  1. Seems to me the SPFL is a perfect reflection of wider Scottish society where elected representatives at all levels and almost all significant national institutions are fundamentally corrupt, self-serving and utterly useless. In that respect, Mr Doncaster is a natural choice for the role.

  2. All very well but, I will wait for both Compo and Scott7's personal recollections of the match.

  3. This idea comes from the prawn-sandwich munchers who have no real conception of the game. I once met a middle class 'fan'. I asked which team he supported. "Oh, I support all teams really," he quoth. No idea of partisanship.

  4. To my mind, if it was just us against the whole of Scottish football like it has been in recent times, then yes it would be easily shunted to the sidelines. This time though, its at least half of the top league clubs and there is yet more allegations of improper conduct and manipulation of facts. I get your sense of futulity but eventually the tide does turn, I'm just sensing something different this time.

  5. I don't get the interest, in all honesty. You'd have to be a total moon-unit to think this lot have any integrity. Even if they get rid of Doncaster, he'll just be replaced by someone similar.

  6. They're only good until he stops winning.

  7. We often expect a barrow load of goals in games like these against lower league opponents & seldom get it. Ayr are top half of the championship and are probably as good as any team in the bottom half of the premiership. Expecting a win but maybe not by as a big a margin as most of us hoping for

  8. It's not what the fans want to hear but his attitude towards reffing decisions and his response to the question about Collum doing this game is classy imo. It's what our manager should be saying, rather than trying to stoke the fire. We like to preach that Celtic are always cheated and never defeated but we've been cry arsing a fair bit recently, Clement doesn't take after that and I'm glad for it.

  9. Best news of the day Big Leon back next weekend ,was fearing he could have been out longer.

  10. Clement's press conferences are good to watch. I don't know if other managers, particularly in Scotland, are as articulate. He almost borders on the philosophical at times. Quite a change from our other recent managers. I particularly liked his dealing with the Willie Collum question and his "I will be consulted in future"

  11. After a hard fought win in midweek, a good chance for the manager to rotate his squad for the visit of Ayr Utd tomorrow. I'm expecting a side along the following lines with Diomande perhaps used up a line with Barisic providing the actual width. I'd expect Davies, Cantwell, Matondo and Dessers to be available from the bench. Good to have various options!

  12. Yes. If you're talking about ice hockey.

  13. Who signed off on Doncaster's 2 year notice period, and how that came about. Even top level CEO's don't get that. What was the process for that and what was the requirement? Why should any position on the SPFL be eligible for a renumeration package similar to the prize money for winning the Scottish cup, can the role holder demonstrate and give examples of the value add that make this worth while? Can the SPFL board give the member clubs guarantees for no conflict of interest for individuals employed currently and previously in the private sector by owners of member clubs? (I believe Murdoch McLennan is still in employment for one of Dermot's media companies..).

  14. One aspect alleged is that the SPFL exec amended the version of the report that has been selectively distributed to clubs. If that is true, the authors Henderson Loggie will be absolutely fuming. This story has more legs.

  15. The rumours doing the rounds at the time re Lawells BBQ was some connection to a boxing promoter? Barry Hughes maybe?

  16. I suspect you are correct. It must be over a couple of years past that I was told of an alleged rumour involving former Chair of the Football Association of Ireland, John Delaney. He was also a Board member of UEFA's Executive Committee. I am sure you remember the outrageous circumstances of his resignation from both posts? Anyways, apparently the unravelling of Delaney's life provided opportunity for Lawwell, he had always fancied a post on UEFA's Executive Committee. The shoo in became acrimonious as Delaney believed he had been back stabbed. Remember the FAI was on the brink of bankruptcy when Delaney(the Chair) provided a one million Euros emergency loan from his property portfolio account. His resignation was demanded and subsequently he lost his treasured place on UEFA's Executive Committee. He divorced the wife, married his long term mistress and, moved his new wife and child to London. He had been in the UK a matter of months when the well connected Delaney swore revenge. I was asked to connect the dots. I believe Peter serves on two UEFA Committees, Vice-Chair of one.

  17. Whatever became of Police Scotland's investigation into the fire bombing of Peter's house in Thorntonhall? I remember Police Scotland's first response was they were refusing to rule out a sectarian motive for the attack. Maybe the investigation led down a road closer to home? We should be told.

  18. Presumably some techie flounced off in the creamiest off cream puffs, taking the only dongle in the building with him. Well, a meringue?
