I don't think it's all doom and gloom. We're making progress behind the scenes. The commercial side is improving. I much prefer our footballing structure to theirs. They're in a false position after 10 years of easy CL money, not because they're well-run per se; they've had it easy. We've got our recruitment wrong in the last few windows and haven't sold when values were high - mainly because we didn't have a DoF with more control and left it to a manager. The Beale appointment was a mistake, too. We should have won the league this year, despite poor recruitment, letting them have a head start after Beale's poor start, and a squad decimated by injuries. We've got a good opportunity this summer with a lot of high-wage players out of contract.4 points

We should almost certainly be taking a punt on young SPL players with a deal to keep them at their club for game time. We need much more of a long term view, one problem since coming back up is that we have had such a short term view to try and stop ten in a row. None of the strikers we signed last summer are good enough in my view. Crazy how much we spent on players to end up in a same or worse position than we were in before. It's been the major problem of our season. Dessers has a decent goal tally when looking at the figures, but watching him and knowing how many chances he has spurned paints a different picture. Not good enough to rely on as our main striker, but potentially useful as a squad player. Clements signings have been a mixed bag too, I am not convinced by Diomande however he still has time to develop into a useful player, 4.5 million of a player though? I'm not sure. Cortes looked quality in the brief time we saw him, but many players initially shine and then settle into mediocrity. He could still go either way but he is the most exciting signing of recent times for me. Silva is dump, I cannot believe his price tag. Jesus. For me, it's time to say goodbye to Tav, Goldson and Lundstrum, and whoever else I may be missing that have been at the club too long. Great players in terms of their skills, but a broken mentality. Souttar isn't good enough in my view, he has a major mistake in him every game. Yilmaz is injured too often to rely on. I'd keep Sima but he isn't ours. I mean, we are really in a shockingly poor state. Clement is going to have to perform miracles in the transfer market to turn this around.4 points

Of all the players Beale signed last summer only 3 started today: Butland, Sterling & Dessers. Lammers & Cifuentes never worked out. Both won’t be back from loans Danillo is injured & failed to impress so far. Sima has done well but is a loan signing & unlikely to be back next season unless as another loan signing in the final year of his Brighton contract before we’d get him as a permanent signing Balogen is 36 & injured and unlikely to be back next season Clement signed 3 players in January: diomande who looks an average MF player whom we need to pay £4.5m for. Cortes signs on loan & played 6 games before getting injured. Silva on loan from Wolves but no chance signing Conclusion: recruitment must improve4 points

Not Saudi (unless its Stevie Gerrard 😀 or from a source that can be verified - like exiled Rangers fans), but don't think anyone can deny that we are in urgent requirement for external investment.3 points

It could be argued that consecutive Rangers boards, going back as far as SDM'S moonbeams and then being "duped" have been negligent and haven't pushed us forward on or off the pitch Meanwhile on the other side of the city they continue to outperform us domestically and financially. They have also set the political and media narrative whilst we continue with our stiff upper lip, dignified silence. Some fans appear to be happy with the above and for the life of me, can't see why. Have been saying this from 55 season, the board really need to step up to the plate. I don't mean personally finance the club, but find investors who help drive us forward. At the moment their policy appears to be hoping we win the league with as little net investment as possible, which as we've seen again isn't realistic. If nothing changes, we'll be in their shadow for the next two decades, as well as having been in their shadows for most of the last 15 or so years. That's the painful truth kf the situation.3 points

All good points and we can discuss until the cows come home, however there can be no doubt that we have to do certain things better and certain things differently or we'll at best stand still, or worse, regress further.2 points

I’m hearing Police Scotland launching a probe into missiles thrown at Tav yesterday. ( after Tav handed the missiles to Collum is it normal protocol for the referee to throw them behind the goal ?)2 points

I would love that but I'm not sure how appropriate it is? I don't think businesses should disclose their plans for all their competitors to see. I'd like some KPIs for fans to measure and track, though.2 points

Their football structure is far superior to ours and its false to state that their financial security is simply down to having free access to CL money. Their player trading model is vastly superior to ours. Sure they make some mistakes, but usually they are moved in quickly. They also have a knack of selling players on at the right times and making profits on them. Most of the mistakes you mention above are high profile boardroom mistakes. These need to be reduced dramatically and a published (high level) short, medium and long term business plan wouldn't go amiss.2 points

It would be nice to see Rangers developing home grown players. Every now and then you will hear people saying we should sign X Dundee or Aberdeen player. Why isn't decent talent being spotted before the need to poach other team's stars?2 points

Reluctantly I agree that we now need a total clearout. No more loan signings please. We need players who will be committed to the Rangers cause. And more Scottish players which we need for our European quota. Armstrong, Barron, Miller, Watson from other SPL clubs for starters instead of unknown foreign numpties pushed on us by their agents. Even English League One - look at O'Riley for example for the Keltic.2 points

I'm sure that there are a few other Butlands out there. This is the issue we have, we hold on to him for another year or two and due to his age, his value decreases and fans will sat "he should have been sold earlier". If there is a substantial offer on the table for JB (or any of our players) then we simply have to accept it.2 points

Your the only other person I’ve seen say that, I’ve said myself plenty from what I have seen of him he looks a waste of 6 million. Not sure why so many see him as some kind of striker panacea.2 points

Rodgers could've predicted how we'd play weeks in advance. We're a very predictable side.2 points

Yes, but what performance improvements are required to win the league? Better recruitment, Better player trading model, Better backroom staff, Better fitness levels, Better medical staff to reduce injuries and reduce time taken to be fit, Better backroom staff and specialised coaches, Better financial management, Better short, medium and long term planning That's just a start, but yeah, in short just win the league 😤1 point

In reply to the new poster via a question "Who sacks the board do they do it to themselves or is it by some other factor"?. Anyhow welcome to the forum.1 point

Autumn of last year, I read an article in a Sunday broadsheet highlighting the Foundation of Hearts were handing over another cheque to the club. The presentation brought the total handed over to £4 million in a period of eight years. Rangers supporters have precedence for similar action, the Rangers Supporters Association purchased the old Albion Training Ground area on behalf of the club. Monies raised a decade past to fund then upcoming legal actions were thankfully not needed and, the several hundred thousand pounds left over were handed to the club to pay the cost of constructing a stand at Auchenhowie. The club are embarking on necessary refurbishment at the Stadium to at last comfortably and safely accommodate fellow supporters with mobility issues. It is a two year project which will raise the capacity by a 1,000 seats. The cost will come from monies raised by normal means, ie season ticket sales, sponsorship, hospitality, merchandise sales, ................. etc. This will detract from the various budgets dedicated to improving the club's playing and coaching staff. If the Foundation of Hearts can raise such funds, I believe a proper organised similar scheme with similar aims officially connected to Rangers could dwarf the Jambo contributions. Do we have a coterie of Bean Counters prepared to utilise their abaci?1 point

Problem is, what youngsters? Lowry got 30mins during the week there so he's nowhere near fit. Lovelace has fallen off the radar and rumours are he wants a return to England. King has had sufficient chances to impress and doesn't loom good enough. Leaves Rice and McKinnon, so they may get some game time1 point

Butland - sell if anything over £12M Tav - sell to Saudi if rumours are true otherwise let us contract expire. Barasic - leaving Yilmaz - move on as injury prone so can't be relied on. Souttar - keep Goldson - see Tav Davies - see Yilmaz Balogun - release Lundstram - release Jack - release Raskin - keep but last chance saloon Diomande - still to be convinced he is worth £4.5M. Sterling - keep Lawrence - stuck with him Cantwell - see Raskin Dowell - see Lawrence Wright - release McCausland- keep Sima - try to get him on loan again Cortes - as per Sima Roofe - release Silva - release Matando - see Cantwell and Raskin Dessers - keep Danilo - keep Lammers - hopefully sell Hagi - see Lammers Sure I've missed a few but shows the work the Clement and his team have in front of them1 point

If Gerrard was such a good manager how come he never managed to win a domestic cup? He also made a pigs ear of it v Malmo in what would have been a massive boost getting to the CL for the club. I think there is a lot of revisionism around him. He had a good record against Celtic yes, but only really managed to beat them over the course of the season once. I think Gerrard is part of the reason why we are where we are, we should have sold off some of his team when we got bids in and not hold on to players for far too long.1 point

A midfield of raskin ,sterling and dio and we will beat them .1 point

I agree with except that Clement deserves another go. Stats may be interesting but the fact is, for a time in midwinter the team were playing in the league better football than in previous seasons. Then as the High Statmaster himself said above Sima the Scorer got injured.1 point

Still can’t quite get over that performance by Lundstram, lost his man for the opener, an og and a red within 30 odd mins. Not sure sh*t the bed quite covers it.1 point

Clement - but it doesn't show he is performing miracles. His overall PPG is slightly above MBs. Was MB performing miracles last season? The manager deserves time, but like MB and Gio there are worrying trends developing. His reluctance to change his style (tactics), his reluctance to select a consistent starting 11. Lose the SCF and fall behind early next season and the writing will be on the wall.1 point

It's wing-play without any wingers... Cortes and Sima were big losses.1 point

I don't think Barasic done much wrong to be fair, he also had an assist with our goal. However, glad to be seeing the back of him at the end of the season.Lundstram was stupid and he had struggled in the game . However, that's two consecutive games where the manager has chosen a very debatable starting 11 and in both games we've found ourselves 2 goals behind. His recent team selections and "style" of play have left some fans wondering at what PCs philosophy is. No questioning he has been hindered by injuries, but we have suffered a huge slump over the last couple of months.1 point

Relieved that a thrashing was avoided. That shows how bad this team is. For the greater part of my following life I was furious, not relieved, when the team dropped points at parkhead or anywhere else. I don’t demand that the Board bring in Laudrups and Gascoignes, just some players who will be efficient and who will fight the jersey. I think Clement could do something with players like that.1 point

A large amount is bottle in my opinion. We have some of the best players in the league, but time after time they completely shit themselves during this fixture. Really need to somehow clear out the squad.1 point

As almost as inevitable as them scoring first, then us gifting them a 2nd, we start playing and get a goal back. Can't expect to win many games, especially OF games giving them 2 goals of a start.1 point
