Nithsdale Loyal v Dundee United - court update
andy steel replied to Tannochsidebear's topic in Rangers Chat
What a hoot! Are trading laws really so deregulated that what applies in one city does not apply in another? Let's extend that further, so that if I nick a car in Dundee no-one can touch me for it in Glasgow! Fair play to the sheriff, Ms Patrick, for not buying what appears to be, in law, a sustainable objection. And the very best of wishes to the Tannochside Bears. -
You can't have seen him play.

You have to believe that we can't throw it away now...with that in mind, does anyone have a contact at Rangers who could organise a homecoming (should we win the league at an away ground) which consists of something a bit more inspiring that 'Your sex is on fire' over and over for 2 hours? Contact ESPN and see if we can show the winning game again! Have a DJ on standby to play some different music! Send out the dancing girls to iron out the bumps in the pitch! Have someone with a mic to introduce the players and management team onto the pitch! In short, make it an occassion. We've had plenty of time, even if you take the view that it's tempting fate a bit. Push out the boat, Rangers! Give us a party!

Is there some reason why we cannot agree a clause with any player given a full time contract, that there will be a minimum release clause of say 5mGBP? Would it be illegal? Would their agents not wear it? If a player turned out to be rubbish, it ought to be easy enough to negotiate a reduction in the amount - although I guess most young reserve players will hang on at Ibrox to the end of their contracts, I know I would. It seems a simple solution to avoid losing promising players for nothing, without tying them to 10 year deals they'd never sign. What am I missing?

Gersnet Exclusive: Sir David Murray Interview Confirmed

If P got pregnant, I think there's a fair chance you might have something to do with it as well! -
You have to say, though, our record in bringing through players who can cut in the English leagues is getting better: Ross McCormack Alan Hutton Chris Burke Charlie Adam and of course, Sotirios Kyrgiakos.

Even if you are a fan of Wilson, and I guess most of us are, his showings against Mehmet and the other striker St Mirren have, can't recall his name, and the St J strikers, show that he's got a huge way to go and the notion that EPL managers are ready to spend 3m on him just seems faintly ludicrous to me.

I thought Mr Edgar did very well on Real Radio tonight.

Nithsdale Loyal v Dundee United - court date set

Fantastic! Power to the People! -
At least this model would have one advantange; should anyone find the prospect of the RST being anywhere near the levers of power at Rangers horrifying, they'd have a means to stand up against them.
-
I'd prefer them to beat us in the last OF game...we used to let them do that during NIAR and it ensured they'd keep whatever useless manager they had into the next season, when we'd beat them every time....until the last game of the season.

Just so we know it's not just Timothy who is paranoid...these quotes are from Cricinfo.com and relate to England's win over Bangladesh (BD) this morning. Must be an ex-pat celt, I reckons. and a textbook reply... You can tell how heartbroken I am at the defeat to Dundee Utd by the fact that I'm reading the cricket scores...

It's a sports writer's dream night - their only problem will be deciding how many pages to give to each game.

Pish! The team has been empty for weeks.

Someone get KDS quotes! I don't usually like them, but this is a special occassion.

Meh, I'll live. About time someone else won something anyway.

Not to mention, Naismith looked pretty good yesterday!

Ah, so true. I can't deny the accuracy of your criticism. There's a bit (well, quite a lot) of bending facts and opinions to make an article in there. I was hoping no-one would notice, but I was worried. I stand convicted.

Weak attempt to create terror off the back of what is, overall, probably good news. Next time the Herald needs to fill space, why don't they just use a photo?
-
With good reason, mind you...never a red card and never a penalty! And the tims think OUR refs are bad, jeez.

I was doing a bit of digging around on the net and found a piece on Orwell and sport which mentions the 'free-for-all' in the Moscow Dynamo game - it disagrees, and it is written by one who was there. http://www.finlay-publisher.com/archives/Mar-May%202009%20-%20Peter%20Davison%20-%20Orwell%20and%20Sport.pdf

They do to him, anyway. Can't help thinking it's time to cash in.

VB is not a forum for discussion as such in any case - it's a dedicated organisation, with the express aim of preserving 'Rangers traditions' and defending the club from perceived attacks. I might not agree with them on everything but I can see what they are doing, and it's not providing a social chatroom for Bears.

I was unfortunate enough to pass 4 of the 'Celtic Family' in Paisley today, bedecked in colours but somehow managing to get from Kilmarnock to Paisley in about 3 minutes after the final whistle...or they could have been watching in a pub, I suppose. My 2 sons with me, 2 wee girls in front of us, all four looking frankly terrified and bewildered as our 4 heroes started belting out some song or other, complete with sweary words...in front of kids and infants. Every club is the same. Scottish society is the same. Them trying to claim they're special and we're evil is what sticks in the sane persons's craw.
