  1. It's never going to happen in the near future. It could have happened in the early 90s when Sky had so much power and they could have forced the EPL to accept us, but now the EPL has grown exponentially and they don't need Sky and don't need us. UEFA will prevent things like the Atlantic league from happening with moves similar to the new (dreadful) CL and Europa League format. The only way that it could happen would be for a club to win a EU case on something like restraint of trade, but even then we would presumably still be reliant on the EPL voting to accept us, and why would they? We need to accept that we're here in Scotland and plan to improve our situation here.

  2. I think UEFA might be more open to leagues amalgamating now as long as they remain under UEFA's auspices. If the Scots, Dutch, Belgians, Swedes, Danes, Norwegians, Austrians, Portuguese, Serbs, Bosnians and Croats all came together and said we want to change our domestic league set ups it would be difficult for UEFA to ignore a block that size. UEFA got a fright when the Super League thing was launched and they've made concessions to the big clubs and big leagues now to keep them onside. I can't see why UEFA would object to a Scandinavian League being created, for example, that still had promotion and relegation from the various countries involved. The creation of 'new' domestic leagues that might challenge the dominance of the EPL and La Liga might actually be welcomed by UEFA. The various domestic associations would need to be in full agreement too, that might be an issue.

  3. We need to understand how we can maximise the protentional of our club as a leader in Scotland and a massive share of the market. We need to understand how to play football politics better and leverage influence to create scenarios which benefits us. We have been absolutely useless at this for years, Murray was a large part of the problem as he seen himself as a giant who was untouchable. The sooner we realise that in the SPFL that 2 idiots can outvote a genius and start to play smart we will always be swimming upstream.

  5. Just looking at this new setup in the champions league we all know it’s about money but could it backfire as I see it those clubs that do well in this first year of it will coin in a fortune from television gate money and prize money meaning if they are well run will win their domestic league and qualify again and again because the money gap between clubs will be huge it’s going to be very difficult for most clubs to qualify for this competition.

  6. Pretty sure Ceferin gave the Atlantic league the nod tbf. It was Celtic pulling out that's kiboshed it.

  7. The best thing that could happen would be the implementation of a/the 'Super League', breakaway or not. This would enable us lesser mortals, to restructure within each country, and create new cross border league(s), or other competition(s). Once the 'superteams' had buggered off to play in Kuala Lumpur, Quezon City, Singapore, Shanghai, and the like, the also rans would be kicking at an open UEFA door.

  8. We're Rangers, we love a bit of revisionism. I'm sat watching Spurs get turned over by Coventry in the LC with Hadji Wright, a favourite of Beales, leading the line. I genuinely believe the best signings Beale made for us were the ones he didn't make. Which then led me to ponder over how many targets we've missed over the years and the butterfly effect that then ensued. For instance last season we were in for Wright and Whittaker initially before it cooling rapidly, both seemingly identified by Beale. Now for a Butterfly effect: I reckon a front 3 of Sima, Wright and Whittaker wins us the league last season. What do you reckon? Am I chatting sh**e or is there logic in this dreaming? And should we give managers a wee bit more lee way in regards to not getting their no 1 targets, or 2 or 3? I've a feeling Dessers and Lammers were a few names down. Feel free to put in your butterfly effect signings too. Jardel, Ronaldo, Messi - who would've come in and been a Cantona esque signing for us.

  9. In days of old we had a proper reserve league which was good for bringing in and developing youngsters as well as giving players coming back from injury game time to sharpen up their fitness I used to attend lots of reserve matches

  10. No reason to doubt Stevie's info so, as much as we'd arguably prefer gambling firms weren't key sponsors, this appears a very good deal for the club in a financial sense.

  11. I do not know what problem 2 Hollywood stars, American based VC firms, Saudi investment fixes. For me we are in the mess we are in because we have not recruited properly on the footballing side or in the footballing operations department. We have spent money badly. That is the problem. More money does not fix that problem. Especially when that money comes from somewhere that focuses on ROI. The fix to our issues is easy. Do better with the money we have.

  12. Our pathway into the first team is pathetic though. We should be farming Scottish talent Ajax style. If you generate 4x the revenue of the team in third but can't develop your own then wind up the academy man. This should've been the aim under Ally but the management on and off the pitch were scared stiff of wallowing in the lower leagues. Even young domestic talent too - Doig, Ferguson and Shankland should all be playing for Rangers and for a few years by now too. Those decisions post 2012 (lack of) are bearing out to this day. Rant over.
