  1. So say the sale is 18.5 mill as being reported (after add-ons) Player gets 10% off top line presumably ? There is 1.85 mill Sold for 18.5, bought for 9.5, profit of 9 - 50% to PSG is 4.5 mill So.... Sale of 18.5mill minus cost of 9.5 mill minus PSG sell on of 4.5 mill minus Edouard cut of 1.85 mill - profit of 2.65mill. Still not too bad I guess - but nowhere near a cash cow the media like to label it. As you said, though, this is all cash immediately as they have largely paid for him already. However, they have just spent an awful lot of money this summer too. Their next set of financials will be really interesting.
  2. Not going to lie. This is fantastic news if it remains that way.
  3. Tims saying we couldn't afford him.... and one of their own then says "He's a loose cannon, got done for drink driving" - lol
  4. Everything I have read states this. 40% of any sell-on, not profit.
  5. Edouard is going for 15mill with add-ons taking it to 18.5mill. They have a 40% sell on due to PSG - which, I believe, is 40% of the fee, not the profit. So they will be due paying PSG 7.4 mill (on the 18.5 mill sale) which means the net proceeds are 11.1mill. He cost them 9.5 - so a profit of 1.6mill. If the add-ons aren't triggered that profit becomes a loss of 500k
  6. Boyd immediately spotted it in post match comments. Said that both Welsh and Ralston went front post - as they were zonal marking Ralston was like "I should have someone to mark here but don't" - meanwhile Starfelt gets lambasted despite the fact he was marking Goldson but had to adjust to take on Helander too. Wasn't Starfelt's fault, was either Welsh, Ralston or the zonal marking.
  7. One solution. Don't vote for them.
  8. Valentine's Day was their last away victory domestically. Their worst start points-wise since 1997/98 First Celtic manager since Mowbray to lose their first OF indeed. But for an unfortunate goal away to Dundee Utd we would be 4 points clear of them, despite our own slow start to the season. As it is, we are 3 clear. What makes for really interesting reading for me is their recruitment policy. Apparently they are close to signing both a winger and a striker.... in fairness, the boy Kyogo looks very tidy (despite Balogun ensuring he had a quiet day yesterday you can tell he is a good player) and Abada will be OK against the other SPFL dross.... but in signing another striker and another winger they are completely ignoring their actual failings.... which are in midfield and defence, particularly in defence. I thought Juranovic did OK for them yesterday and maybe he will play RB instead of Ralston (Ralston is getting plaudits for being an SPFL hammer thrower - he did ok yesterday for them too, but isn't much of a footballer), but Starfelt is a horror show, Welsh will get exposed having to be the cool head beside him, and Joe Hart will undoubtedly cost them points this season. They have, apparently, spent 20 million this season on transfers - when added to last season's spend and given how poorly those transfers have turned out, they must be close to being on their last legs in terms of sellable assets to balance the books. You can only have so many strikers and wingers start... even John Hartson got it spot on yesterday when he said "will Angeball mean Celtic have to score 3 or 4 goals to ensure victories"..... those close games when they are 1-0 up with a few minutes left to play and opponents lump it into the box will be telling, they can't handle the aerial fight. At half-time yesterday, sure they had most of the possession - but a) because Rangers were happy with them having possession in their own half and b) a lot of that possession wasn't dangerous at all. They are easier on the eye than Lennon's Celtic last season... but they are 6 points worse off, after 4 games, I believe. Hardly inspiring. Our expectations are heady, we believe we should win the league. With how we won it at a canter last season, they expected to not put up a fight this season... given their brand of play is better they have bought into the delusion early. For us, we just need to keep focused on one game at a time, winning whether we play poorly or not. We proved yesterday, again, that we have superior tacticians.
  9. I like Deeney. As Bill says, top player and top bloke. Would rather see him at Rangers than Celtic... which usually tells you how much of a player they are. If Morelos was to go Deeney would be almost the ideal short-term replacement. Similar in a number of ways but also more clinical IMO.
  10. We will need to agree to disagree - I haven't been impressed by Doig any time I have seen him against us. Think he gets found wanting positionally.
  11. If we win the league this year, gaining automatic entry into the CL, Patterson could very well see his value rise enormously as he plays on the biggest stage of all - again, the issue is getting him that game time.
  12. Good. Patterson is worth WAY more than that. Young, great engine, international, played in Europe - he is better than chocolate hips and they got 25m for him..... we should be retaining Patterson if possible as his value will only increase over time - the issue is getting him game time. If we resolve that then his value will rise exponentially.
  13. Rumour I’ve read is Borna to Roma for £13 million
  14. I heard it was also COVID isolation protocols
  15. Bassey will be first choice if Borna goes, deserves his chance. Hibs would try to gouge us.
  16. In the first half the 5 players with most touches in that half were all Celtic players…. So suggests that the possession stat is correct. However…. Of those top 5 players…. 4 of them were their defenders, ergo suggesting that a lot of their possession was at the back as you say. Sutton suggesting that 36% possession and Celtic missing 3 chances is lucky… maybe he should speak to Jose who can explain just how “lucky” he was when winning the CL final 3-0 with Inter and just 33% possession. Muppet
  17. No he wasn’t. He was, as GS says, integral to us winning today.
  18. H&H saying it’s been revealed that Kent was ruled out, last Monday, until at least the international break but has played through the pain barrier to get us through. Hats off to the lad IMHO. That’s some dedication to the team !
  19. It’s that same lack of awareness that had them believing they’d catch us from 15 points back last season. The same lack of awareness that saw us overtake them in the space of a season
  20. Boyd on Sky…. “Everyone is saying how poorly Rangers have started the season… but it’s Celtic who have lost two of their first 4 league games of the season” ??
  21. Couldn’t make the game today Ian ?
  22. He’s more than a striker now. Thought his link up play today was exceptional. That cross field left footed pass to Barisic was sublime.
  23. Maybe it’s the optimist in me but I really feel that game, second half particularly, will be the kickstart to our season
