We need to go back to the good old days. A league should be each team playing every team the same number of times home and away. A cup should be straight knock out played over one or two legs.3 points

Initially sceptical, I’m coming round to the idea. While the full 36 team league standings format is a bit mental, the exciting bit is getting to play 8 different opponents once, not just 3 opponents twice. Clearly the luck of the draw is important as you could end up playing Real Madrid & Bayern Munich while a similar ranked team plays Porto & PSV and all points gained are in one table but to qualify for knockout stages you have to finish ahead of only 8 teams. I would imagine we would be seeded in pot 3 so we play 2 pot 3 teams and 2 pot 4 teams, so half our games are against similar standard teams, and if you pick up enough points from those games that should be enough to get a juicy KO game for plenty of Euros in February.3 points

Somebody did a computerised fifteen round fight between Marciano and Ali. A bloodied, outboxed Marciano won by a knockout in the thirteenth.2 points

I think they're priming it to help out the big leagues more and to push smaller nations further into the sidelines. Same old shite. One keeps hoping the bubble will burst but there's no indication it'll happen anytime soon. I don't think the CL will be much of a consideration for the Scottish champions in the near future.2 points

Going back to the old European cup would be ideal (gets rid of x teams from y country being entered ) but unfortunately TV money rules 🤔1 point

League formats suit UEFA, the clubs and the TV companies, so there's absolutely no chance of a return to old formats anytime soon.1 point

Maybe they should consider bringing back the cup winners cup as a simple home and away competition.1 point

Any VL's on the forum give us an exec summary? TLDR1 point

I am sure the manager and players dont see it that way. They dont come to Rangers to play in our shitty league. They come to do well in Europe and get noticed for their performances on that stage. Clement will pick his strongest side, and they will give absolutely everything to get a result. Whether we get a result or not remains to be seen, but this squad genuinely think they can beat anyone, and have no fear.1 point

Thankfully you posted that mate. Here's what I was told after the Killie game by certain poster 😀 "Bobby Madden is now the bearer of truth? Give me strength."1 point

I think our squad is spread thin enough as is with domestic duty. Just do what we can and avoid injuries please.1 point

He made a mistake playing Raskin yesterday , needs to play Sterling with Lundstam as the midfield two and pick the rest from that . Stating the obvious.1 point

Raskin's gettin pulled at half because he sucks. Ain't no need to church it up. Phil's workin with what he has though. I honestly think not goin for a proper striker in the Jan window is gonna bite us. Dessers ain't the answer and Silva doesn't appear to be either. Them CB's need to get their head out of their asses too. Ain't no excuse for them on Saturn's Day. They shit the bed, pure and simple.1 point

I'd put it down more as rotation than tinkering. He's trying to get Raskin back up to speed but he's having no real impact on the matches. Lawrence seems injury prone, so I doubt Clement wants to start him in every match. It's all a bit of a balancing act. Cantwell, Cortes, Danilo and Sima being out really limits our forward options.1 point

I have a good mate who is a diehard Hibbee and when we meet and the topic of football inevitably crops up, he waxes lyrically about Smith (and rightly so). Mates sadly departed Dad would sit for hours telling him about Smith and the great Hibs (and others) teams of the past. Stories handed down from generation to generation, it's part of what makes football so special, no matter what team you support. Also helps you appreciate players from other eras / teams.1 point
