Our pathway into the first team is pathetic though. We should be farming Scottish talent Ajax style. If you generate 4x the revenue of the team in third but can't develop your own then wind up the academy man. This should've been the aim under Ally but the management on and off the pitch were scared stiff of wallowing in the lower leagues. Even young domestic talent too - Doig, Ferguson and Shankland should all be playing for Rangers and for a few years by now too. Those decisions post 2012 (lack of) are bearing out to this day. Rant over.2 points

5 CB’s? Souttar, Propper, Balogun…who else? Leon King no long considered a CB and the young lad we got from AC Milan not played a senior game yet. Add to that Souttar & Balogun are injury prone & I don’t think it’ll be too long before we get a CB crisis like we got 2 years ago under GvB.2 points

I'm not sure people were thinking we were too great after the Malmo defeat.2 points

Apparently.... Could it have been Travis Lewis? Come on, an easy mistake to make, surely?2 points

My cynical self just said that we'll play Matondo, he'll get an injury and will stay with us this time around, no problem.2 points

He's had one full season in senior football in fairness. I think he's actually a decent finisher when given time and space.2 points

I think we're more likely to be interested in Jaiky....2 points

Some (fairly) good news injury wise from today's press conference with Propper, Raskin and Cortes all hopefully available for next week. For tomorrow though, I'd like to see something along these lines to build on last weekend's Cup win. More mins from Danilo would be handy!2 points

Right, I've been down a rabbit hole coming up with all sorts of predicted figures depending on what sort of run we go on. Here's what we're going into the competition with atm: https://www.football-coefficient.eu/team/322-rangers-fc/ It's pretty healthy and I think we're pot 1. Imo we should aim for 5 wins to get into the play offs, that's accounting for 4 home games and 2 games against pot 4 sides. We probably want 6 to get top 8 though. It's the unknown though so go out and try and win all 8, we are Rangers! (And we love a Thursday night at Ibrox...hopefully!) Here's an explainer for the format: Now I've said before that missing out on the UCL does have the sliver lining of us being veterans of the UEL and getting into the KO stages. We are currently ahead of Celtic in the 10 year and 5 year coefficient and if we perform well in Europe this season we will more than likely pull away unless they have a blinder in the UCL. What needs to happen in the next few seasons is having at least one season, if not several, in the UCL whilst we've got priority for the share of money in Scotland. We could hit 100+ points in the 10 year ranking if we perform well enough in the near future, which would have us on a par with the likes of PSV and Salzburg. Which, imo, is what the aim should have always been the last few years. If that happens it is imperative we capitalise on it. Now this is a big old caveat which gets thrown out the window because I and everyone else want Rangers to win the league and be at the table of the best competition in football as well as the caveat that Celtic have all the honey whilst we plan accordingly with another UEL budget (which should be the case when we do qualify for the UCL btw). Lots of ifs, buts and maybes but I'm looking forward to the campaign, like the ones that have gone before it could be blessed relief from the domestic slog. Let me know what you think, I'll include a prize money calculator that I've been rinsing the last week - always look forward not back! Cheers lads. https://www.fotcalc.com/prize-money-calculator-post-24 Oh, also.. UCL= Uefa Champions League UEL= Uefa Europa league KO= Knockout And apologies to @Rousseau for the aneurysm, theres a lot of lofty hypotheticals ha.1 point

He'll be accused of being a one eyed hun but he's bang on. Can't we levy 10-15% of our ticket sales every home game for the opposition or something?1 point

This must be one of the worst periods in the history of our club with no money to buy decent players nothing coming through from the youth ranks a team full of average some below average players so where exactly do you see the club ten years on from now do you think we will ever get back to winning leagues again1 point

McCausland has to start on the left surely? It's a pretty obvious choice, much like Sterling in midfield. Well, you'd think so.1 point

It depends what you mean by 'work'. It could work very well for an organised minority in control of a fan ownership scheme.1 point

Let's not be too hasty. Football can be a funny old game. We went from losing to a truly mediocre Malmo team in the CL qualifiers to being 30 minutes away from winning the Europa League in the same season. I'm not saying that it's going to happen again but let's see how the season unfolds.1 point

Appreciate the effort here Yuddie and by all means call me short sighted but I genuinely cannot comprehend anything regarding Rangers and their next game. Then it will be the transfer window. Then the OF game. Europe seems mikles away at the moment.1 point

Of all the players linked, I like the sound of Josip Brekalo. He's just turned 26 and can play both wings as well as the 10 position. Any player that has managed to gain 35 caps for Croatia over the last 6 years must be of a decent standard IMO.1 point

Also whilst I'm at it, if this goes deeper than simply just loaning players and we end up subsidising the partner club with different things then isn't just worth it to build on the community pitch at Ibrox and build a <10k stadium for the Women's and B team? Have a proper matchday complex/experience following the Rangers. Maybe I'm on the deludamol but if we're a serious club I'd like to think we've had discussions around this. The best option is still having the B team in the league system.1 point
