  1. Well, I am enjoying a large bowl of Rice Krispies, and Coco Pops, topped off with Special K, and a sprinkle of Bran Flakes, for health. It may seem a lot, and it is expensive, but surely such extravagance is worthwhile if helps us become cereal winners.

  2. People saying £20 million for Butland yep I agree and I've always said we sell to cheap just reading that Villa have offered £15 million for someone called Morgan Rodgers be honest have you ever heard of him, stuff it £30 million for Butland.

  3. Given our current injury situation and his recent improvement, Dessers is almost as "unsellable" as Butland. Who'd have thought that a few months ago.

  4. Dessers has us over a barrel. Not his fault of course about injuries, but I am not buying for a micro second that he has turned any corner. Nor that anyone in their right mind would lay down serious caish for his services. Hopefully his drunken boxing luck continues and we get to the summer with some success, and his ultimate departure.

  8. The point of the player trading model is to sell for profit and then bring in a player who can replace the one outgoing in terms of quality or better him to then flip for a greater sum. Honestly, we'll only downgrade if we sell Butland this and any window. 81.1% Save percentage in the league (fbref) over 22 games is ridiculous - and it's not like he's pulling off wonder saves and playing out of his skin (McGregor 55) everything is calm and commanding. He's also the most 2 footed keeper I've seen play in Scotland which people don't appreciate. We could geniunely build a dominant Rangers side on his (and Clements) shoulders, he's the one player I'd say is just not worth selling. Sort out a good striker whilst you've got a good keeper and you're laughing, selling your good keeper while you still haven't got a good striker is moronic.

  9. Possibly. It’s also possible we bring him in to give him an easy 6 months of settling in, ready to compete for a place next season when Barisic moves on. Rather than taking him in with weeks to go until qualifiers.

  10. Dessers is the only player who is currently fit that looks like scoring on a consistent basis. Matondo is hot and cold, McCausland is better assisting than scoring, Silva is unknown at the moment, Wright is like Matondo, Cantwell hasn't been the same player and Lawrence is never fit. Say what you want about Dessers (and we all have) but the big fella has never hid and has always been available evem when being booed and laughed at. His goals v Betis and 2 v Hibs demonstrated a striker who can score goals. If we can give a LB from Turkey over 18months to "settle in" why did "we" write Dessers off after 3-4 weeks? Selling Butland and or Dessers this window would seriously damage any chance we have lf winning the league. We have to supplement these players with some quality and sure PC and his team are working to achieve that

  11. More to the point, their auditors would likely raise a comment and/or qualify their accounts if appropriate provisions had not been made in relation to such a significant liability. I haven't looked at the disclosures in their accounts to see what they are saying, but its obvious why they are preserving cash. Its also obvious why none of the blogosphere are commenting on this.

  13. Not sure if there's much in the Dessers links back to Italian football but whilst the manager might be tempted at the right price, it would leave us well short in terms of our Euro squad. The league is our priority but long term injuries means we can't afford to move on too many. General thinking seems to be we can make three changes to Euro squad. Balogun > Davies, Diomande > Cifu and Silva > Lammers could be the sum of those; still leaving us without Ridvan (if he stays), Cortes (if he signs) and any possible Dessers replacement left out of squad. It may well be the manager thinks he can get back Davies and Sima for at least the 2nd leg of our last 16 tie in March but likes of Ridvan, Jefte, Cortes and any new striker(s) could miss out on the EL squad. Again, league remains priority but next 36 hours will see our ambitions clarified.

  14. I don't have gift of second sight, just don't write players off after 2 or 3 games. Dessers was never as bad as some fans made him out to be and he's proving that now and making a few peoples rash judgement of him look rather silly.

  16. Yes and still think he'd have been more useful than Lammers. The crux of the whole matter is: Mick Beale was a useless twat.

  18. Sometimes you sit back and wonder what we've done wrong to suffer such a horrendous streak of injuries to important players. Helander, Roofe, Lawrence, Dowell, Raskin, Danilo, and Sima. So much talent and money benched for long and important spells. It's time we get a break here ...

  21. So their disclosure on provisions says... and... Neatly worded. Their balance sheet date is 30th June, and it was well after that when news came out in relation to the potential negotiations on a settlement. A cynic might conclude the timing of such an announcement to be deliberate so as to avoid disclosure. You could also read into the reference to insurance, though I'm not sure how that would work or even who would insure them for such a liability.

  22. Serious point. During August'23, Celtic relented their 'Separate Entity' stance and proclaimed they were looking to settle out of court with the victims of child sex abuse whilst members of Celtic Boys Club. Negotiations between the abused representatives(Solicitors) and the club's reps(Solicitors) have been on going since September. I believe a six month limitation was set on the negotiations? Thus, an offer of compensation must be made by the end of March'24 or, the case goes to court. There is an American aspect to this and we know their culture is most litigious. I suspect either Craig or Bluedell could provide better insight? Monies will have to be set aside.
