Agreed. We look narrow but we counter that by having Tav and Borna playing very high, which means the full backs give us the width. This also can cause us problems at the back with little cover down the flanks, which is where Jack and Lundstram come in. Lundstram would slide back to give us 3 CB's to provide some cover defensively, Jack often slides over to the full back slot being attacked when our play breaks down. Last night was case in point.... Armstrong was playing very well and giving Borna a tough time.... yet Borna was STILL breaking forward to offer width when attacking. I would be looking at trying to sign Armstrong in fact - there is most definitely a player in there.

Lol. We have never done that even in our darkest days. Not sure where you are getting that from tbh. -

Aye, me too. But in fairness I thought he was very bright when he came on -
If this is the Ryan Kent we are going to see under Beale then we need to extend his contract pronto.
-
Same, I gave it to Kent - in part because of dB 🤣 but also a large chunk because he was, for me, our most dangerous player and looked the most likely to dig us out of a hole.

Uh oh. We are back in "Kent did nothing" territory are we ? Kent was one of our 2 or 3 best performers yesterday - indeed, he had a very valid shout for Man of the Match. He was constantly at it, looking to cause them problems, use his pace, be direct. McCrorie struggled to handle him for most of the game yesterday. "If he plays as an attacker he has to contribute" - he does, you just either don't, or refuse, to see it. At one point yesterday he nutmegged McCrorie, continued his run and then had Kennedy on him as quick as a flash. Contributions are as much these days about OFF the ball as they are about ON the ball - and Ryan Kent does an inordinate amount of unselfish running off the ball. With his runs, often to not receive the ball, he is pulling players away from spaces for others to exploit. Kent is very, very good at this and opponents fear him so it creates much space for others. You talk about direct involvement in goals... but that doesnt tell a full story. Kent may never get a touch on a ball and, ergo, isnt directly involved in a goal.... but his unselfish running down the line, offering himself up even as a decoy and pulling players away to create space for others very much is an involvement in a goal. Kent is more often than not at least double marked and this, in itself, is involvement because it means there is space for others elsewhere to exploit. The fact they don't exploit it often enough isnt Kent's fault. But Kent had a very good game yesterday. -

All UK clubs generally will have greater issues with Latin American players who are based in South America mate. Has always been thus. The players we had under Caixena were already established international players - the UK work permit rules for non-EU (as it was at the time) players required the players to have played so many of a country's international games in the previous two years. And chances are if we WERE looking at the South American market they wouldnt be established internationals, otherwise other clubs in England and/or Europe would likely be trying to get them. The South American players we had under Pedro were either not good enough or had issues such as an enjoyment of Columbian marching powder..... -

Personally would wait as I think the league race is done. But I also see a lot of value in getting someone in now, used to the league for a few months before then hitting the ground running fully next season. So long as it isnt too expensive ! -

This shows a lack of understanding on how things work. There is very good reason that South Americans often end up in countries like Portugal and Spain, rather than the UK. Far easier for them to get work permits in those countries than in the UK. -

Wait, he's a Bosman in the summer ? Snap him up. Relatively low risk and when at a very poor Norwich in the EPL he was their only real bright spark. -

He is younger, but made his debut slightly older than Jude was when he made his debut. I know you are trying to be helpful mate - but a bunch of big clubs already have Bellingham Jr on their radar. Birmingham wouldnt let him go on loan anyway as he is an integral part of their first team squad -

The IFAB rules are clear mate. If the ball comes up towards the players face from close quarters (it did) and the player instinctively throws his hands up to protect his face (Goldson did) then the decision of the referee is to play on (Beaton did). Buster, plus all the raging Tims (not buster), can complain all they like (in buster's case say we would be screaming for a penalty) but they all would be proven to be completely wrong. Beaton, and Collum as VAR, applied the rules exactly as they should have. Tims are now complaining that the ref in Aberdeen v Livi never gave a penalty for the exact same situation (apparently, I dont watch any games other than ours) - but instead of lambasting the ref that day and applauding Beaton for getting it absolutely spot on..... they are chastising Beaton.... for applying the rules correctly. Only in Timland..... -

You could scream about it all you like, and you would be wrong to do so. The rules on the penalty incident are very clear. It was NOT a penalty. Beaton and the VAR got it absolutely spot on. -

lol. Hardly an unknown given he made his debut for Birmingham slightly older than Jude, and had been involved in matchday squads since he was 15.... and that Dortmund have already been sniffing around him I highly doubt we would have a great deal of chance in getting him. -

Not just that but surely we can also all see that Beale is getting more from these players after a month than what Gio had got from them in 6 months. Someo f those we have said need to go..... may just have been needing a new boss - sad as that sounds. I had it on fairly good authority that the players absolutely hated Gio's training sessions - many said they were boring. Beale needs time and his own recruitments. -
