Christ, I used to think Bill was carnaptuous Cammy, but you're definitely stepping up to the plate in his absence!. 😬😅3 points

I will say this in regards to Shankland if the club has any intention of moving for him not to wait until he can sign for another club some fans might remember how we watched Willie Wallace for what seemed to be an eternity then when we went to play an away European tie big brawbaws across the city nipped in and got him for £28,000 a steal about a year later we wasted nearly double that amount buying Alex Smith so if there’s any interest beware of getting caught in the traps by some English outfit.3 points

We should stop: this is going to bore the ar*e off everyone!2 points

The fact we've been relying so heavily on a right back tells its own story.2 points

I think a full season from Cortes will cover the loss of Tavernier's output. Tavernier scored 5 non-penalty goals in 38 league games last season (0.13 p90) . Cortes scored 1 in 6 (0.16 p90). You'd expect him to better that, though. Tavernier's assists p90 was 0.24, while Cortes was 0.28. It's the 'extra' assists from a defender that worries me most, but most fullbacks should be able to contribute nowadays. (Yilmaz does have an xA p90 of 0.21.) And that's comparing a well-established player with a youngster just getting used to the league. I know this post won't go down well...2 points

I think we'll get two players from Tavernier's fee and wages.2 points

Oh aye, we're probably 3/4 first team signings short of being competitive for the league in the SPL *currently *, imo. UCL is what it is tbh, I don't fear any of the teams we can draw because of our recent record in Europe - and most of those teams are regulars in the Europa. Tav will have to leave eventually, it could be a blessing or a curse depending on the recruitment and the management of the team. Getting a fee for him would be brilliant business by the club. Case in point being Jordan Henderson and his move to Saudi - that should be how we approach and come out of this.2 points
-
I'd like to see us going for Max Johnston with the Tav money, no idea why he wasn't at the Euros given the dung we ended up playing in that position.2 points

Tyrese Campbell best pals with James McLean and all over social media thanking him for talking him out of signing for Rangers - best avoided.2 points

Value, according to Transfermarkt.2 points

Sterling is a completely different player to Tav so I'm not sure he'll be his long term replacement at right back.2 points

Believe Motherwell are looking for £4M for him but haven't received any offers. I know a guy who's son came through the Motherwell system with Rice and Miller. He said Rice was the better prospect when we signed him but Miller has developed since and has overtaken Rice. Maybe we should have taken both of them back then, but hindsight and all that.1 point

I'd rather see Lammers go first, at least we know Dessers can score in Scotland. Maybe not enough, but regularly enough to do a job in the squad if shit hits the fan with recruitment.1 point
-
(Correction: Dessers got 16 league goals, not 13.) Danilo's goals per 90 was 0.68 compared to Dessers' 0.63. Assist per 90 is 0.17 vs 0.14 in Danilo's favour. Danilo also has a much higher xG per 90, too - 0.93 vs 0.76. He just looks like a better all-round forward, IMO. Ridvan's xA is 3.72, which is much higher than someone like Lawrence, surprisingly. It's 0.22 per 90, which is about 8 assists in a season (Tavernier had 10). I don't disagree with his injury issue. I would rather see Yilmaz start, but wouldn't be bothered either way.1 point

Off course, and I'm not advocating removing Clement. The issues we have are not his doing.1 point

And poor 1-0 wins and a lucky OF win will see England NT levels of expectation and a statue for Philippe. I cant control that. I'll judge them on performances.1 point

So I wasn't far off with my guess then......😀1 point

We need starters rather than projects at the moment. Over the course of the window, we'll need a share of both.1 point

I'd like to see McCausland hit double figures in goals and assists.1 point

I'd be stunned if we tried to replicate what Tav has done at RB with another signing in that position. Use his fee on the wings and upfront surely? Not having a go like but I've seen so many people say 'how are we going to replace his output'. A: We won't. Not at RB at least. You'll halve his goals output by putting someone else on set pieces for a start. Plenty of options for us, one of them being keeping Sterling in his preferred position (!) and letting Jefte be the one to bomb on.1 point

It'll be Man Utd's kids too. They will probably still horse us too so nah not for me1 point

You're looking too much into it. I merely wanted a way of visualising the age profile of our targets compared to minutes played.1 point

Usually everyone is keen to see new faces when pre-season starts but due to the the lack of transfer activity this time, even that aspect is severely dulled. I'll watch the game tomorrow but suspect I'll probably spend 50% of the time fannying about on my phone and sticking albums on. And I have a real hatred for Man Utd - horrible club.1 point

The Fast and Furious guy? Nice! Bring us your sick your lame your injured. We will sign them to a five year deal at twice their current wage.1 point

So team for Tynecastle and CL Qualifiers as it stands ; Butland Sterling Balogun / Goldson Soutar / Davies Yilmaz / Jefte Dio Barron Cantwell / Lawrence McCausland Dessers / Danilo Cortes Are you worried yet?1 point

Rumour is he's out for 4 months. Maybe that's why he's not going to be a starter 🤷♂️1 point

I'm conflicted by the Traore rumours. £3-4m for a 29-year-old is on the high side, for me. He hasn't actually played a lot of minutes in his career, either. He has played about 4,000 minutes more than Diomande (44 matches?), yet is 7 years older. I do think that's mainly due to a poor spell in France, where he played very little over three years. But then again, he does have a track record of winning titles. He won three league titles with TP Mazembe - one of the best sides in Africa - along with a CAF Champions League. And he won titles at Sheriff and Ferencvaros, and gained some UEFA Champions League experience. His last few seasons have been good: 89 G+A in 134 appearances. If only he was a few years younger...1 point

He's in the last year of his contract so the £300k was the 'cross border' compensation if we sign him at the end of his contract1 point

Difficult to be sure about what the plan would be if Tav moves on. Clement might think Sterling and Devine can cover RB but I'd have thought he'd want to bring in a more experienced replacement.1 point
-
Didn't manage to hold down the RB slot whilst at loan at Motherwell, so would suggest he isn't ready to be our starting RB. I'd like to see him go out on loan again.1 point

Dunno, his injury history over on TM is having essentially "no history" of injuries. He missed 9 games in season 22/23 due to a groin issue. The time with us is more like "not being used" rather than injury. That aside, Adam Devine wasn't showing up too bad, and Balogun can step in for as long as he isn't injured either. Given that we could just as well go to three at the back and hand a place to a right-sided midfielder instead, at least during most of the Scottish games, right-back is no real priority IMHO.1 point
-
Have only seen him play once but I liked his attitude and I reckon he will do well in the game. Now would be the time to make an attempt to sign him because he'll soon be out of our financial orbit, if he improves.1 point
-
At least things appear to be happening now. Hopefully there'll be at least a couple of ins and outs before we hit Brum.1 point

The Scotsman running a story saying that we've got a windfall from Glen Kamara's move to Rennes coming and that we could use it to move for Tommy Conway after we had made a breakthrough in our pursuit.1 point

I'd rather sit and wait for Shankland and get him next summer for free. No brainer. Hearts would want 2.5 million at least for him.1 point

Yes, you're right SBG. FFP obviously has an effect now too, and tbh it can work to your advantage too, Loan to buy for example, rather than shelling out big money only for a player not to work out.1 point
