The decision by the High Court on the definition of a woman is one of the most important decisions in my lifetime and for women's hard fought rights. I was ecstatic over the judgement although I knew in my heart it was the only one possible. I don't usually comment on these things on here but wiith women making up over 50% of the population I find it incredible you don't think it is "important".4 points

I just wish this takeover would get signed and sealed so we can get moving on .4 points

If he’d been banned recently by his own FA why was he refereeing European matches so soon after ? Were UEFA aware of the ban?3 points
-
I hope we'll have some news on a DoF first, before Russell Martin is announced... I'm also not expecting this 'war chest' everyone is looking for. The biggest benefit to the takeover, for me, is the leadership it brings, which will allow us to implement our plans without getting pulled this way and that by different board members.3 points

Another awful decision. Diomande was doing what we needed before he got shunted.3 points

You fully expect to come up against good sides at this stage of the competition, but that's no excuse for the ultra-defensive approach from Barry in all his European games. Just defending and hoping for a lucky break is no way to approach any game at this level - and it didn't even work, as we were battered from the first minute. GvB was poor overall, but we could play in Europe; Clement was poor, but we could play in Europe. This, to me, proves why Barry should be nowhere near the Rangers job.3 points

Similar to Buster, between 1978 and 1990 I completed six tours of the Province; two six month affairs, the rest were 3-4 emergency stints. Sinn Fein/IRA came to the table and signed the Good Friday peace deal because they had ran out of road, they had no room to manoeuvre. The Int' chaps, the crystal gazers always spouted the IRA needed at least 2,0000 operatives to stay relevant and effective. We are talking balaclavas on the trigger, bomb makers and layers, recce' groupings, safe house holders, watchers, sympathetic farmers, Doctors, medical professionals, drivers, journos, quartermasters, artificers, .......................... etc. By 1990, the IRA had over 1,500 folks in GB, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Euro, North, Central and, South American jails. There were a few dozen more banged up in the tin pails of Australia, South Africa, Canada and, New Zealand. A few spectaculars, the Barrington sniper rifle campaign and, the desperate proxy bombings were the last gasps. Danny Morrison, the broth of a bhoy that came up with, "who in this room would disagree if the Provos took control on the island of Ireland with an Armalite in one hand and the ballot box ion the other" was in the jail for conducting a pistol whipping a catholic pensioner in a Sinn Fein office, who refused the use of his house as the base for an ambush. The IRA were defeated by professionalism. The civil authority in the UK lost the peace because Blair washed his hands after signing the peace deal. Paul Maskey at Ibrox and a former member of my Regiment facing charges for actions on the day of Bloody Sunday are evidence of that fact.3 points

It's an interesting question. As much as the commercial side of the club has improved in recent years, it wouldn't surprise me to see them change some of the contracts there (e.g. catering, sponsors, kit supplier etc). A key decision will be the appointment of a new management team and other key staff (sporting director, recruitment, youth system etc). I'm also unsure Patrick Stewart will remain as CEO so we may see a change there. Finally, I also wonder if they'll look to raise money from the supporters in terms of a share issue and/or bonds of some sort. That's a lot to happen in one year but I think it's pretty obvious we need clear improvement across the club.2 points

Barry beat that lot 3-2. Big Phil beat that lot 3-0, and was it not for the men in black would have had a cup off them too. Just my opinion, but players like Jefte and Barron were better under Clement, and Hamza and Cyriel were scoring more under him. Without checking the stats (leave that to Rosseau) I think Cerny was more productive pre Barry & co too.2 points

I'm more partial to a decent black coffee. Getting back to the fitbaw. IMO, the controversy about the referee comes second place to our own failings and poor decision-making. We didn't deserve to go through.2 points

Should have started IMO. Starting Ridvan out of position with a strapped up hamstring to take on Nico Williams wasn't the way to go.2 points

We had the first inconsistent managerial bounce that consistently went 2 goals behind, but only sometimes recovered. At Ibrox, Barry's team has scored 1 goal in 390 minutes. Three defeats and a draw. TBF, the wins in Istanbul and at Parkheid were excellent Thanks and cheerio2 points

How can Dessers shirt being ripped off not be a Pen. Okay the big man goes down easily but rightly so as if you dont go down you dont get the pens 99% of the time. Why was it not even looked at - yet he gets booked for coming straight back onto the pitch after changing the jersey - why is that even in the rule books because he didnt go off with an injury. Yilmaz going off changed our plan A but not only the decision to put Diomande to LB was bad but that meant putting Jefte to left centre half which is worse! What a waste of a sub, which meant Hagi had to come off at HT to correct the decision and 2 minutes later Balogun comes off injured. For the second game in a row we started to actually play when going to a back 4, we had more possession second half. But that was a tough cauldron to go into. Had Propper not been sent off so early in the first leg things could have been different. Its a good run again in Europe and we certainly werent out of our depth in the tournament. Kind of hoping Man Utd go on and beat Bilbao in the Semi's.2 points

Sorry but wtf was he doing. He had his arms out as if to say ‘leave it lads all good’ as the boy buried the header. Can’t watch that school boy defending anymore. Pls make it stop.2 points

I lived just north of Belfast for a few years during the 1990s. I was there during the 'end' of the troubles and for the Good Friday Agreement, indeed I voted in favour of it. There were 322 people killed during the 1990s alone, 854 during the 80s and over 2,000 in the 1970s. Everyone in Northern Ireland was affected, directly or indirectly. As a Glaswegian I arrogantly thought I had a grasp of the place before I went, I didn't. Like so much in life Northern Ireland is far more nuanced and complicated than some like to portray it. The Good Friday (or Belfast) Agreement was a compromise. It was very difficult for some people to accept it, I knew people who couldn't. I understood why too. For me it came down to stopping the killing. Those numbers of dead above, that would have continued. There are people today alive who otherwise wouldn't be. It's that simple. No one got what they wanted. Republicans had to admit they weren't getting a 'united Ireland' through violence, the only way that was going to happen was through democratic means and that might take generations, if ever. Unionists had to accept that a 'united Ireland' was a legitimate aim as long as it was achieved through the ballot box. Everyone had to accept murderers, sociopaths, gangsters and monsters were not only going to get away with their crimes, but be allowed into civil society, take up important roles of state and have their past whitewashed. Northern Ireland is a better place to live in today than it was when I moved there. It's certainly not perfect, far from it, but police officers can now tell their neighbours what they do for a living, teenagers can work anywhere in the city without the genuine fear they could be abducted and murdered on their way home. That's progress, believe it or not. The price of this is accepting people who were responsible for a lot of the violence, anger and murder now have important roles, make decisions, and walk like statesmen and women. It's a bitter, bitter pill, but surely better than the alternative. I think so, at least.2 points

Financial stability first and foremost. A complete overhaul of the commercial side which I personally think is amateurish Getting the correct management in place A complete overhaul of the scouting system we seem to miss out on getting the best of the young promising lads and coaching of the youngsters we need them to get the best we can get in place And as Frankie hints at if they’re were to be some kind of share issue I and I’m sure others wouldn’t mind putting our hands in our pockets1 point

I think he's made a number of good signings, with the exact profile of player we need going forward. He's also been ruthless in offloading all the previous duds, reducing the squad and wage bill which was necessary. I've argued for a while that we now need to see the acquisition of quality first-team signings, which his clear out should now allow. Punting him would be short-sighted, IMO.1 point

I say it until I'm blue in the face we've got defenders who can't defend that's no use to man nor beast look through the season's results and I would imagine very few clean sheats1 point

Only my opinion, but I think that we got the defensive line up wrong. Tav should have been on the right and Nsiala in as a centre half. I'd have put Yilmaz on the left, but looking at the strapping on the Turk's hamstring, maybe in hindsight, Jefte was the right option. Thing is though, it was going okish until the unfathomable decision to shunt an effective Diomande out to the left. Thereafter, it was a matter of time.1 point

It wasn't a great game by any stretch of the imagination not even a good game but we trailed in every department so it's back to the bread and butter stuff of the league run in secure our second place and look forward to better things.1 point

Of course it is important BM, I'm pulling Uilleam's pisser. That said, I regard the geo-political material more important given its actual and potential consequences. Let's get back to The really important stuff, footy.1 point

Women's rights are not important, then? Tricky to argue that, but I am sure you will be able to put the gals straight on these matters.1 point

I would assume that the soon-to-be owners have people in mind, as well as a certain sum set aside for him and the upcoming playing staff. How this money can be implemented according to UEFA rules (which somehow seem to hamper only clubs from certain countries) is an interesting matter, too.1 point

Yeah Coventry against the Birmingham clubs are practically derbies and high a bit of bite. Its a short trek but poor Plymouth have the 450 mile journey up to Middlesboro today. But they can give the Sunderland fans a wave on the way past as they travel down to Bristol.1 point

Nope. Minimal at best. The one big failure was the starting line-up at Dundee. He has his hands tied behind his back with players unfit and unable to meet the demands, and there is no reason to believe that Clement or anyone else would have done it any differently than him. McCausland and Pröpper did their worst, and substitutions were no worse than what we have seen before. At the end, you need to have players up for it, and here's the one big problem that we have had all season. It didn't and doesn't really matter who we put out on the field, it always looks like a team that doesn't know each other, what positions they supposedly play, how to pick a good pass, where the goal stands ... and usually a combination of all that at various stages of each game. One can probably count a handful of good and solid displays for 90 minutes during the league season (yes, I am being kind), while, for some reason, the European games were better. Barry beat that lot at the Scumhut, maybe we can at least retain the bragging right this season with another good show at Ibrox, as little as this might mean.1 point

Thankfully, I was enjoying the evening at the first of the final Best-of-Seven series for the German ice-hockey title and got home with happy memories. Scanned the thread in here and over at FF and, given our state and the fact that we were never in with a chance, it is still amazing how decisions go against us in vital games and moments. Be it the League Cup Final, or yesterday's non-penalty. The German commentator of the highlights had a wee chuckle at the referee's ineptness. Since I haven't seen much else, I spare any thoughts on selection and substitutions. Just one observation from previous games (and months). Jefte will probably make a decent left midfielder. Perhaps a decent defensive left midfielder. But I don't think he is made for the demands of Scottish football and, as much as I like him, should be an asset for the summer window. The complete opposite is Nsiala. All that aside, we need to make sure that the next manager comes in as early as possible, and is a manager who knows what is required in Scotland. No four months settling period, no test fields, no projects. Unless he gets enough money to get people in who beat all the dross in Scotland hands down. Not many aside from Gerrard spring to mind, but his line-ups still give me the creeps too ...1 point

Nsiala for me - solid defensively and used the ball well too. A bizarre decision not to bring him on when Ridvan got injured.1 point

Might have been a different story if the referee had done his job in the first half and awarded a penalty & sent off the defender.1 point

Well said John ! As a marine, I did 2 six month tours in the early 80's in West Belfast and down by the border. Haven't been in years but it can only be better with relative peace. Diplomacy to stop killing and mayhem, always very difficult, seems to be a dying art.1 point

Let’s not forget all the innocent people murdered by the loyalist mobs either in places like Greysteel and McGurks bar and people like Victor Arbuckle an innocent policeman murdered by the UVF the first of many police officers murdered by terrorists what Blair’s government did was wrong we should still be hunting down the murderers from all sides1 point
