I've watched so many showreels of players we're signing / supposed to be signing ,ending in complete disappointment, that i don't even bother to watch them at all now. Valuations are of little relevance too when you think Wolves paid 35m for Silva. I'd expect world class, and a cut above for that sort of money , but from what i've seen so far ...well he's maybe 3.5m at best, though still room for improvement. I blame the EPL for the crazy valuations , they're fucking it all up for everyone else.5 points

In a nutshell. Sometimes it’s better not to win the header so long as the other guy doesn’t get an easy go at it.2 points

Great minds, I was about to use him as an example!. This is where stats can be unhelpful, McCall may not have won a huge amount of aerial duels, but you didn't have a free header if he was marking you, this makes a huge difference. We have many examples of great midfielders that you wouldn't say were dominant in the air, Albertz, Tugay, Ferguson, Reyna to name but a few....2 points

After the past few years, I don't understand how anyone can get excited about new signings. Far too many disappointments.2 points

Oh, I know I know. But it doesn't follow he is wrong about Rice.1 point

Beale is down there with our worst ever managers and already on a shoogly peg at Sunderland, after only a couple of months.1 point

Bailey Rice is another. Beale said he was 'absolutely ready.' Been on a the bench a few times.1 point

The way modern football is played, I don't think there's much need for midfielders to be particularly good at heading the ball. What bothers me far more is tackling being a dying art.1 point

According to wiki Aribo played 149 games in 3 seasons, if 80% of our squad could average 50 games a season for us over the duration of their contracts we'd be in a great position.1 point

For a team who can conceivably play 60+ games with deep runs in Europe and cup finals anything less than 35 apps (available for) a season is pretty unreliable imo, negligible even. Especially for a first teamer. I didn't rate Aribo half as much as Ryan Jack as a player but I'd take him over Jack if I had a choice because he'll put down 90 minutes 2 or 3 times a week for the full season. I don't mean this in a disparaging sense but Ryan Jack would be brilliant for a Kilmarnock or Motherwell just because of how much r&r he'd have between games. It's 3x a week for a full season with us - and then we schedule two bounce games during the winter break too.1 point

Big fan of the Diomande signing. Centre mid urgently needed strengthening, and Diomande seems to have the skillset to make an instant impact but develop into a better player over time. A return to a trading model after a summer window where we abandoned it. Diomande is more promising than Cifuentes for me, only concern being that the stats suggest he is utterly hopeless in the air. You can't have it all though.1 point
