Some more detail: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6158247/2025/02/26/rangers-49ers-leeds-takeover-explained/ The outline of a deal for Rangers to be taken over by a US investor group has been agreed with a period of due diligence to be undertaken before completion. The purchase will be done via a single investment vehicle encasing both Cavenagh and 49ers. Cavenagh will be the larger party, which could be crucial re SFA rules on dual ownership. After negotiations with the current bloc of major shareholders, the parties have agreed a set of variable routes to ensure they reach a 51% majority. King, Bennett & Scott will exit (21.5%). The other major shareholders have agreed to sell a significant enough portion each to get Cavenagh & 49ers to 51%. Negotiations to make the numbers add up have been led by Taylor, Halsted & Letham. The investors won’t need to make a compulsory offer to the remaining shareholders when they go above 30% due to a rule change this month re unlisted PLCs. Talks have included investment post-takeover. They were also made aware of Clement’s sacking.8 points

So fully responsible for not forcing us to sell half our squad, still being able to buy players like Igamane and reaching the last 16 in Europe. I know you only want to look at them as being the big bad and refuse to see any positives but things could be a hell of a lot worse if it wasn't for them.5 points

First and foremost, I’m delighted for Barry tonight. I would have been gutted if this has gone the other way because people were ready to pounce and villify him (for clarity, not people on this forum!). Congrats Barry on a great start.4 points

The priority for the 49ers investment group will be profit above anything else. It will seek to extract a return on investment. This is a stark contrast to covering losses by various means. It is also far removed from Glasgow. If things go badly, on the pitch, then they will be far removed from any criticism. This is largely the case for the existing owners but it will be much worse with the next ones.4 points

If the 49ers control 51% then the Parks 11.5% largely become irrelevant.4 points

I don't like manager interviews. I'm not a fan of listening to Ferguson either. Despite that I made an exception and listened to his initial club interview and his first press conference. Nothing much to report aside from one amusing point. I was overjoyed when Ferguson explained that he wouldn't share any insight into his team, or playing style, ahead of the match. It was refreshing as he doesn't have a reputation for keeping the press in the dark. It was also amusing since he was happy to talk about how his team would be a pressing team when talking to our own media team.3 points

I’m hearing that the Parks are the main dissenters in terms of willingness to sell their shares. As ever, take with a pinch of salt as not hearing first hand.3 points

With Clement gone it’ll be interesting to see how Dessers gets on. It’s no secret I don’t think Clement was his biggest admirer from their time together at club Brugge. Second half tonight he looked unplayable at times. Scored 2 & set up another with a superb touch to Diomande. If Barry Ferguson gets more from Dessers than Clement did it will prove a point or two to some people2 points

When you look at Celtic’s line up last night they had very good players in every position the way we are we just can’t match them the present board have done their best they might be successful business men in their own field but are clueless when it comes to running a football club the loans are much appreciated but they have run their course we need change and néed it now or as soon as possible .2 points

I see the things I mentioned as certain but I understand why others will think they are possible rather than certain. I think the risky part is the idea that they will be able to switch from loss to profit while competing for the Scottish league.2 points

I wonder if I’ve been a bit hasty about BF. How would Slot or Guardiola or even Ancelotti have got on at Kelty, Clyde or Alloa?2 points

My fear is that with the whole takeover and need for new management structure (both manager, coaches and higher up the footballing structure as well as the executive side of things) the chances of being prepared for the early CL stages are very slim. We're possibly hoping for a very easy lead into it and a bit of luck to progress the early stages and have at least some semblance of structure in place for the actual group stages. I hope I'm wrong but I feel that it might be a writeoff season from a European perspective unless we get lucky.2 points

This is nothing but a move to win over the fans for the short term. Cram as many legends into the coaching staff for a few months and wait till it all blows over. And that's absolutely fine.2 points

No of course not, we can afford to lose £15m every year....can't we?2 points

After the first half hour I enjoyed that. Effort, aggresion, clearing the ball, winning headers and taking chances, it was all there. Add to that substitutions at the right time in both halves strengthened the team. It is a simple game.1 point

Think the way Barry pushed things from the side in a strong animated style shocked the team into action whereas the old cement Clement was unable to.1 point

Jose Mourinho said the same, something along the lines of when he started managing, he managed men who could take criticism. Now if he criticises any players they run away to cry to the CEO or their agent.1 point

Couldn't agree more. I can't remember many of these at all of late, but that may due to the previous heavy schedule of games before? What was most surprising? The happy, smiling, laughing, demeanour of the players! Almost like a great weight had been lifted from their shoulders!1 point

Buckling our Swash. It is official, Rangers have appointed an interim management team of Barry Ferguson, Allan McGregor, Billy Dodds and, Neil McCann. The successors to Phil and Co have three months to steer the good ship, Rangers into calmer waters. The first question is, whose hand is on the tiller? I suspect Barry's experiences of taking the helms at Kelty, Clyde and, Alloa will see him donning the Gaffer's hat? The others will take an oar, all staining for most necessary purchase. I find the appointments to be largely underwhelming but, I admire the displayed battle speed in ramming the rotten hulk, Pacific Quay. BBC Scotland has failed to repel boarders as we have captured two of their broadcasting regulars. I loved Neil McCann as a player and we should remember he and his family suffered horrific levels of abuse and intimidation after signing. The Billy Dodds addition is strange, this is a character who went out of his way to scream, "I no longer consider myself to be a Rangers supporter" in an attempt to reposition himself when seeking a regular gig in Sunday broadsheet journalism. A successful Jolly Roger flagged raid will have repercussions. There will be a rush inside PQ to label, 'the EBT Four' and ensure this three month adventure is effectively viewed as a walk the plank exercise. RAB Cosgrove will wield the trident ensuring a boiling briney of ridicule : Why did Rangers overlook Neil Lennon again? Greegsy will walk away again the way he walked away from Scotland. Barry is thick, cue the Pageone jokes and Barry thinks a low block is Lego. The staunchometer is hitting fully segged brown brogue levels. Season tickets are about to go on sale. The 49ers are ensuring Sevco liquidation. We will be keel hauled around the roaring forties.1 point
