Our whole season summed up in one match!.6 points

I find the criticism of Clement's team selection baffling. I mean, have you not seen our injury list?4 points

My thoughts exactly, hopefully Clement can get rid of the wishy washy players who turn up when they want and bring some serious characters into the dressing room. Imo we need a huge clear out of the old guard and dead wood we need fresh blood hungry for success.3 points

We're coming to the end of the season and as night follows day, the youngsters are being brought in for some game time in dead rubbers. Yet this season we've seen an academy graduate contribute, start in a cup final and looking like he might get another. Ross McCausland has had his critics this season, rightly or wrongly, but could this be the start of a new era under Clement for Rangers and our academy? I was reminded of the John Henry quote in Moneyball I know you've taken it in the teeth out there, but the first guy through the wall. It always gets bloody, always. Ross could be the first of a wave of academy graduates under this manager and board, if his comments in press conferences are to be believed. If he is then it will get easier for each passing graduate as the fans get more accustomed and more patient with the development process required. He could almost be the patron Saint of the B team - not quite fed to the lions, but as quoted above, he took it in the teeth. What are your thoughts? Just some general musings. I'll include some stats of his this season to try and give some analytical context to his first season in senior football: 1858 mins this season (20.6 90's) 8 G/A 0.38 G/A per 90 2.31 chances created per 90 Some league percentiles: 92nd for Assists p90 (0.25) 93rd for expected Assists p90 (0.29) 96th for Key Passes p90 (2.31) 93rd for Dribbles p90 (3.38) 90th for Dribble Success (1.50) I make no apologies for having the lads back and firmly believe he could develop into a player we can rely on in rotation - we don't need him to be a future Balon D'or Winner. What do you think, is he taking flak for potentially being the start of a movement within the club? Hopefully the numbers are right, I've tried my best haha. Cheers.2 points

We have had injuries, but his selections have still been baffling. Anyway, just stopped in Girvan for a Blaggis Supper and town is swimming with unwashed on their way to ferry - put me off my chippy2 points

The time for judging Clement will be after the summer. If he goes into next year relying on the same losers then he'll deserve everything he gets. He has more than enough quality history to suggest he isn't the problem here and is due some time. I'm not particularly enamoured with his winter signings but it's a tough window.2 points

I genuinely wonder if PC regrets not bringing in a CB in January. We’ve conceded 9 goals since the split. Let that sink in2 points

We really need a Rangers AI to write our matchday posts. All the possession/missed chances/poor refereeing/awful defending/can't make simple passes/abysmal in final third/easily outmuscled etc etc etc. Would save us all a lot of time. At least the sun is shining...2 points

Their striker clinical = ours cant hit a barn door. Rinse and repeat2 points

If you want a reason for why slaughtering McCausland for his goal contributions is moronic, that's it. Dessers is almost offside when Ross plays that pass as well. There's sweet fa the boy can do if he's setting up 3 or 4 chances a game and the forwards are spooning those chances over the bar.2 points

Mad how Raskin hasn't been given a chance. The difference in legwork and dynamism between him and Lundstram is pretty stark. He's started well.2 points
-
This annoys me. Too many fans demand our youngsters to be top, first-team stars straight away or they want them punted. As long as they can contribute to the team, then they're useful. If he can work on his weaknesses and improve his numbers to 10-20 G+A next season then that's fantastic. He's only just turned 21.2 points

I didn't know that. Thanks for the heads up.👍1 point

MaCausland can be reasonably pleased with his first season. He’s had his ups and downs but it’s good to see a young player breaking through into the first team. Sadly he’s the exception rather than the norm unfortunately1 point

What are we supposed to judge at the end of the summer, our dealings in the transfer market? It'll take a a good run before we know what quality he's brought in. The first quarter of the season, after we've played all teams once, may be a better gauge as to whether we're going to be up for a title fight or not but I would be hesitant to judge Clement too quickly (and it depends on how much he can change in one window). It would do more harm than good if, like Beale, he was sacked in October due to a bad start. I would be prepared to give next season and the one after just so we don't find ourselves in the same position season after season - I'm note sure the majority of our fan base wouldn't be so patient though. I think we just have to stick with what we have for the foreseeable and hope he eventually gets it right as we don't have the money to replace almost everyone.1 point

I don't disagree. Except for Yilmaz: we should build the team around him.1 point
-
Possibly, but they still should have been involved in the training; that's negligence.1 point
-
If the tie ends in a draw at the end of the two legs, then promotion should be given to the team that has finished higher in the league. That would eliminate the need for a stupid penalty competition.1 point

Yes, they have some sort of Youtube Channel with the audio stream.1 point

What if ‘his players’ don’t perform & we end up in the same situation we were in with Beale? We sack the manager & bring in someone else and the process starts all over again? And I feel like banging my head off a brick wall because we find ourselves in the same situation as last season with a lack of fit CB’s. This needs addressed. We are conceding too many goals.1 point

Coming round to that way of thinking tbh. His selections are strange and so is the setup of the team. It is worth saying though, a long injury list to first teamers can crucify a team. Case in point being liverpool in 20/21 when they lost VVD and all of their CB's for a large portion of the season. It was only until Klopp actually played the youngsters in defence in their natural positions instead of shoehorning players in that they righted themselves and went on a run, then subsequently took a quadruple to the final day of the season in 21/22. Clement should've smelt the coffee in that regard, dropping McCausland and shoehorning Sterling into RW or even at LB when he could've put his faith in Fraser was indicative of a manager desperately trying to find solutions when there's plausibility staring him in the face. Plugging away with Lundstram when freezing out Raskin until it's shit or bust at Parkhead another example. I'll back the man but this Cup final could be seminal for him, especially with the first OF being at Parkhead. Sigh.1 point

I’m sure I counted Tav not clearing the box on 4 separate occasions in the space on 2 mins, on the other hand it was quite good to change the game up today with Cantwell and others taking the corners and not our usual predictable play. Let’s hope we have a massive clear out indeed CB top top Priority 🤜🏼♥️🤍💙1 point

That's the easy answer, and if it makes you feel better about our capitulation in the closing stages of the season, good on you. Current manager shoulders some responsibility. Baffling team selections, no real playing style, no width in the team, players unable to perform their basic tasks. We look unfit and poorly coached. Clement deserves time to get his players in, but he isn't blameless for where we currently are.1 point

I'm not a keeper and maybe I'm being harsh but I think Butland sells himself for their goal. There's a chance King recovers enough to force him wide and then Butland can guard his near post imo. Cracking finish mind.1 point

Excessive effort spend on creating chances and scoring goals, part 2,984. They have a couple of chances and score. Sick and tired of this one-striker trash that yields so little end product, no matter who's wearing the 9.1 point

A very worrying line-up. we must never find ourselves in this predicament again1 point

Like lots of young players they get a few games then dispatched to to sidelines to make way for the tried and tested duds that managers seem to favour at Ibrox1 point

Two years ago Rangers sent their apprentice boys to beat Hearts 3-1 at Tynecastle, Lowry scoring and running the show. Whatever became of that likely lad?1 point

As another season of disappointment draws to close, I really took some encouragement from that Presser from young Ross McCausland. A real mature head on young shoulders. Confident, articulate and comfortable in front of the press, I thought he was a real "ambassador" for our academy and what can be achieved. Remarkable that in such a short space of time, he made 28 appearances now, and already has a winners medal. Lets hope one or two others can follow his lead next season. Well done, young Ross!1 point

"You're not Rangers anymore" closely followed by "same old Rangers always cheating". They should have been put under when Romanov was in charge1 point

I like McCausland. Gets the ball and goes for the opposition goal mouth. Somehow he reminds me of Willie Henderson. Nowhere near his pace or trickery or crossing or finishing skills. It must be the determination to get forward and never mind anything else.1 point

McCausland has been fine this season and think we missed him after he got injured against Motherwell. He sometimes takes the wrong option, but that can be said about many players and hopefully that will improve with experience. I hope we buy decent wide players in the summer (if we can't get Cortes and Sima back) but McCausland is a great option to have in reserve.1 point

I see a few mentioning lists that need to be away this summer and I cant argue with most of it, but those wanting Tav away (I think it is the right time myself too) are going to be disappointed. This is the end of Tav's 9th season with us, meaning next season is his 10th and I know there is already a testimonial committee set up and working on a series of events for next year. Given how lucrative this is, plus he and his family are settled here, there is absolutely no chance he is going to be away this year. The 9 who are out of contract all have to leave, plus we just have to sell 3-4 players for good money to pay for the rebuild. We may also have to allow a couple to leave for free (Goldson) as their wages are out of sync with their contributions. I found it interesting in PC's presser yesterday that he was certain there would be huge changes in the medical department and that may of course include sports science as he is clearly very unhappy at the information and/or quality of work he is getting from them. He believes the injuries cost us the title and he is obviously unhappy at the support staff in this area.1 point

Agree with every bit of that. If pushed to find a difference, give Hagi another go and sell Cantwell.1 point

I'd take Barron, then loan him back to Aberdeen for two years. The others... Nah.1 point
