  1. Dunn, It isn't a case of RANGERS banning those that sing the songs (although it could be) - it will be a case of UEFA deducting points, fining Rangers or even Rangers being relegated. And the thing is Dunn, even if it IS Rangers that decide to ban those that sing the "outlawed" songs.... if it comes to a choice of the club having an "atmopspheric" stadium with a club playing in the 1st division or banning those singing the songs in order to stay in the SPL but at the expense of an atmospheric Ibrox..... the club WILL choose the banning route - which is in the best interests of the CLUB.
  2. And with this comment Colshy it already shows that you are starting to think about the CLUB as first priority and not personal freedom of speech, which is good. I know you were very much against laying down to UEFA and still are (which is your right) but what ALL fans SHOULD see is that by standing up for our own individual rights to sing the song only hurts the CLUB in the long run.... whether UEFA are right or wrong that is what would happen if it continues. But I liked your comment about "the RIGHT thing" - by being against UEFA's directive is fine but doing the RIGHT thing by the club is what we need at the present time. Hopefully you would do the right thing and not let the atmosphere dictate - but hopefully many, many more fans will do, as you say, the right thing
  3. I wasn't saying anyone disliked it guys - I just love that song and think it would improve the atmosphere - I agree though, the raved up versions are very poor IMO
  4. It could be Clement that is tasked with getting forward more - he has a much better engine than Hemdani. Colsh, Clement's natural position is as a defensive central mid but he can play on the left of mid if needed.
  5. I initially thought so too - but apparently not
  6. Juffery, Austria Vienna are in the CL qualifiers - if he plays in those qualifiers he will NOT be cup tied - he can still play in the UEFA if he has played in those qualifiers.
  7. I like every other Saturday - I always found that it improved the atmosphere.
  8. Joey Barton has ended speculation about his future by signing a new four-year contract at Manchester City. Barton has had a stormy relationship with City over the past few months after he handed in a transfer request in January. City were keen to tie Barton down to a new deal, with just one year remaining on his previous contract. Barton has now signed a four-year deal at Eastlands, shunning interest from Middlesbrough - who were the only club to really make a move for the midfielder. "It is great that everything has been sorted out," admitted Barton. "I am grateful for the support and faith the manager and the chairman have shown me by offering me this contract. The support I have received from City fans has also been a great boost. "I am ambitious and so is the club. I said if the club would sign quality players I would commit my future to City. The club has done that and I am a man of my word. "Since we came back from the pre-season break there is a real mood of optimism at the club. I have always given my absolute maximum for this football club and I am looking forward to the new season and helping City challenge at the highest level." City boss Stuart Pearce added: "This is excellent news. "I have always maintained that Joey's future lay with this football club and the player is very happy here. "Joey is improving as a player and I am sure with continued hard work on his and our part, he can achieve his ambitions at Manchester City."
  9. Niall Quinn named as manager more details. Related links Team Pages: Sunderland Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn has been confirmed as the new manager of the Championship club. The former Republic of Ireland striker succeeds caretaker boss Kevin Ball in the post at The Stadium of Light, with the new season set to begin in less than two weeks. The former Arsenal, Manchester City and Sunderland hit-man takes charge of The Black Cats following an unsuccessful managerial search this summer. Several high-profile names were linked with the North East outfit, with Martin O'Neill, David O'Leary and Sam Allardyce having all been mentioned with the Sunderland post. Quinn, who is set to take formal control of the Sunderland boardroom in the near future, has now opted to put himself in charge of the side after first team coach Kevin Richardson led the squad through pre-season training this summer. The 39-year-old received approval for his appointment from the consortium he is heading to take control of The Black Cats on Monday evening. Despite a lack of managerial experience, Quinn is sure to be a popular appointment among Sunderland supporters following his long spell as a player at The Stadium of Light. He now faces the difficult task of taking the Wearsiders back to The Premiership after a woeful campaign in the top flight last season.
  10. Will be a shame to see the big guy go Colshy but I am sure that PLG would have been half-expecting it. Also, he still has this season which also gives PLG advance notice that it MIGHT be his last season. MIGHT - note Dado said that at the season's end he will talk to his family - he might go on for one more season, you never know
  11. Well..... seeing as you are Gersnet's funniest user surely you won't mind telling us what you did so we can laugh at you - making you even funnier.....
  12. Yeah, it's all YOUR fault Danny - see what you have caused
  13. Fess up - some on, what did you do ? Bet on him to win it ?
  14. Wenger dismissed the Saviola link (doesn;t mean he isnt interested I guess). But Bendtner has very little chance in front of those players you mention
  15. Agreed, when I read it this morning (7am my time) I thought I hadn't woken up yet !! 5 mill is an absolute steal for Newcastle. Am shocked that Chelsea let him go for so little - but then money is no object down Stamford bridge way.
  16. Might put the double on - AC Milan at 3/1 and Ashley Cole to still be a gooner on Sept 1 at 4/1
  17. yeah, looks like it - if you take out the missing numbers they have a 33 man squad. If we assume that they would have a 24 man squad then Bendtner would be one of the ones NOT in the squad IMO.
  18. was just curious Colshy - reason being that the Newcastle announcement has to be factual as it was given to the Stock Exchange.
  19. Good shout that man !! And Gav, I think with a 15 point deduction that AC are a GREAT bet - I can see them being all pissed off about having the deduction and going through the season unbeaten. Inter will be their main challengers, they know that - and if they get 2 wins against them (VERY doable) then the gap is only 9 points. I am off to take that bet too ! Gav, what did you get back for your Garcia bet ?
  20. which part wouldn't you believe Colsh - mine or Gav's ?? Which player ? Any ideas ?
  21. 3/1 is still crap odds but worth a punt. Only thing is that, even though Inter are average at best, with Juve anf Fiorentina down you take a couple of teams away that could have taken points off Inter. Was it 30 points AC were deducted ? A lot to make up but makes it interesting for the season that bet. They also need to replace Shevchenko though, don't they ?
  22. I think that article is merely stating that the Arsenal 1st team squad was to be announced at noon...... and Bendtner had said if he wasn't in the 1st team squad then he would rather go elsewhere for 1st team football. Gav, perhaps check the Gooners website and see if he made the 1st team squad ?
  23. Did Stu and Frankie not ask for the personal insults to go to PM's ? Or are you just pms this morning Colsh ?
