  1. I was waiting for soemone to make this response Chris and I have to say, if true then I think it is a farce that we paid their contracts in full !! Reason being.... if we are paying them out in full then we may as well just hold onto them in case of injuries. No point in paying them in full and then just allowing them to walk IMO
  2. Fair point Cammy - however..... it can also be said that THEY have tough fixtures in having to play us, no ? See, the time to judge should be after we have played a full round of games, surely ?? Thing is, just as we could LOSE to Hibs and Celtic we could also BEAT them and they could drop points elsewhere too which would leave us, probably, a fair bit ahead of them - in your previous post you said if we lose to Hibs and Celtic we will be AT LEAST 6 further points behind - not so, you are making the bold assumption that they will win their other games. All teams will drop points this season because there isnt a huge gap betweek the "big 3" and the rest
  3. Dundee wouldn't be able to pay a lot of his wages. However, not a bad idea IF they wanted him as he would get games, hopefully confidence and also put himself in the shop window
  4. Seems that there were interested parties in Fan-Fan, Andrews AND Malcolm even when they weren't in the team....... for me it is the wages we were paying them, not whether they were playing or not
  5. Not necessarily Mike - very much depends on how much it took to pay them off !!
  6. You being serious ??? What about last season with Novo ? He sure got more of a chance than Sebo has so far. Take off your Novo-tinted specs Dunn
  7. And Sebo has been given how many opportunities to "put all his effort and ability into the game" ??? That's right, virtually none.
  8. I think we might all be disappointed in thie Colsh but him being the hottest young manager in Europe doesn't mean he should have a bottomless pit either. That said, we were promised funds from DM after the JJB deal and the "deal that will riock Scottish football" that hasn't transpired yet - and he haven't spent a lot of money at all ! Disappointing for sure. Doesn't mean we won't win the league though - you don't always win the league by spending more than the other teams - tactics, graft, determination, heart etc all play a part.
  9. But they are the ONLY games which Rangers can directly have an impact in
  10. Their wages alone would likely be too much for us. And if we wanted them at the end of the season we would have to pony up a whole lot of money, and therefore a whole lot of debt again.
  11. You make the assumption that they are a success in the EPL. Many great players have not succeeded in the EPL. It is POTENTIALLY a smart play but not necessarily !
  12. But who would he displace from the team ?
  13. With Routledge going the other way on a season long loan
  14. Indeed they are - and it will be a HUGE coup for the Hammers !! I think every team in the EPL would like these players in their sqaud (Chelsea I am sure would like Tevez, maybe not Mascherano as they have plenty of players in midfield) but every other team they would more than likely be starters. West Ham could be in for a very good season PS Thanks Beattie for the compliment my man
  15. Yes they have signed some very good players but we also have some very good players whilst I think our team is in more of a rebuilding phase (again !!) than theirs. Our average age is 25 and if we can keep this team together (or as much of it as we can) then we will see a very strong team IMO in the next few seasons
  16. So today we have spent a net 50,000 and got one player in whilst 2 players are out which isn't bad considering the 2 out were unlikely to get near the starting 11 this season. But that still means we have spent little money this year : 600k on Svensson 2 mill on Sebo 1 mill on Papac 1.1 on Clement Total spent of 4.7 mill 500k for Zurab 500k for Novo 450k for Namouchi Total income of 1.45 mill So we are net spenders of 3.25 mill No doubt I have missed someone... AGAIN !!
  17. But after the WC they just had this is a dangerous game for Corinthians to play because if they DON'T do the business their worth will be less than it was just after the WC where they both had solid tournaments.
  18. Hope he is a player that is commanding and can walk straight into the heart of the defence and organise them. Also might be the kick in the arse needed by Svensson. Would still like to see at least one more today
  19. I think Namouchi was a free and Novo was 400k I think !
  20. I agree. Novo only cost 400k so to be making profit on him especially as he is WAY down the pecking order is decent business IMO. Likewise with Namouchi, to be getting a fee for him when he is that far down the pecking order is decent business. Now..... we can only dream and hope that Fan-Fan, Marv (who right now would be, IMO, a better option than Svensson and Bob Malcolm follow them out the door today - although it doesn't give us much time to get our own transfers in.... hope to see a couple coming in today to be honest, but doubt it.
  21. Cant be bothered quoting all your post Cammy but are you seriously trying to say that Hearts was our only very good performance ?? If so then maybe I have much lower expectations than you do because I thought we were very good against Motherwell, very good against DU (aside from some sloppy defending) and also had a good performance against Killie. Are you not one of the many (myself included) that was worried about PLG being given time and one of the advocates for giving him such ? Personally I think "giving him time" requires more than 5 games ! Must have been watching a different game than me at least because I didn't see Killie create many chances - a couple yes, but not many. I also didn't think it was handball for the "other" claim. Your statement about Molde and it "not being as easy as that" is somewhat irrelevant (unless you are commenting on his "I will be shocked if..." comment) to the debate on that subject between you and calscot. Why is it irrelevant ? Because you demanded 2 wins against them whilst calscot said a draw and a win will be sufficient. Whether it is easy or not is irrelevant when calscot was saying that the 2 wins demanded isn't accurate - and I am sure we will all accept a win and a draw. Every Rangers fan is entitled to be concerned - but I don't know why PLG is taking the brunt of it in some quarters when he has a team playing very good football, creating a boat-load of chances and has a team with an average age of 25 doing a good job and that team is still only in its infancy. Rome wasn't built in a day my friends - but the job PLG has done to turn the performances around is, in my opinion, quite astounding in such a short space of time. Had we taken half the chances we have had we would be sitting with a goal difference of +20 by now - changed days from last season when we knew if a team went 1 up on us we would lose the game.
  22. unreal - Gribz will be VERY happy - that is an amazing coup by the hammers !!
  23. I was saying that Petrov's fee covers the fees of Gravesen and JvoH (2 mill and 4 mill - JvoH I have heard 3.5-5). Then Petrov's wages would cover the wages of one of the 3 big-ticket players they have signed - but the other 2 would not have their wages covered. It can be frustrating watching them get players who look like they could be very good signings - but they have yet to prove that to be the case. Our lesser known players are delivering performances if not the results and this Bear is still optimistic about this season and what it could entail for us.
  24. No problem mate - you jsut seem a bit down today with the lack of activity from us whilst our esteemed friends across the city have signed a good player - thay have also though cost themselves money - Petrov's fee covers JvoH and Gravesen but the additional wages I would expect are about 2 mill per year.
  25. The club they sign for isnt always an indicator of the calibre of player though. You must be impressed with Clement at the very least, surely ? Martin ?
