Finally, a slice of good news. Clement's extension of contract shows the Board in a better light. Stability, continuity and, ongoing confidence. Remember, it took Gerrard three seasons of building to put together a league championship winning team. I believe if we give this Gaffer time, he will deliver. Patience!8 points

Moreover, if our targets don't arrive, for whatever reason, I don't think we should be scrambling about trying to find lesser targets. That's the sort of financial mismanagement that gets you into trouble.4 points

See we’ve got Walsh as ref tomorrow with Frank Connor one of the AR’s and Clancy on VAR. Expect no favours from those cheats. Like going into a boxing match knowing you need a KO to get a draw ☹️3 points

You know the new season is properly here when @compo posts 'Mon the gers'...3 points

I'm sure we've had a few lined up. Not to have any completed 24 hours ahead of a visit to Tynecastle and a £5m CL qualifier next week is bordering on the negligent.3 points

He's in reserve for RB in case Tav, Sterling, King and Devine don't make it.3 points

I like the sound of this Propper guy. Listening to a Rangers pod interview of a Twente supporter today. He genuinely seemed bummed to be losing Propper. That says a TON cause this cat is edging 31. According to him Propper is a really effective leader and communicator on the pitch. Check this, the dude is in book clubs. Real nerd this guy but in a good way. He constructively directs on the pitch...not just yellin like an asshole. "You go here, you go there, watch this guy...blah blah." 'Quarterbacking' the defense. Like a solid mike linebacker in American football. He can see the formations, get a read, direct team...BAM! If this dude keeps his joints oiled and stays available we are gonna love him. I got a good feeling.3 points

I'm not disputing that. I'm merely suggesting it wasn't the only reason.2 points

It's quite disappointing that the starting line up is going to be so familiar. However, they should have enough to beat Hearts. Hopefully pre-season form is dismissed tomorrow and we show a lot more desire and concentration. I was just saying to the wee man that on three Saturdays running, Rangers will have played at Murrayfield, East Berlin and Gorgie. Two of those are within a thirty minute walk from my house but I will have only attended the one that's about 600 miles away. Weird. Mon The Rangers!2 points

Jon Daly was Dundee Utd's when we bought him.2 points

Certainly has. Also when's the last time we bought someone's captain?2 points

I like McCausland I hope our manager and coaches can improve him I like his attitude I like the fact he likes to move forward with the ball there’s definitely a player in there and a good manager can bring it out .2 points

He and McCausland did more tracking back against Union than Cortes and Jefte did together, while Tavernier fell over before Union's "penalty".2 points

I think Cantwell will come back into the fold if he doesn't find a club.2 points

Not sure if it has been mentioned but how's about the new guy from Twente as a new captain? That was his role during his time in the Netherlands and he speaks good English. We wanted fresh ideas and the old failures to be swept aside. I also don't like the idea of a keeper as captain.2 points

Omnishambles. We were never told this was happening. Fans ignored as usual.2 points

Like I say, there's lots of potential there with him and Rice but I don't think we can rely on them to play 50-60 matches this season. We need someone to guide them both IMO.2 points

24 hours until the season kicks off and our central midfield options remain hugely limited. Diomande and Barron have lots of potential but we simply must sign someone with proven experience to lead in that area. Sterling, Raskin and Dowell not that player. Progress remains far too slow.2 points

No better way of keeping with all things Premier League than joining @Rousseau (and me) in the GN EPL FF League! Loads of data on players, good articles etc . Easy to play too. Give it a try, great fun! Plus @Rousseau keeps winning it (a bit like ra Sellick), we need a bit more competition!1 point

Beale got sacked after Rangers lost 3 out of the first 7 league games at the start of last season albeit with some questionable refereeing in the Aberdeen & Celtic games at ibrox1 point
-
Yeah, Beale was a weird appointment from the start, but his results weren't the worst and with retrospect, some of the players he signed have turned out to be decent (one in particular who turned out to be decent but not in a Rangers Jersey 😀). The main issue was Beale was "entrusted" with two or three roles and oversaw then entire recruitment. I'd suggest that was too much for one person, especially a coach. I do often wonder how Gio would have turned out if he'd been given time. Getting to EL Final was an incredible achievement which can't be played / talked down. In my opinion we were a fit Roofe / Alfie away from winning it. However, 1 SPFL title out of the last 13(?) is horrific, we can't allow that to happen again. The visious circle(s) have to end and I don't know how we end them.1 point

With Sterling still injured, Cerny saying he's probably not ready to start and a lack of clarity about Propper's eligibility means it's not exactly an unfamiliar probable line-up for Tynecastle tomorrow. That's disappointing given the end to last season and two months to make changes. I'd like to think Propper will start at least but perhaps more likely to be Balogun/Davies.1 point

Aye; only to be expected, of course. But here's the rub: Philippe Clement, has, at a stroke, become much more expensive to sack. Permashambles.1 point

I’ll second that having a goalie as captain isn’t beneficial1 point

Busy today but I'll raise this with the hosts on Monday. If there are any specific errors related to database tables, let me know as that's an easy fix.1 point

I'm having more problems. I'm either not connecting the site at all or getting 'resource limit reached'. A simple refresh solves it, but it does get annoying.1 point

I personally think Damian Garcia and Joan Jordan were the lined up midfield signings but with both falling through, we're left scrambling.1 point

#anyonebartav All joking aside, should hear from PC tomorrow and get an update on Sterling's injury, whether Cerny or Porpper (or both) will feature at Tynecastle. Butland Tav / Sterling Propper / Davies Souttar / Balogun Ridvan / Jefte Diomande Barron / Sterling Lawrence McCausland / Cerny Dessers Cortes There could be up to 4 new signings in the starting 11, but how many of us would have thought our 1st game of the new season could see no new players in the team?1 point

I might update my CV but one thing Rangers need is a strong internal audit function. I wrote a piece for Gersnet in our then regular column in the Seventy2 magazine about 10 years ago making this point. I'm sad to say that it is never more relevant. Ironically around 2 years after that, I got approached by a recruiter for the position as Head of Audit for Celtic! I politely declined, for obvious reasons, but it simply underlined just how far behind we were a decade ago in terms of good governance. As a for example, one thing I heard about the Copland Rd project is that at least one significant and local contractor, who are known club supporters, declined to tender for the work because the timescales that were required were unachievable. It seems the club/project team went and found a contractor who promised otherwise. A good internal auditor involved in monitoring the project would have challenged the decisions made by management and at the very least, shone a light on what was happening to the Board to enable the likes of Bennett to properly scrutinise what was going on, well before we got to the situation we are in now.1 point

Given the concerns about our defence, exacerbated by pre-season form, I'm keen on us bringing in an experienced CB, to add some stability. During the two first halves against Birmingham City and Union Berlin, it felt like the opposition could score at will.1 point
