall at the time as well. However, the good news is that, on this front at least, Rangers fans have fought back and fought back well. Many other fans took to Twitter etc to decry the award, and the blog I did on it some two years ago - http://andypendek.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/shaming-orwell.html - stands at over 3,000 views. I think the Orwell judges misfired badly with this award: I know it is supposed to be given to blogs who dig up stuff the MSM won't print, but given the illegal nature of information acquisition and given the subsequent judicial decisions which have made the whole point of the blog just plain inaccurate, both RTC and the Orwell Prize look rather ridiculous. The suspicion that they were led up the garden path by someone who follows a team based not a million miles away from the Velodrome lurketh persistently.
  4. I'd like to see the media portray this stance negatively, since they've been having a year long love in in Edinburgh on the same principle.
  5. What is the rationale behind these stupid dances? OK, I suppose you could make the argument that 'they' are trying to get the money they need without giving away power, but it's pretty clear that no-one at all, anywhere is willing to give that lot money to do with as they please. Surely they've got it by now, no-one trusts them with a bag of sweeties never mind serious money? So why bother pissing into the increasingly strong wind, dragging things out, making things worse? These people hate Rangers, you'll never convince me otherwise. They went way beyond sheer incompetence and self interest years ago, it's now sheer spite.
  6. Thought you'd been hacked by Anonymous. Or hadn't paid your bills!
  7. At least you had the sense not to publicly suggest a new club might be the only option left....talk about egg on chin scenario.
  8. You'll forgive me, I hope, if I take Mr Creighton's sudden realisation that things were awry with a pinch of salt. He must have his head under a rock if it took until last November for the penny to drop.
  9. A good question! I dunno, but it sounds eerily familiar to what we have heard before. Too familiar.
  10. That's impressive, a statement of reassurance which manages to make me even more nervous. Less than a week in and Sarver/his people are quite that familiar with the Govan landscape? We're expected to believe that Sarver or his guys are patrolling Rangers messageboards and telling the big guy about rumours? And knows all those names? And even manages to throw in a 'for the avoidance of doubt'? That sounded far too much like the style we're heard too much of before. There's too many coincidences for me, even this soon.
  11. I've never hidden my SNP colours, I'm very proud of many aspects of Scots history (not so, others) and I think our country could be a beacon of progressiveness in a world increasingly retreating into reactionary practices. But you'll never sell me on the 'major Scottish institution' line. I think that's wishful thinking because (a) even if we were once we're not anymore and (b) that's really not a very good reason to give the club over to someone. It's like selling great swathes of the country to absentee landlords: they fancy a bit of the Lord of the Manor rubbish but many soon lose interest. We've got to be run by Bears. Even if it's fan led, God help us. Even if Mr Sarver goes on to invest successfully in several European club and we're left clicking our fingers and wondering what 'might have been' - at this critical stage in the club's existence were we to welcome in yet another unknown with a history in the financial/business sector....well, I'm just exasperated that anyone is even considering it.
  12. Come on, we're a laughing stock. If we fans are going to rip the club, we can hardly expect others not to. Or from the Mr Goodbar thread:
  13. I don't see that as flying, how can he get 51%? Too many people would need to sell that seem very unlikely to do so. The best Sarver can hope for is largest shareholder status.
  14. Not my favourite pundit. I miss Hansen. Edit: No strikethrough?
  15. It won't do anything, except get people acting and get people used to acting. It's now sitting at just under 10,000 and for us, that's incredible in under a day. God knows it's taken enough to get us mobilised even this much but little steps like this all help.
  16. Man, you get angry at the lack of effective regulation even now, after all the crashes & crises of the last decade.
  17. Oh, bollocks!
  18. That's a most curious piece. Initially, the tone & wording suggest those who saw the whole thing as a PR stunt were wrong, and were confusing employee and employer contributions. However, even if it were 'only' employees' NI which was due, HMRC would have hardly turned a blind eye, thinking a transfer embargo was punishment enough. Then the piece winds up by saying HMRC have 'no concerns' which, given our history, financial position and the much trumpeted expression 'winding up order', is a most odd statement - a taxpaying body cannot go from a status of 'winding-up order' to 'no concerns' in less than 48 hours. But if Forsyth knows it was cobblers, why isn't he going with it? Very odd.
  19. Wimbledon v Liverpool reminding me why I love football. One day we'll be back enjoying the football.
  20. I dunno, I'd want someone fairly simple with money that I could manipulate, although whether I'd be bold enough to pick quite such unsympathetic characters is another question. What I've heard offline would shrivel the hairs on your baws, but we can only go on what they do and say in office, so to speak.
  21. If it comes to the worst we're looking at an EGM and paying off more of Ashley's parasites, while paying to keep the club afloat in the meantime. Hardly ideal but better than an infinity of being under their heel.
