Look, you can interpret it any way you want. Some fans will never take to Dessers and appears Lawrence is also in that list. We continually talk down our players, Dessers isn't playing well at the moment, but we're hardly playing well as a team. If we're honest, it's not just Lawrence and Dessers that aren't good enough, you could add another 8 or 9 to that list. However, neither Lawrence nor Dessers hide and both are contributing more than most this season (thankfully or we'd be in a much worse position).6 points

It's good that the project striker we shouldn't have signed played well and scored when he came on. 🙂5 points

Sad to hear of the untimely passing of Lex Shields the other day. Lex was a great wee player for Bo'ness United and starred in their last Junior Cup victory against Ballieston at Ibrox in 1984. Lex was granted a testimonial by Bo'ness and Rangers supplied the opposition and brought a decent team to Newtown Park including the late, great Davie Cooper. Rest easy Lex.3 points

We can't beat a low block. If FCSB had camped out in their own box like Killie did then it would have been a different game.3 points

The victory was enjoyable, but more importantly was the performance and the reaction of most of the players. I'd heard it whispered that the players weren't playing for Clement but last night they clearly were. There was an urgency and energy about us last night that's been missing recently. That suggested to me that the players are still with the manager and were also unhappy with recent performances. That's important in the grand scheme of things. I'm far from convinced we've turned a corner or that we won't struggle to breakdown St Mirren on Sunday, but who knows.3 points

Dessers and Lawrence contribute very little if they don't score goals.3 points

100% agree. I was simply using Diamonde as an example of our bipolar nature as fans. Cerny was equally poor a few weeks back (and Sunday) and he also stood out last night. I feel we just need to show a little patience with this group of players. Remember how Sima was viewed in the first month of his Rangers stint last season. Look how that turned out.3 points

Was at game and thought Butland got away with one but I haven't seen any film of the game. Some great play, some not so great but four excellent goals. Will not be seat subbing for Sunday now.3 points

I was hoping that the form of young Jefte had put an end to the Yilmaz fan-boys........😀2 points

Goal #1 - No. He's static in the box. Unless you want to redefine movement and runs to include just being there. A sack of Tatties would do the same job. Goal #2 - OK, I will give him that. At the very least he gives the defender some doubt as to whether the pass will be slipped through. Goal #3 - No. He falls down before he reaches the box. Goal #4 - No. He's not on the pitch. His replacement scores. I actually did agree with what McInnes said about the movement of our double pivot: Barron being freed from being the lone #6, etc. Like their press conferences, their analysis and insight is refreshing only until they lose their first game, and then the old cliches come out: Beale gave a lot of detail until he waffles; GvB gives them nothing until he mumbles, etc.2 points

The sooner we replace that pair, the better. Nowhere near good enough if we want to challenge for the title.2 points

I agree with your premise, but last night FCSB were missing several first-team players. They were not very good. A full-strength FCSB is a different proposition. Fortunately, we don't need to worry about an away game.2 points

F*ck off! WE'RE WINNING THE EUROPA LEAGUE!2 points

I think as a support we tend to get too high after a win and too low after a defeat. Many were far too negative, end of the world etc after Sunday and many are far too high after last night, world beaters again. Lets see what Sunday brings.2 points

Missed the game live but saw it when I got home from the gig. Like others have said, we got lucky with the Butland "foul" but as PC said afterwards it didn't stop Butland having a decent game after it. However not the first time he's looked slow and uncomfortable with the ball at his feet. Scored 4 great goals and in previous seasons its been "Tav Thursday", now turning into "Tom Lawrence Thursday". Lawrence (like a lot of our players) gets a lot of unfair criticism but he has shown he can score regularly at this level. Hoping his injury isn't too serious, bit knowing our luck....... Cerny took both his goals really well, especially the 2nd which was a fantastic team goal. Great to see Igamane scoring, but like the manager said, let's not hype him up into something he is not. The lad will need time to develop and isnt a player who'll play 60 games a season (yet). Didn't think the hand ball form the Bajrami cut-back was a penalty, not much the guy could do as he was sliding to block the cross. Overall a decent performance and result but let's be honest FCSB weren't very good.2 points

Yes, that will always be the case. *cough* Yilmaz *cough*1 point

... and that is what teams in Scotland do against us bar the Scum and teams in half a handful of games per season, if they think they can do it. And that is the case since Warburton ... They say: Never change a running system! But never change a broken system?1 point

Barron is a breath of fresh air, he gets my vote again. Add Lawrence to the did well list.1 point
-
That's my point: if they don't score goals (which is their main contribution because they don't assist) then they do very little. Dessers started well, then it dried up. Lawrence continues to contribute, which is why I didn't think he deserved to be left out. I'm not criticising them, per se, that's their game. They are useful in certain situations - over the past couple of years I've called for Lawrence's inclusion in certain games because we needed a goal threat from deep. I don't think I'm being controversial.1 point

Watching Barron last night reminds me of Alex McDonald and as for our dopey goalkeeper hope someone tells him to stop daydreaming1 point

Yeah two very Copper-esque goals That Baillieston team included Crawford Baptie and a certain Andy Walker.1 point

It's not a handball if the ball hits a bracing arm. That's the rules, iirc.1 point

So were we, I'm sure they decided to rest a few players, their choice.1 point

Interesting to listen to McInnes last night talking about Dessers. Said his movement, runs etc were essential for our goals. Not for the 1st time, McInnes analysis of our games is refeshing and insightful. EDIT - thought that Lawrence had a very good 45mins1 point
-
Regarding the handball, if the player had slid in the same fashion between the posts to block a certain goal and the ball accidentally hit his arm would the ref have awarded a penalty? can't work out the difference.1 point

You just said we're guilty of getting too high and too low. You had us getting pumped by FCSB and now we're pumping St Mirren on the back of it?1 point

FCSB were rotten last night - we deserved our win, there were some positives to take from the game (sounds like our victory in Malmo) but let's not get carried away. As the manager said himself, we need to do what we did for the majority of the game last night consistently, game after game. Something we haven't managed this season.1 point

I'm expecting contract extensions for certain players and the manager after last night's historic victory.1 point

Kilmarnock weren't very good on Sunday but they won. You can only beat who is in front of you. FCSB beat POAK away from home last time round and they are second in the Greek league at the moment. Several places above Olympiakos. That suggests they are of a decent enough standard.1 point
-
Yeah they were rubbish. Lets not ger carried away.1 point
-
I think they got both of those decisions correct. The player doesn't get the ball so it's a foul. Soft, but it's a foul. The lad's arm is on the ground when it hits his arm so it's not a penalty. Those are the rules.1 point
-
For me, it was a penalty. The defender moves his arm towards the ball to block it.1 point

No, we were under a UEFA season long ban (after ECWC win 72). Hence, UEFA don't recognise the first Super Cup between us and Ajax. According to Wikipedia we had scored 601 European goals prior to the game last night but that included the 3 goals we scored in the Super Cup.1 point
-
Both were correct decisions. The player stands on Butlands foot (and if we are talking about the same penalty incident) there is a rule regarding an arm whilst on the floor.1 point

Well done !! A real Thursday night performance. Very good for goal difference. The wagon still has four wheels and rolls onto St.Mirren at Ibrox. I think we (Cerny's first) might have scored our 600th goal in official European club competition* tonight. * Super Cup '73 games against Ajax weren't official.1 point

We bring on a right-back, but not for the Old Man, but to allow the latter to become a right-winger ... ... while McCausland must be wondering what he's done wrong.1 point
