F w i w, and don't shoot the messenger (nor the translator, for that matter): 'Joan Jordan's departure to the Glasgow Rangers is about to be unblocked, Assignment with option to buy €5 million.' There are suggestions that, while JJ is willing to leave Sevilla, he is significantly less than enthusiastic about heading for the frozen north, and Dingwall on a February mid-week. I have to ask: if the player is so adamantly against the move, why is Rangers wasting time and effort negotiating with his club over financial terms, and conditions? Just a thought.3 points

Does the account, or its respondents, suggest why the supporters wish him chased? Is it because he hasn't played much, and/or because the Mister doesn't want him,and/or because he is trousering a Rey's ransom for, effectively, nada? I am loathe to criticise the player until I have seen him in competitive action, for at least half an hour.2 points

No same argument, different perspective. If your gameplan is hoping your right back will be your main attacking outlet for a sustained period over a number of seasons your game plan will fail. Just like ours has.2 points

Wonder if anyone has thought at any time having a team set out so that your right back can get 20 goals and assists a season might not be the right way to do it?2 points

John Fleck has been invited to train with us as he attempts to get fit and secure a new club. All well and good as long as that new club isn't Rangers.2 points

The site has, and has had for some days, more glitches than a Rangers' transfer window. It is becoming increasingly difficult to log on, catch up with the wit and the wisdom, and post. Resource Limit reached seems to be a favourite of the vindictive algorithms, or whatever malign entities actually run the show. Have others experienced these problems (which worsen)?1 point

Let's face it, every defender we have is either an injury or bombscare issue...most are both.1 point

Well, it is not the Germans' fault that you cannot speak your Germanic language properly these days Just look at Underground, Ulster, union, united etc. Rule Britannia and 10 German bombers will most likely not have caused any bother with the locals or the police. There was a very limited number of police there yesterday. Probably only a third of a usual Bundesliga match. The guys around me liked the song sung during the second half. Thanks to @der Berliner for providing the words of "Ibroxonia".1 point

Better safe than sorry if Jordan seems he’s not really interested in coming to us1 point

And the locals let you escape with your scalp from the Alter Försterei and East German territory?1 point

Whole day of sightseeing in Berlin today and the highlight was the old US Cold War station on Teufelsberg, which is now derelict and full of graffiti (some amazing, some not so much). When I visited the WC before leaving. I noted some recent scribbling....WATP and FTP. Seems I wasn't the only Bear who visited this amazing place. I made it to Bowie's old apartment too.1 point

There is a Spanish account that posted something similar and in the replies it’s all Sevilla fans wanting to see the back of him. 🚩 Spanish Lundstram incoming.1 point

Channelling your inner Dujardin, I see. Look where that got her - unhorsed, and unable to dressage, far less to medal, or indeed to podium. Just sayin', like.1 point

Neither a chart, nor a spreadsheet, is required to explain that Tav is rubbish.1 point

Now here's a brammer: (The usual rules re: guns and messenger apply) 'FC Porto turned down two offers of around €15M from Strasbourg and Rangers for Gonçalo Borges reveals @ojogo'1 point

Tav's average is 5 non-pen goals a season? Really? Is that league only? Seems really low. Anyway, why are we "talking down" Tavs goals and assist stats? Incredible numbers for a full-back no matter how one paints them.1 point
-
No, think back to when our attacking fullbacks under Gerrard were at their best. When they went forward tav had jack to cover and Borna had Kamara. In recent seasons that cover hasn’t been there or has not worked. The examples you cite may well have similar cover from midfield or wingers. I haven’t seen enough of them to comment. Although I’m sure city and leverkusen don’t play 4 at the back? It’s about balance and I don’t think we have had it for a long time.1 point

That argument doesn't really hold up. If you think he's scoring too many goals for a FB - most of his goals are penalties. He scores 3 to 8 non-penalty goals per season (5 is the average), and that doesn't take into account free-kicks. 5 goals is not unusual for a FB in today's game. Frimpong hit 14 goals last season for Leverkusen (albeit at wingback)! TAA, Robertson, Estupinan, Gvardiol, Lewis, Alex Moreno all have higher goals per 90 than Tavernier. If you think he's assisting too much - Robertson and TAA have better assist numbers at Liverpool and that's from two FBs in the same side. There are 6 FBs that have a higher assist per 90 in the PL than Tavernier. I would assume those numbers are repeated throughout the top five leagues - are you suggesting the best teams and managers in the world are making a mistake?1 point

With all due respect, after watching yesterday's game, a striker is way down the list of priorities. RB, 2 x CB's, midfielder, then striker for me.1 point

Ah dear old Fleetwood I once seen a beautiful big motor launch in the harbour red white and blue it was and the thing was called Celtic strange name for a boat in those colours1 point

If the manager is unhappy with the support he received then can someone explain what he perhaps thought he was getting into? On the park we were an absolute shambles not seen since Murty days. We were bad under Gio but it was clear the players had chucked it for a while. With Beale it was more a case of no one knew what they were supposed to be doing. Finances for transfers? We haven’t really spent any money of note any season since we came back up, even after taking in about 30 million for Bassey and Aribo we spent around half. Then qualified for the CL and the supposed ‘pot of gold’ that comes with it only to not bring anyone else in much to Gio and the support’s frustrations. Board level? Well it’s been a litany of litigation failures, court loses, musical chairs in the board room, major shareholder fallouts. Fan group fallouts. Guys wanting to run a football club but not be seen as a public leader since King left. A rookie manager given free reign to waste an entire summer of funds on guys he signed on football manager 6 years ago with no overall strategy being defined by a then in place DOF who soon left but wasn’t replaced for quite some time. If clement was expecting something different I would ask of him and his agent, have you done your due diligence and research on this role? I always do before I take a job. It’s not quite the same thing but I’d argue just as important.1 point

We wouldn’t be talking to Seville if the player wasn’t interested.1 point

Pre season results mean nowt. Some managers purposefully won’t play the strongest team or the exact style they would play on opening day as it gives the opposition some intel to work off. Clement hasn’t played the strongest available XI in any of these games IMO you will see about 4/5 changes for next week. Ridvan, Balogun and Sterling (if fit) will start. Its just about fitness and experimenting.1 point

What, again? But where else will we get a twenty goal a season full back? Personally, I’d settle for a defender.1 point

I don’t think Rice and MacKinnon can be classed as first team players. They’ve a handful of games between them at best. All things considered that’s a very poor MF group of players at present1 point

Yeah, a left footed right winger! Was brilliant in Holland but lost his way in Germany last season. Great pedigree, an international and already scored against them at Parkhead! On paper and reputation it's a brilliant signing even if it's only for 1 season.1 point

We can't keep sacking managers every year. I wouldn't blame Clement for considering his position, as things stand. I suppose the next few weeks will have a huge bearing on how things go.1 point

He's worth 6.4b and he's only giving us 40m for transfers...tight bastard.1 point
