Very common trajectory for players that we sign. Anybody remember the euphoria after Raskin had played a couple of games? He looked like a breath of fresh air too. We can't spend our way out of our problems. At some point somebody needs to figure out a way to get more out of the players that we have. Good management and coaching is required.7 points

Better measure will be the points totals after 2 rounds of fixtures (22 games). It will have to get a whole load worse before Clement is sacked. The support have to remember that generally, we pledged patience and that to repeat the annual sacking would only set us back further, #omnishambles² Get used to the fact that we aren't winning the league this season and give it a chance. This season was never going to be pretty. The expectation and pressure that comes from that are only hindering any possible improvement.5 points

You don't need an xG to tell you that 2 shots on target (Cerny Dessers) and 1 noteworthy cross (Tav) during 90mins of football is a disgraceful stat in itself.5 points

I genuinely wish Clement would at least try something different. Why not go 3 at the back yesterday with big Kasa and play two up top? The lack of flexibility is the biggest red flag for me. Oh and the the lack of desire in the players. And the lack of tempo. And the lack of aggression...etc etc...4 points

Our recent performances, stats aside, are getting reminiscent of Beale's tenure. And GvB's. We don't have enough creativity in the middle of the park. Barron is a decent enough DM but Diamonde seems to be getting gradually worse, creating virtually nothing and Lawrence is a waste of a jersey.4 points

My main criticism of Beale was the xG difference. Basically we were not creating enough chances - never mind taking them - to deserve to win games comfortably. Beale's average difference was 0.94 difference between our xG and the opponents xGA. That's not even a goal more than our opponents. That improved significantly under Clement last season (and that's with the end of season slump built-in). However, this season it's actually worse than Beale, at 0.86. Damning.4 points

We could go for a different approach. Get managers in on a 6 month contract and change every six months. Go for a neverending steady new manager bounce. I'll phone John Gilligan and chuck my hat in for the CEO gig.3 points

Its bizarre, he was a breath of fresh air when he first came in. He also seems to struggle to play 90 minutes, which for a guy that cost 4.5 million is a concern.3 points

Auld Fergie isn’t doing much these days after being bumped at United ask him if he’d be interested in a Saturday job 😆3 points

Unfortunately for Clement I think Aberdeen have killed him off. I've always said that it's going to take a season or more to get back on track and that this season is not worth judging him on. However, it's very hard to justify that when Aberdeen are going on such a good run with no where near the resources.3 points

It's partly Clement's fault, but it's mainly the DoF's fault. As in, he is responsible, but I wouldn't blame him, per se, as I did like the recruitment strategy as a whole. We were in for an experienced 6 (Jordan) but it didn't work out. I would assume we were looking for forwards, too - I couldn't be certain, though. It's clear, evidenced by his recent interview, that the DoF chose not to persue players that weren't veted by the scouting process when our first choices didn't work out. I see that as a prudent approach - even if I was disappointed we couldn't strengthen properly with more first team players. In response to your other point, elsewhere, about cost cutting - I think that was necessary. That doesn't mean we should accept being less competitive, though. The reality is that our wage bill is higher than their's, so it's not that we're being out-spent, it's just that we have not been using what we have wisely. Again, Koppen's more prudent approach is the correct solution in that regard.2 points

But Gerrard and Gio had options as to who played number 9 and they all brought something different to the team. Morelos - strong and could score. DeFoe - most natural finisher we've had since McCoist. Roofe - best finisher we've had since McCoist. During 55 season we had those 3 plus Kent, Aribo, Tav, Arfield all chipping in with goals and assists. You could even add in Barisic assists as well. We've gone from that to a situation where if Dessers (taking away any discussions of his ability) doesn't score, we don't score. And we're wondering why we can't win games? It's being marketed as a "rebuild" but in reality is cost-cutting and points to our financial situation being worse than we all think.2 points

He was willing to let Dessers go in the Summer but Dessers wanted to stay. I'm not sure Clement can be fully blamed for the striker problems. Beale brought in Dessers and Danilo, one of whom is shite and the other has never been off the treatment table.2 points

A 4-4-2 makes sense to me as there is a chance two strikers might hit the net if given proper service.Yesterday there was no service at all to our one striker.2 points

I think that the formation and style of play the manager wants to go with needs a #9 who can hold up the ball and pass to a team mate.2 points

I've been critical of Butland lately, but I'm not sure what he is supposed to do at that goal. Soutter has to win the duel, he doesn't and the striker gets the luck with a deflection - not sure how the keeper stops that one.2 points

My point is we have been sourcing players that fit your criteria. Young, ambitious, with a desire to move to bigger leagues. You just compared Jefte with 'prime Barisic' - are you expecting us to sign kids that are better than Croat internationals in their prime? That none of these players seem to be progressing is either an issue with their mindset or a coaching issue (Cortez excluded, due to injuries), although could be a bit of both.2 points

Clement is to blame of our inability to win games, not Aberdeen. This is now his team, his signings, his tactics, his training, his fitness regime etc. 1 solitary goal away from home says it all, that's nothing to do with Aberdeen and all to do with Clement/players.2 points

Or the current board take a hands-off approach and hire the correct people to run the club. Either way, we need change and we need it now.2 points

We should still be beating the likes of Kilmarnock. Several of the players yesterday cost more than 1 or 2 million.2 points

It’s time for the fans to vote with their feet stay away there must be better things to do than wasting their time watching this dross week in week out2 points

But this is the rule rather than the exception. 1 title in 13 years shows we are serial runners up, we are miles behind Celtic and regressing at an alarming rate. The board are not fit for purpose and killing the club with their mistakes, indecision etc. The fans are used to losing, to poor performances other than 55 and run to EL Final. Rangers are no longer the club / institution we once were. Previously leaders now drifting closer to Abderdeen, Hibs and Hearts than being Champions. It'll not change as long as the current board are in charge.2 points

F*ck it, I'm not going to stick up for Clement after yesterday's debacle.1 point

So who's fault is it? Clement and Clement alone decided to start this season with 1 fit striker and spent over £1M on a player who he told us wasn't ready to start. That £1M+ would have been better spent on a striker (or a number 6) who could have contributed before October (Igamane still isn't contributing and Danilo is still injured). We are basically trying to win cups, leagues and progress in Europe with 1 striker. Why can't Clement be held fully to blame / responsible for that?1 point
-
Ask the manager. Quite safe to assume that he thinks every alternative is worse. Unless you think 3-at-the-back never occurred to the manager.1 point

Of course it is and most definitely the correct analysis to use , just pointing out how bad yesterday was.1 point

Of course not, but my xG point was based on the wider context of this season.1 point

I didn't say Aberdeen had anything to do with us dropping points. Aberdeen have a new manager and a pretty large change of personnel with fewer resources. The comparison of their fortunes and ours does not give clement a good look. I will bow to the XG god though, hopefully he strikes soon.1 point

It certainly passes the eye test. I always like to back it up with stats, though.1 point

Supporters need to get used to this. The board wrote off the season before it started. The wage bill reduction and no finance to buy new players should tell you everything.1 point

... sorry, but no. Gio's away days were as dire as Clement's and SG's too. SG had one really good season, i.e. 55. And our system and the players clicked in Europe. I have since banished all thoughts of those dire seasons from memory - remember, we are back for 9 (NINE) years now. Almost any Scottish team had sussed our tactics and any new players out (since the days of Warburton) after a couple of months in the season. We never learned or changed tactics, only players. People may want to "see" a difference once the game have started, with this or that player takes up a different role, but such a system only works if you have the players. Which we don't. Neither have we high-scoring centre forwards, nor do we have high-scoring fellow attackers or midfielders contributing enough. Trying one failing thing over and over again, hoping for the better, is basically idiocy. BTW, last season started ... 0-1 away Kilmarnock (ooops) - Beale 2-1 home Servette (dito) CLQ 4-0 home Livingston (dito) 1-1 away Servette (dito) CLQ) 2-1 home Morton (dito) LC 2-2 home PSV (dito) CLQ 2-0 away Ross (dito) 1-5 away PSV (dito) CLQ 0-1 home Scum (dito) 2-0 away St Johnstone (dito) 1-0 home Betis (dito) EL 1-0 home Motherwell (dito) 4-0 Hampden Livingston (dito) LC 1-3 home Aberdeen (dito) Beale sacked after 7 match days, 12 points on the board 1-2 away Aris - Davis 3-0 away St Mirren - Davis 4-0 home Hibs - Clement1 point
