  1. I heard that yesterday in the game, probably explained why their players made no effort to hide shirt pulling and fouling in the box

  2. Enjoyed that tonight in a masochistic way. We spurned so many decent chances and should have put the game to bed in the first half. We played some great one touch football. Excellent team performance. Propper's best performance, Kas did really well for his first start. Bajrami looking very impressive. Well done to the manager again. Don't think we had a failure.

  3. https://www.scottishfa.co.uk/media/12192/kmi-outcomes-21-22-september-2024.pdf Someone will have to explain this to me RE: the two penalty incidents from last weekend's game with Dundee. RE: The first half non-penalty "The panel discussed this decision at length with the majority (3:2) deeming the onfield decision incorrect, noting that the Dundee defender fouled the Rangers attacker. Two panelists believed that the contact was not sufficient to merit the award of a penalty. The majority (3:2) believed the VAR was correct not to intervene while two panelists believed a penalty should have been awarded after a VAR intervention." RE: The 2nd half penalty that was awarded The panel (unanimously) supported the on-field decision, noting that the Dundee defender was caught on the wrong side and subsequently fouled the Rangers attacker. Answers on a postcard please given the first incident clearly had more contact than the second... I'm also rather confused that the majority felt the first incident on-field decision was incorrect but VAR not getting involved was correct

  4. As good as the performance & result was we have to remember there are a lot more difficult ties ahead in this competition!!!, let's not get carried away!. If we can't build on this and flop on Sunday it is going to infuriate the fans!. I really hope it is a corner turned, but we will see what happens on Sunday!.

  5. Going away to the Swedish champions that we and every other Scottish team struggle against, having more of the ball in the first half - not giving them a sniff in both and actually, on the face of it, battering them. If you can't praise the lads after that then might I suggest CBT? I'm happy to slaughter them after rolling over at Parkhead but you've got to give them their flowers when they put in a good performance. A lot of you lads will have lived Rangers in Europe in the 90's, we are not in a position to be displeased with these showings.

  6. He wasn't only one last night Cerny'was unforgivable.

  7. Some real positives for the manager manager last night, who has had to front up for the club in recent weeks more than he ought to. He's slowly coaching this group into a decent team; looking forward to building on this momentum. Agree with a lot of the positive comments about various players - Bejrami, Souttar, Diomande, etc; but the centre half union obliges me to comment on Propper who I thought was really steady and excellent on the ball. There were quite a few times where he pinged balls quickly between the lines as it broke to him, and it really put Malmo on the back foot just at moments where they were trying to press forward.

  8. The ideal start to our Europa League campaign last night. Thought for the most part we were well organised, kept our shape well and really limited Malmo to the odd set-piece whilst clearly looking very dangerous on the counter ourselves with some positive passages of play. No surprise Malmo upped their game for a period after half-time and I did think the manager was a wee bit slow to react to this and we were maybe fortunate not to concede. Barron did have the tendency to jump out of midfield to a degree which left gaps that Cerny and Lawrence sometimes struggled to identify and react to. Bringing on Raskin and Sterling basically shut down the Malmo threat and the 2nd goal really made us comfortable. All in all, a very good team performance but various individuals stood out: Souttar, Propper, Nana, Barron and Bajrami to name a few but everyone played their part. Onto Hibs now and another win really would help us gain more confidence. Credit to the manager and players for reacting well to that Old Firm humbling and not allowing the off-field/boardroom noise to affect their contribution. Can't wait to get back to a full Ibrox on Sunday!

  9. Considering what's happened this season I'm struggling to see how you've watched that game and felt we lacked composure. I thought we were brave and progressive. Obviously our finishing could be far better but a new team will take time to develop. There are so many positives to take from tonight. Barton, Diamonde, Barjami, Nana, Souttar and Propper.

  10. Good interview with Malmo coach post match. Names one Rangers player who his team simply couldn't handle. I'll not ruin the surprise https://www.football-addict.com/en/article/rangers-fc/we-were-torn-apart-malmo-boss-names-one-rangers-star-his-side-simply-could-not-deal-with/66f669caaa9645205b0fa048?utm_campaign=post-auto-article&utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=rangers-addict&date=27_09_2024&fbclid=IwY2xjawFj16JleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHdldi5BMnFKTtTDYXRfhOph6WH_wquGxQsz8sAb1GecU07UCC3qW0qDNCA_aem_Xhts-2Hp4mV1f4cn4XXxrQ

  11. A word of praise for our much maligned defence. When you stop the opposition from getting a shot on goal, you are doing something right. The defensive performance saved the blushes of the missed chances at the other end.

  12. Think it's also down to the fact that we are usually underdogs in Europe, whereas at home we are expected to win against all but one team. Also we are not having to deal with ultra-defensive set-ups.

  13. Definitely one of the most frustrating aspects of his game. Constantly bullied, giving away the ball and falling over. Imagine last night if we had a much better 9 and 10 playing (Lawrence wasn't very good either).

  14. I thought Dessers was really poor last night. His hold up play wasn't good - outwith a couple of instances. He lost the most duels (ground and aerial) of anyone in the match, by quite a distance. This from a player that had very few touches compared to everyone else. He's a big guy; you'd expect him to dominate more. He also missed an open goal. You can never question his work rate, though.

  15. Agreed, there were 3 or 4 chances that fell to other players who should have scored. Thought Dessers deserves praise for his work-rate and hold up / link up play last night even at the times he was completely isolated.

  16. I have frequently wondered that too, all I could come up with is that the typical SPL dross are just spoilers and good at it, prevent any football breaking out. These Euro teams don't do that, it's not like trying to break down the brick wall we might see in the SPL. As for the result I think I was as relieved as I was happy about it, definitely didn't foresee such a relatively commanding performance given the patchiness of late. If Dessers could just start putting away at least some of the gilt edged chances he gets that might help immensely. Making knockout stage could conceivably come down to GD.

  17. Maybe partly, but the performance levels in EL are well above what we deliver in SPL in my opinion. The referee was terrible last night, we should have had at least two pens.

  18. Watching Dalkieth and Broxburn the standard is pretty good but great to see fans turn out and pay their money to stand ona grassy embankment these are the people that keep these teams going well done to them .

  19. If Dessers scored with half of the chances he wastes he’d be a world beater but we’re not to well off in the striker department so his place is safe .

  20. Can't see us dropping our top scorer (by some distance) for a player yet to score at this level in a must win league game. Your "probable" team won't be far off, and neither should it be. At this moment in time, that's our strongest 11 and we need to start playing the same 11 players to get cohesion. If Cortes ever gets fit, he'd be left-side attacker and Bajrami would move to the number 10 role.

  21. Interesting to note that the Swedish clubs (over 50% fan owned) successfully voted against using VAR in their domestic matches. A good Calvinist lot are the Swedes (apart from the Malmo manager, the bloke with a face like a Martian and Johan Mjallby).

  22. I thought Cerny played fine last night despite his miss. Looked a yard or so quicker as well. As such I'd probably stick with him for now to increase his fitness and sharpness but would have no issue with McCausland playing as he's not let us down so far this season when called upon.

  23. Yes big Soapy for me too. Commanding performance. Can he now play 3 full games in a week? Really good performances from most of the team last night, but Souttar, Propper, Dio, Bajrami the pick of the bunch for me.

  24. There was that one moment in the second half which my monitor will remember for some time (because I was going mildly hysterical). Dessers received the ball in their half, had two guys on him, yet all our fellow attackers went backwards to the halfway line rather than supporting him.

  25. This has been a long term problem IMO, I like Dessers, his work rate & his willingness to keep trying has always been there! last night I thought we got more men forward more often to support him and we looked dangerous on the break because of that!.

  26. Only saw the second half but it was as comfortable as could be and they didnt look like scoring even if they were still playing now. As good a result as it is the sitters were bad misses. McCausland and Bajrami - easily the best options in the wide areas and should be starting from now on. Barron is growing into that midfield role nicely but if we could get that extra bit in the No.10 role it could change everything and we could give teams a hiding - I sometimes look at our play and think that we could still go up a couple of gears.
