What does outside investment mean ? Back to (remaining in) the 'good old days' of spending more than we earn, perhaps? How would that go down with the new FFP regulations? Is there a queue of well intentioned extremely wealthy benefactors because I didn't see many of them in 2012. Bennett is at least right in that we firstly have to become viable and it will be painful.3 points

No. He achieved 55 which earns him a place in the Ibrox Pantheon. Then he mismanaged the start of the following season and buzzed off to the Villa.3 points

Bill disagreed with a Board policy which Frankie was compelled by Hate Crime legislation to impose. Bill was suspended. He disagreed with that too and didn’t come back at the end of the suspension. The irony is that he objected to being gagged by the government and has ended up effectively gagged by principle.3 points

Lets give the guy a chance in OUR shirt FFS. I couldn't care less how any of our players play for their country compared to what they do for us3 points

It could also be some of the players arent capable of buying into Clement's methods for one reason or another. Its hard to teach an old dog new tricks for the old guard and then you could be creating a salad bowl instead of a good blend. There has been a good number coming in the door during the summer and we have had a horrendous injury list again so until that eases and the new players are settled we may not see much developing on the pitch for a while. As such I am still fully behind Big Phil, I think he has been unlucky despite some baffling decisions, however this could be down to trust - he see's things day in day out that we dont.3 points

What footballing people should they appoint to run the footballing dept? We’ve had two DoF’s the second of whom caused chaos. I do actually think we’ve got the football dept ok now with Pc & Kloppen Our supporters need to decide if they wish to maintain the status quo & finish second or worse most of the time or accept outside investment to allow us to compete better. And I’m not suggesting foreign investment. There are people here who’d invest but they’d want influence at board level2 points

Back in '86, we were a sleeping giant. Now we are a badly run, financial basket case with a support who have next to no patience. Good luck trying to get the calibre of leadership that we require to directly compete with a club who are miles ahead of us, when money and patience are scarce. A downsizing rebuild. Yet another outside bet. This has been coming. I was accused of being too pessimistic when I talked about it over the years. Restructured European leagues is our best bet to become relevant again. But it won't be in the short term.2 points

Said it before and I'll say it again, it's clear Clement has modern coaching ideas and his setup in principle is sound. You can ask the players if they're on the same page though because I can guarantee the manager didn't want them to ease off and retreat after 10 minutes. There could be communication issues of course but I think there was some stuff that was encouraging on Sunday. It can take a good wee while for teams to implement a managers idea - it took Arteta and Klopp a few seasons and a few 100m to do so. Like others have said, I think sticking with him would be wise and it could be painful this season before we gel - hopefully in time for the new year! If not develop and grow this season and see where we are at the end of it. The nights darkest before the dawn or something cheesy like that.2 points

I'd say that the current situation is very different to pre-Souness in various important aspects. The league is a lot lesss competitive and we find ourselves moored in a very predictable second place. A long way behind the team above and over a season, a long way in front of the provinicial pack. We have went decades spending more money than we generate. We have become used to spending our way (often badly) out of problems. Even after 2012, when things caught up on us. We dressed up the continual overspend as a strategic medium term measure that would be financed and get us back to the top of Scottish football, 'structured losses'. Fine, only we can't shake the addiction. John Bennett rightly recognises the need to change. But it seems to me that he hasn't got the cojones to face up to a support who generally don't really get the extent to which things need to change and the time it may take. Fergus McCann was the guy who turned the other side of the city around and later, they happened upon Peter Lawwell, who took charge of building on those new financial foundations. Two strong characters, who most of the Celtic support didn't/don't care for because the short-term medicine wasn't what they wanted. But they didn't flinch or seem to care about their popularity, headlines and social media 'feedback'. We don't have that type of leadership. We don't have the money to embark on our usual M.O. path to solve problems FFP further complicates matters In a season or two, European football post August will not be a given. The normal timescales of cyclical success in Scottish football no longer apply and as it stands, we depend on them making an complete erse of things. Only way out is for a good manager to be given time to build a team/squad. I thought Clement was that man. Now, I'm not sure but looking at his signings, he does seem committed to the medium term and we need to support the 'project' and cross our fingers. Given expectation timescales, I'm not optimistic. As for what Compo was getting at. When you come away from an OF scudding with questions about the application of some players, it suggests that something isn't quite right.2 points

As we would not be there to win the toss of the coin, they would take centre and score meaning we'd only lose 1-0. Sounds like a plan.1 point

A footballing CEO or even a footballing Chairman. Your 2nd part is 100% correct. It's shit or get off the pan time for the club and fanbase.1 point

Nope. Restructured European leagues are designed to contain clubs at all levels.1 point

Again, I agree but at the moment, we are a sleeping giant, if we were run correctly, we'd be challenging. Currently we have a board who can't even get the basic decisions right and are conspicuous by their absence at a time when we require strong, visible and direct leadership. Their reluctance (or negligence) to appoint footballing people to run the footballing department shows how far out of their depth they are. As a fanbase we are now scared of the thought of outside investment never mind a full blown takeover so we'll be stuck with this bungling board. Depressing.1 point

Then, David Holmes was given the where with all to help bring in a big hitter, Souness alongside England Internationals at a time when European football wasn't effectively, a closed shop and domestic rivals weren't out of sight. There was also scope to significantly increase revenue by filling the stadium. Today, it is a LOT more difficult. We are badly run, have weak leadership, little finance and the challenge will be to maintain attendance levels.1 point

Football supporters in general are never on the same page. For me it seems way early to judge this past transfer window as we have yet to see some of the incoming players. A few others and myself have also stated that one window would never cure all our ills. For that reason I'm still fully behind Big Phil. C'mon The Gers1 point

Not really true. McTominay, Gilmore and L Ferguson are now all playing in Serie A and Robertson is a good full-back. Our problems are in defence and up front.1 point

Speaking with an old pal yesterday and they suggested we are back to the pre-Souness days both on and off the pitch. Initially I thought that this was a little overreaction but on reflection they may have a point. Just like in those bleak days we are HOPING for any improvement but with no real reason to believe itll happen and certainly no expectation that it will.1 point

I think dressing room revolts are the stuff of myth and conspiracy nuts. Agree with SBG, we will get there, but its going to be a longer road than some fans will have the stomach for.1 point

Id take a punt on Moyes, garbage football but effective. Can work with limited players. Moyes team with a McTomminay would work wonders. Think Cahill / Fellaini type vibes.1 point
