Need them to get in with the war chest. First thing they should do is empty the war chest to pay off all these loans. We won't have any money left for new signings but all of the finance chat will come to an end so that is something.7 points

I'm not quietly confident, but then I rarely am. I don't think Mourinho is the manager he once was, since he left Man Utd I've never felt his heart was in it, it's been more performative than productive. Even his attempt at mind games yesterday felt like an after thought. That said if we lose an early goal, or two, and if the crowd get nervy and restless it could be a difficult evening for us. If the crowd stay behind the side, even if there are setbacks, we should be ok. This is a Rangers side that's mentally fragile, and a little physically fragile too, but with a rocking Ibrox behind them they are capable of achieving a great result. It's always worth remembering we're still in Europe in March, that's not something I'll ever take for granted.6 points

I reckon it will be Bilbao and then Lyon in the semis. Would prefer Roma as we'll be in Bilbao for the final.3 points

A lot riding on this game. Kudos/Prestige / feel good Becoming normal for Rangers to still be in European tournament football in March. Must encourage potential buyers. Bragging rights We are behind our main rivals in most of today's metrics, both on and off field but whatever their bluster, they will be sick that we are still in Europe and they aren't. Especially, if we make the quarter finals. Financial The 2.5M for reaching the quarter finals added to another bumper Ibrox attendance should help enormously with any current cashflow issues. Co-efficient Scotland's numbers are not far from a place where the CL League phase becomes a lot more difficult to get to (tricky enough as it is). Co-eff points can be working materials for alchemy. Our individual co-efficient is in a very good place, joint 26th place of all European clubs. We could jump 2 or 3 places tonight. --------- Don't get Fenerbache. They came into the tie, 18 games unbeaten and looked poor last week. Their manager with all the hassle he has going on in Turkey is giving me the impression that he maybe working his ticket. Quietly confident that we will be in the quarter finals. _----------_ Funny old game Could Barry Ferguson become the first ever manager to best Mourinho in two consecutive games ? Ps. No idea if it has happened before.3 points

A touching gesture!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 We are all the same. It too often needs humanity and courage to acknowledge it.2 points

I find this team utterly unpredicatble - bit ironic given whats under my username from bygone days. I think ultimately we'll sneak through2 points

We must make sure we don't concede an early goal and make it to half time with a clean sheet. If we concede early, I can see this Rangers team being beat comfortably by a Mourinho team.2 points

They seem to be a very decent crowd but I hope they are disappointed at the end of the match tonight.1 point

I remember it well. Going into half time I thought we were done for. Dortmund looked really good. Once we equalised the fight seemed to go out of Dortmund.1 point

Even allowing for our 2 disallowed goals last week I think the scoreline flattered us as we rode our luck on a good few occasions. Let's hope it holds out tonight!1 point

Roma are in form and have won their last 5 games on the spin! Would prefer Bilbao who are a bit hit and miss.1 point

Rangers 7/5 Draw 12/5 Fenerbache 7/5 For Fenerbache to win four nil with Dzeko first goal wil pay you 300/11 point

I don't think it's a case of turning up or not. These games suit us because we can play direct, which is how PC wanted us to play. Domestically we rarely get the chance.1 point

It has become predictable that we turn up on Thursday nights. There is a certain predictability about our inconsistency. For me, what throws an added difficulty into predicting tonight, is Fenerbache and what version of them, turns up. For them to go through, I think they have to get to Lyon levels from last Autumn. I doubt they will be capable of that. I don't think they have the pace. Time will tell1 point

I think we heard that before recently. If the score is 0-0 after ninety minutes I will be overjoyed. If it’s 0-2 after twenty I will not be surprised.1 point

Three years ago, Dortmund scored twice before HT with Bellingham &Co running all over us. Had the first half lasted another 10 minutes, they could have been out of sight. I thought we were done. Dortmund had eventually turned up and it was a matter of time. But we didn't buckle, Gio tweaked a couple of things and we came back stronger.1 point

So what is your point? It's short term, something we can't influence, presumably is the best deal that the market could offer, and ultimately, will be of purely historic interest.1 point

Yeah Inter or Dortmund would be good to see if Villa dont win it. Although I would like to see Mbappe's face if PSG won. I said Barca would win it at the start of the competition and think they will get to the final at least.1 point

The fact Fenerbahce have to come out and attack may be an advantage to hit on them on the counter so the team selection will be interesting to see if Barry pulls another trick out of the hat. The 3rd goal was massive in the first leg and deserved and thats what I think gets us through in the tie but we may still lose on the night by a goal.1 point

To start with... In March 2021 (date of article that you linked), the UK base rate was 0.1%. Yesterday, it was 4.5%. Maybe I misinterpreted your first post on this. But the 6% figure you seemed to suggest was relevant today, simply isn't. John Bennett was talking about the rate he was charging the club and that it was so much better than any other sources. ".....it could be banks such as MacQuarie Bank and they are active in the football space. They can't touch our terms,"...JB Bennett said that MacQuarie Bank couldn't compete with his 6% (when base rate was 0.1%). The Bennett loan to the club wasn't about profiteering. MacQuarie bank is about making money. So given that the base rate has increased by 4.4% and MacQuarie will be adding it's margin. The number is way beyond your 6%.1 point

John Bennett quoted verbatim in the Super Soaraway According to documents lodged to Companies House, two parties, 'FCT' and 'PC', owe Rangers money. It is likely FCT and PC refer to FC Twente and Parma Calcio, two clubs that Rangers have done business with in recent years. Gers sold Antonio Colak to Serie A side Parma for around £2.5m in 2023 and Eredivisie outfit Twente purchased Sam Lammers for a similar amount last summer. Transfer fees are usually paid in instalments than in full however, and it's understood Rangers are still waiting for these instalments to be paid. Neither Twente or Parma are believed to late or overdue with their instalments. But Rangers have taken this action to receive funds now, with interest to be paid on the loan going forward. The future fees that were due from Twente and Parma will now be paid to Macquarie rather than Rangers as part of the agreement. In turn, Macquarie will give the Ibrox club an immediate injection of cash. In normal circumstances, current shareholders could have stepped in and fronted up money of their own whilst the club waited for the instalments to be paid. But with a potential takeover of the Ibrox club by the San Francisco 49ers agreed in principle - and with several of the Rangers board ready to sell up before the end of the current Premiership season - it is reasonable to expect that they would be unwilling to part with more of their own cash. What the move does signal is a change in stance from what ex-chairman John Bennett said in 2021 on the topic of interest rates offered by banks such as Macquarie. He said: "We have had numerous approaches, including in November. It is so interesting, they come to you and it could be equity, it could be family offices, it could be banks such as MacQuarie Bank and they are active in the football space. They can't touch our terms," he said. "What I have been saying and a number of us have been saying is 'Ok, those are interesting approaches'. I can tell you that one of them was at 13 per cent per annum. "We're not paying that. We are no longer paying nine, we are no longer paying eight, six is the new benchmark. "If those providers can come in and beat that at two levels - a lower coupon, because six is the new benchmark, and we have driven the cost of funding down to six. "I think that is one of the lowest numbers in the whole of football in Britain for loans. But also on security. I can assure you they want a whole lot more security and a higher coupon." https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/14472837/rangers-loan-future-transfer-fees-what-it-means-finances/?utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=ScottishSunSportTwitter&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=17417336791 point
