  1. So we'll have Jefte on the leftie and Wrighty on the righty

  2. OK. But let's not get carried away, here. We have signed Mohammed Diamonde, who has a medical history embracing Malaria. Now we are intent on securing the services of Jefte, a Brazilian, whose parent Club is Fluminense FC, known colloquially, if affectionately, as the 'Flu'. Not only that, the Flu is based in that area of Rio de J. known as -whisper it, if you can manage- Laranjeiras..... Worrying, no? On the upside, at least we are not signing players prone to joint and soft tissue injuries, or who are made of balsa wood.

  3. My favourite player of the 21st century. Did all his talking on the pitch, a really effective midfielder and someone who comes across as a decent sort too. His retirement is an end of an era in some ways. He was the last player still at the club who was signed by Walter Smith, also the last player who played before our 2012 crash. One of a small group of Rangers players to have played in 2 European finals. Everyone knew this was almost certainly going to be the outcome, an ACL injury at any age is a big injury for a player, but at his vintage a comeback seemed unlikely. His last act at the club was to introduce young Northern Irishman Ross McCausland to the first team while caretaker for a couple of matches before Clement took over. McCausland hasn't lost his place since. There's something fitting about that.

  4. 1. Ibrox Rangers Capacity 50,817 Opened 1899 If you’re looking for the best atmosphere in British football, Glasgow is the place. For its sheer vibrancy, passion and intensity, on and off the pitch, nothing on these shores compares to the matchday experience at an Old Firm fixture. Few games in the world can equal it – arguably only Boca Juniors versus River Plate. Big European nights at Ibrox and Celtic Park are pretty special too, as various legends like Lionel Messi and Gigi Buffon have attested over the years. There’s very little to choose between the two grounds, and FFT does its best to maintain neutrality on all Rangers vs Celtic matters, but by the sheer nature of a list like this, there has to be a number one (inevitably dooming us to a deluge of angry letters). Ibrox just about takes top spot, even though its capacity is smaller by around 10,000. Fans are close to the pitch on all sides of the ground, with good views from pretty much anywhere. Three sides of the stadium are aesthetically smart, modern two-tiered affairs, while the main stand provides the nod to history – and not only because it’s named after legendary manager Bill Struth. Designed by legendary architect Archibald Leitch, the three-tiered stand is a Category B listed building with an impressive red brick facade that backs straight on to the main road, and a plush interior which includes a famous marble staircase leading to the boardroom and trophy room. Just about within walking distance of the city centre, the local area is abuzz on matchday. Inside the ground it’s even more raucous – they don’t call it The Ibrox Roar for no reason. Whichever of the two Glasgow grounds you choose, visit for a big game if you can – you may not see anything like it elsewhere. DID YOU KNOW? Ibrox holds the record attendance for any league match in Britain – 118,567 people saw Rangers face Celtic in 1939. https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/ranked-the-100-best-football-stadiums-grounds-britain-uk-england-scotland-wales/5

  5. Its officially a loan for 6 months, then he signs as a Rangers player at the end of the loan. Its usually a way to get around FFP and moving the transfer fee to next season etc.

  6. This is a player who has made 18 first team appearances in his entire life, none in Brazil I'd add. I'm not entirely sure how he'll get a work permit, but that aside we're buying very much untried potential, he's unlikely to be ready for our first team. Both Diomande and Jefre are young players, playing in weaker leagues than ours looking to make a step up in standard. It's an interesting signing strategy, but it's risky. Whether either are currently ready to improve our first team remains to be seen. I mean we've bought players from better leagues than ours and they've been disasters, so I'm not knocking this new strategy, just pointing out both these players might need time to adjust.

  7. Excellent news, if it were me and there were a couple of deals in the pipeline at this point in the window i'd leave it as late as possible to announce so other mobs dont feel obliged to reinforce..

  8. Steve Davis took the team for that game against St Mirren in Paisley and started young Zak Lovelace. He was doing very well before sustaining a long term injury before half time. Davis substituted Lovelace for another youngster, Ross McCausland. I do not know his plans or intentions going forward in the game but, I hope the club can persuade him to join the coaching staff. A voice for youth is necessary going forward in Euro competition.

  9. Steve Davis was entitled to act similarly to Naismith and Whittaker. When he departed the club for Southampton, he insisted upon Rangers receiving a fee. A proper professional, a proper Ranger.

  11. Not sure how it works these days I don't suppose ferrying him up the Clyde to Govan in a rubber dinghy would help? (Thought I'd try to clarify the position, before one or other or all of the maniacal Empire Loyalists on this Forum try to organise this.)

  12. So has he got to remain in Tobermorey until then?

  13. Surely has to be a one month ban for mentioning malaria again.

  14. I think we would get better money for Ridvan in the summer, especially with a run in the team under his belt.

  15. It's an interesting one. I suspect most would rather Barisic is moved on but with only 3 changes available in the Euro squad (and Ridvan not in it previously) it may be Barisic is retained and the wee man moved on to help finance recent deals. For example, if it's Barisic we're able to sell (and there has been lots of interest previously) then our Euro squad changes would probably be Ridvan for Barisic, Silva for Lammers and Diomande for AN Other. That means any possible new striker would not be added. However, if it's Ridvan sold, we can accommodate another player (even Balogun for example).

  18. Give the malaria stuff a break mate, seriously, it's very wearing and not relevant in the slightest.

  20. I’ve seen a few games looks half decent good at back tracking more than going forward but let’s give him a chance, it’s Philippes story and first signing more or less not ours to judge . We will decide in time if it’s a good read we can usually tell half way through the book , so far I’d be up for a trilogy with his concept of the game so far 🤜🏼♥️🤍💙

  22. We definitely need at least one more attacking player; arguably two - one wide player and another striker. I don't think we can rely on Matondo, Wright or Roofe to supply consistent quality. This deal may allow us some flexibility in that regard whilst sticking to our FFP obligations.

  23. Apparently now a loan deal with an option to buy for around £4m....

  24. According to Sky Sports News, Rangers agree deal to sign Mohamed Diomande from FC Nordsjaelland.

  27. This was my first thought on this deal, I just don't see how we'll manage it unless his mum or dad is a secret Scotsman

  28. I love the old Rangers strip of him as a youngster, I’ll be interested to see if he knows how the fans operate and what standards have to to be adhered to in all times whilst wearing the jersey 🤜🏼♥️🤍💙

  30. Either Sandy Jardine was right or they were all entitled to put their own careers first. Either way, I don't like this idea of pretending one was somehow less guilty or more at fault. They all walked. The only hero in my books was Lee Wallace.

  31. As Mr Clement says, one game at a time and it's a marathon, not sprint.
