You are probably right Re the financial savings Mike but.... at what cost ? I have this issue with management within my company... they have certain "goals" to achieve in order to get the big bonuses, the sad thing is that they achieve the absolute goal as given to them but have added little to no value. Martin Bain assisted with putting the company on a better financial footing but at great cost to the product on the field. You can also find nuggets in the Bosman bargain basement but we havent found many and when you look at our friends across the city they have proven that if you can find a decent player for a relatively small fee (ala Petrov) and nurture him for a few years you can punt him for a decent fee (ala Petrov) and get decent replacements using those funds (Gravesen and Hesselink). Speculating to accumulate if you will. Hopefully though we will turn the corner soon. I just don't think Martin Bain is "CEO" material though and with DM being an astute businessman I am very surprised that he put Bain in that position.

A CEO of any normal business would pull a salary of that magnitude (here in Bermuda there are a number of CEO's who command salaries of about 2-3 million and their bonuses are GUARANTEED to be AT LEAST 150% of salary (and these guys still aren't "high" earners by comparison to the UK and US. However....... if the CEO's of these companies were as inept as Martin Bain is (much of the role of a CEO is to be a strategic thinker, always looking to push the company forward in all business aspects) but Martin Bain does not appear to be doing that at our club and, despite the many failings of DM I feel that DM is/was the visionary at Rangers and if that is the case then Martin Bain is getting paid a salary that the club need not be paying !

Agree with both comments Cammy - the good thing is that Celtic's central midfield is somewhat pedestrian too (as Hemdani, whilst our most consistent performer is very slow) so that type of game should suit him (also part of the reason why I felt PLG was RIGHT to have Fergie in the team on Sunday, I fear Hemdani would have been over-run by the HIbs midfield 3, not that it mattered !!). Would have preferred Clement in there on Saturday but hopefully Hemdani and Fergie can finally play a decent game beside each other in there.

We could do a lot worse than Broqwn and Thomson at Rangers Cammy - and, in fact, we already do have a lot worse than them !

You have been blinded by the Murray spin-doctors Dunn ! How much money has he put into the club aside from the initial 6 million that he bought the club for... and I don't believe the rights issue really counts, he was robbing Peter to pay Paul in that instance.
-
If the assets aren't on the clubs books then they likely will not go to the new owner. Am sure Murray Park is still on the company books, sure the Albion isn't (so is lost), not sure about the rest.

Spot on Del. It is a better squad last year IMO but still not good enough to be dropping the 3 players he did. But all is not lost, this is a BIG month for us and we will need the SQUAD we have so to get a draw and make ourselves clear favourites in the ie whilst resting players for the away games ahead isnt too bad

Maybe we can blame the chants on fans from other teams then ?? lol
-
They aren't are they ??? What a bunch of morons singing the banned songs - nice way to put the club in trouble again - after all the good work that was done at the start of the season.
-
3-2 now, Ole Gunnar !
-
1-0 celtic ! EDIT : LOL, 1-1

Might be wrong Pete but I believe that David King has had his assets frozen - am sure he is subject to some investigation in South Africa (I think it is tax evasion charges). So not sure how viable David King would be. Tom Hunter would be a good bet but as has been said before, it doesn't appear that he is interested or has more than enough on his plate right now.

thought Fergie made a big difference in the 2nd half with his probing ball, sublime pass to Boyd for the pen.

it IS like a morgue Pete !

What a result for the Toffees 3-0

Bardsley's was a great goal and Prso's was a good finish. We seem a bit lethargic though - no urgency it seems

Sounds like sour grapes to me, and quite possibly an attempt to make himself a public image, almost embarrassing WS in to going to see him play. And let's face it, being in Pompey's reserves isn't exactly going to get him into the spotlight to get called up. Also.... just where would he fit in as a defensive midfielder when we have Fergie (when fit), Hartley, Fletcher et al all vying for starting positions in the middle of midfield. Richard Hughes..... thanks but NO thanks

You may have hit the nail on the head Barry.... http://www.sportinglife.com/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=soccer/06/09/06/manual_091439.html

Did his parents have him out of wedlock then ? Because if not your statemnt is factually inaccurate Don't believe all the press you read. It is very surprising for a player to do that - not saying he didn't but how do you KNOW that the Chelsea statement is factual ?
-
Fair point Pete. I will watch the game on your behalf then
-
He was one of ou better players yesterday I thought. The way he skinned the RB and his ball to Fletcher at the back post was very good. He then assisted the 2nd too with a nice pull-down. Any criticism of his this morning is very harsh IMO.

Sign up for Rangers World, then buy it on the official site for $10 Pete !

Aye, I would have J-Rod n the team before Svensson just now Gav !
-
Some of those stats are ok though Beattie. The defensive and physical attributes look fine. Hopefully he is a "20" for everything in real life

Because Chlsea don' need any new strikers
