I've generally found McCann to be unbiased. I don't recall him ever mocking or ridiculing the club. Dodds, on the other hand....8 points

Jesus wept. Just checked my phone for the first time today and this news is what greets me. Utterly depressing. Billy f*cking Dodds? I'd rather Clement had stayed.6 points

I don't think any Rangers fan would doubt Barry Ferguson's love for the club or his contribution as a player. However, I simply cannot take the suggestion he's a suitable Head Coach seriously. I genuinely hope he proves me wrong and obviously wish him and his team all the best.6 points

We have ceased being a serious football club.6 points

I'm surprised that so many are surprised by this. Who else was going to come in for a couple of months?5 points

It's been barely mentioned what effect the loss of Andries Ulderink had on Clement and the team. The assistant manager is usually the bridge between the manager and the players, the person a player goes to if he has something he wants to discuss, the one the manager relies on to get across his ideas, keep on top of training and have a quiet word when required. Ulderink had a low profile with the support, but I wonder how important he was to Clement and the squad. I'm with @Rousseau, as unpopular as it clearly is I'd have kept Clement in place until the director of football is appointed or the takeover happens, which ever comes first. No way we can appoint a permanent successor now, no one sane is taking the job until those things are sorted out. Barry Ferguson apparently being in the running for the job is utterly depressing.5 points

My three things in life I love are Rangers family my family and my Armed Forces family. I wrote this last year Driving along the A93 Things that are forever seen I set off yesterday morning along the A93 from Braemar,to Balmoral, along the River Dee. I’ll always remember, with a poppy on my car, on the battles we fought both near and far. It helps to evaluate my sometimes sombre mood on how important it is to live each and every day and not to just squander it or throw it all away. As I reach Aboyne,I'm suddenly welled up with pride as a guard of honour is laid on by each side. Row after row of poppies painted red to honour our present, the fallen, and dead. I take a left, I think it's along the B993, where my mind starts to wonder at some of the things we take granted for free. If you have a car, display your poppy with pride. As it's a poignant reminder, a call to dare, I say, to withstand. For each poppy displayed,a story is told, Of bravery and sacrifice, of hearts pure and bold. It's not just a flower, but a beacon of light, For those who were/are willing to put up a good fight. Wear your poppy with pride and grace, A symbol of honor, a noble place. Lest we forget RF5 points

As much as this had to happen, I take no pleasure in any Rangers manager getting sacked. In fact, I would go as far to say that it makes me pretty sad to be honest. I really liked Clement. He had a certain charm and he seemed like a nice guy but it wasn't to be. Good luck Phil.5 points

The majority wanted Clement out, he's out! no point in getting too angry about an interim appointment!.4 points

Who made the decision to put that management "team" in place? I doubt it was Patrick Stewart, so who decided that the ex-manager of Kelty Hearts and Alloa, who has been out of work for 3 years, is the best candidate to take us into the last 16 of the Europa League? I'd hoped we'd moved away from the old boys act, but it's back with a vengeance.4 points

I'm still of the opinion that it is a mistake to sack him now. I would have waited until the summer.4 points

I am very much enjoying the fallout from the appointment(s). You get what you deserve. Seriously - it couldn't have been a permanent appointment given the off-field situation, so who else would be an interim for a couple of months?3 points
-
Anyway, the main objective has been reached. Clement has been removed (6 months to late) and all going well, we'll have regime change by the end of the season.3 points
-
I'm actually okay with that interim solution. We have some decent players but, collectively, they just didn't grasp what it means to play for Rangers and the lung-busting efforts you are mandated to give when wearing the jersey. Between this interim management group, I think they can come up with a solid formation and tactical strategy whilst ensuring players are laying their bodies on the line - especially for the remaining timer we have in Europe. They may not have them playing silky, pretty football, but if they can get them to grind out results with a gritty, physical determination then that'll do til the end of the season.3 points

It's depressing, but I don't think it matters; It's temporary. We just need to get through it.3 points

Four lads, a dream ignited, Rangers' flame, forever bright. No fortune fuels their burning quest, Just tradition, put to the test. With hearts ablaze and spirits high, We will reach for greatness, touch the sky. No wealth we crave, no riches we seek, Just Rangers' glory, strong and meek. If fortune smiles, then let it be, But first, the soul, for all to see. Four lads, a dream, a timeless call, To make Rangers great, standing tall.3 points

To be fair, when a takeover happens, it is usually a clean sweep all round and they will certainly want to appoint a new coach. At the moment we cannot afford to hire a long-term coach knowing he is likely to be gone in few months. That's why it seems sensible to appoint Charai.3 points
-
I partly agree - hence why I think we should have kept PC until the summer. But now that he's gone, surely it's even more of a lack of foresight to make a permanent decision now when we've got takeover talks, a search for a DoF, and a club-wide review in the works?3 points
-
You keep mentioning this, but isn't it better that we're a basket case? They've then got value to add. There's a reason they're not looking at buying Them.3 points

The rent-a-quote backroom team! This would be the equivalent of a black hole of knowing the club.3 points

I think Gerrard could only work as a permanent appointment. If he's a caretaker then I think he would just go through the motions with little to gain for anybody involved.3 points

I agree with all you have said. The danger of doing nothing as you don't want to choose the wrong investor is real (for me at least). Thankfully for Rangers my indecision does not matter.3 points

It'll be an interim manager until takeover is done.3 points

Walter Smith was rightly furious with both the immature and stupid idiots. Appointing this level of person as interim manager is ripping the pish out of your own club. Having a square go with the toilet wall is probably representative of what brought him such managerial success in non-league football but whether it will faze Jose Mourinho is up for debate.2 points

Possibly. It's just my opinion. I'd prefer PC to Barry Ferguson.2 points

1 single trophy in almost 4 years and constant sackings since tells you all you need to know about the guy.2 points

There's lots of candidates out there. Are you saying that if another SPL club or a Championship club in England were looking for a temporary manager they couldn't come up with a better solution than an ex-Alloa manager who's been out of work for 3 years?2 points

Buckling our Swash. It is official, Rangers have appointed an interim management team of Barry Ferguson, Allan McGregor, Billy Dodds and, Neil McCann. The successors to Phil and Co have three months to steer the good ship, Rangers into calmer waters. The first question is, whose hand is on the tiller? I suspect Barry's experiences of taking the helms at Kelty, Clyde and, Alloa will see him donning the Gaffer's hat? The others will take an oar, all staining for most necessary purchase. I find the appointments to be largely underwhelming but, I admire the displayed battle speed in ramming the rotten hulk, Pacific Quay. BBC Scotland has failed to repel boarders as we have captured two of their broadcasting regulars. I loved Neil McCann as a player and we should remember he and his family suffered horrific levels of abuse and intimidation after signing. The Billy Dodds addition is strange, this is a character who went out of his way to scream, "I no longer consider myself to be a Rangers supporter" in an attempt to reposition himself when seeking a regular gig in Sunday broadsheet journalism. A successful Jolly Roger flagged raid will have repercussions. There will be a rush inside PQ to label, 'the EBT Four' and ensure this three month adventure is effectively viewed as a walk the plank exercise. RAB Cosgrove will wield the trident ensuring a boiling briney of ridicule : Why did Rangers overlook Neil Lennon again? Greegsy will walk away again the way he walked away from Scotland. Barry is thick, cue the Pageone jokes and Barry thinks a low block is Lego. The staunchometer is hitting fully segged brown brogue levels. Season tickets are about to go on sale. The 49ers are ensuring Sevco liquidation. We will be keel hauled around the roaring forties.2 points

No chance. We had hit rock bottom. Completely lost the dressing room. Nothing can be worse than where we are just now.2 points

Have no idea why McCann and Dodds are anywhere near the club , the both of them mock and ridicule everything at the club every chance they get with their biased BBC companions. Would rather have seen K Thomson and Iain Ferguson before these two.2 points

I don't think that would be coached by the goalkeeping coach. I was under the impression that they join the rest of the group for build-up play because it's a team task.2 points
-
My main reservation is with McGregor as goalie coach if we assume he is to be permanent. Can he really coach Jack Butland in the arts of distribution a la the modern goalkeeper?2 points
-
Probably the best options we can get. AFAIK, Kevin Thomson is already there, isn't he? Good luck especially to Neil McCann. These guys - bar the Moroccan - all know what is required, both on and off the pitch. Whether they can work something out with the players we have right now is anyone's guess. We'll have to wait and see what develops on and off the pitch in the summer.2 points

Ferguson, OMFG !! We have crossed a line. Patrick must be working for Peter or maybe for those who write 'The Banter Decades'.2 points

Think Barry had a 27% win ratio. At.....Alloa. cf Charai who won the AFCON U23 with Morrocco. Barry is a keelie cf to the articulate gentleman that was Clement. Struth, Waddell or Walter he is not. Saying that I hope he and his team at least stop the rot. But I'll be jiggered if he is the long-term manager.2 points

My point is that something should have been in place. Unless, of course, there was, and the Dollar Boys put the steever in. Recruiting an Assistant Manager, some few weeks ago, on a longish contract (i I r c), did seem a little strange, when it was pretty bleeding obvious that PC was on borrowed time. Unless, of course that was an appointment, before anointment.......... (I think I mentioned this, somewhat tongue in cheek, a few days ago.) Overall, I think that Ibrox decision making is almost wholly reactive. That may be due to having nobody actually in charge, beyond the nominal.2 points
-
With takeover talks, a search for a DoF, and a club-wide review in the works - not to mention having nothing to play for - any permanent appointment would be short-sighted in the extreme.2 points
-
Looking from the outside, the US guys will probably see an even better opportunity now. From a buyer perspective. And with Gerrard you will probably also have a big name manager ready again, a name with a great draw. Depending on the money he will get, this may work out.2 points

The Board has had weeks -if not months, actually- to consider PC's future as Manager. If he had 'turned things around', significantly, the Board would have breathed a collective sigh of relief, at having no decision to make, and he would have continued in his role. Clearly he hasn't done so. It also looked increasingly unlikely that he would be able do so. The Board could have elected to muddle through, evading decisive action, or to have sacked him. The results and performances v QP, and St Mirren were so poor as to force a decision on his tenure and Rangers, again, is now sans Manager. Surely, the board had a Plan in place, for replacement of management and coaching staff: it is not as though this situation occurred overnight. PCs position has looked increasingly untenable for some time. The only reasons for not having an alternative available, in short order, are that the Board would perhaps have had to circumvent the Director of Football, who is close to the Manager, and/or Boardroom politics and factionalism; and let's not forget the mooted purchase of at least a significant %age of shares by an outside consortium. Hence we have some temporary, ad hoc, arrangement, while somebody 'searches' for the right fellow. Truly, a camel is a horse designed by committee.2 points

Is this just a chance to add another string to add to Dujon Sterling's bow, he's already got plenty of experience of bing on the sideline2 points

Will ultimately be remembered for an unbelievable collapse in his first season where he blew an incredible chance to claw back some ground from Celtic. 15 points dropped in only 10 games, and almost a carbon copy of how he finished at Monaco. I’m not sure this season will be memorable long term to anyone. Very frustrating we doubled down on him and ignored red flags for a long time but at least it’s done now.2 points

When I first heard of the potential takeover, my first thought was “Why would an American investment company want to buy Rangers, if not for nefarious intentions?”. My negative thoughts were no doubt influenced by the Craig Whyte experience and my experience of takeovers in the workplace. Since the initial reaction, I’ve read and listened to Rangers fans views on the matter. At first it seemed to be that the overwhelming mood was positive but then more doubts were expressed. I still have doubts over this but I’m probably in the minority. The investment fund will be looking at a return. Now this could be brought about by making us successful in Europe where the big money is to be made, more lucrative sponsorship deals, though again exposure in Europe would be required to maximise this and better deals on merchandise etc. I would expect that we will see a hike in ticket prices. I’m sure others can think of other sources of revenue that a clued up board could pursue. But should the European breakthrough not happen, the danger is that other sources of revenue, which we as fans may not be so keen on, will come about. Sale and lease back of Ibrox? Allowing a full stand for Celtic fans? I’m sure there are other aspects which other can think may be detrimental. We as fans take great pride in our history as a club, our traditions. Now overseas investors may take these as positive attributes and build on them. However, they may see them as anachronisms in the modern game and phase them out. If we think at the moment that protests against they way the club is being run is the way to bring about change (and it was successful when the Australian tour was announced), I think any overseas investor will not be moved by such actions. My great fear is that we lose out identity. However part of that is that we are the top team in Scotland and we’re in danger of being left behind in that regard. In conclusion, I don’t know what is the best way forward. All I know is that I’m worried – either way.2 points
