I'm delighted it finally looks like the club is addressing the wheelchair accessibility issue. I hope that's enough space and it meets the needs of our supporters who use wheelchairs. As someone who is well into their 6th decade I think it is beholden on the younger generation to annoy people my age, usually excess noise and general exuberance will do it. Having the young guys who sing and chant all match in the Copland feels like a spiritual home coming, the Copland was where you went if you wanted a sign song when I first started going to Ibrox. Old guys complaining about the noise is inevitable. It happens to us all eventually.6 points

Rangers have spent similarly large sums of money on goal scorers before and seen precious little return, as evidenced by last summer's debacle on the transfer market. To be pragmatic, it's not so much what we spend but how many trophies we win as a result. If Shankland comes on board and scores the goals that win the league then the difference between £2m and £5m is largely irrelevant. If he comes on board and we don't win the league because we continue to fluff our lines in front of goal like last Saturday then even £2m would be a gross and pointless waste of money. My point is that if we seriously think Shankland is likely to score where we've previously been making a horlicks of it then the actual fee to sign him is to a large extent unimportant.6 points

VAR is, in general, a good thing. It doesn't pick up every error, as we saw on Saturday, but it does clarify a lot of issues. There are issues with things like handballs, but the problem is with the rules of the game and not VAR itself. Given Brendan Rodgers wants it scrapped, I'd have to conclude it's generally made the game fairer.5 points

Yes, how dare we take umbrage at being cheated. And how dare we catch them doing it.4 points

I'm fairly sure we can't afford Shankland and I'd be stunned if we signed him.4 points

Pleased for the disabled section and additional seating. Long overdue and a good start, not a finish, to what is required. Absolutely disgusted that they are bringing the nedsRus section into the Copland. The corner of the Broomie isnt even far enough away for that goddam awful drum and their silly wee songs. For their dreadful disruptive and agressive behaviour they are being rewarded with some of the best seats in the house. A total waste as most of the wee neds dont even watch the game, they watch themselves and film bits on their phones. I have been near enough to them on plenty of away games to make these observations. I dont see how waving a flag is encouraging the team to play while the ball is in play. All it is doing is obstructing the view of Rangers fans who actually want to watch the team play. Incredible capitulation by the club. Its almost as if they think the great atmosphere at the big Euro games was down to them and not the other 49,000 supporters who made the noise on those occasions. If it was all down to them then surely the atmosphere would be good every week? Newsflash, it isnt. It is just an irritable drumbeat throughout the game adding nothing to the atmosphere. Thankfully im halfway up the Rear section in the Copland stand so apart from that feckin drum and being able to hear more of their monotone chants, I shouldnt be too affected by it, but I pity anyone in the Copland front who wants to see the game.3 points

I quite like the profile of Dennis and Alzate: they're quick, mobile players who can play in several positions. Dennis is not a goalscorer, though. Shankland is a goalscorer, but I agree, I doubt - and would be quite uncomfortable if - we're paying £5m for him; I was similarly miffed at spending that on a 28-year-old Dessers! I would like a goalscorer, but I think I'd prefer us to spread the goals around; if Sima, Cantwell, McCausland, Danilo, Dessers, Silva (albeit he has 6 months) etc. can get 10-15 goals each, that's better than relying on Shankland getting 25-30 goals.3 points

Walter smith loved a ch at fullback to slot in. Moore, Mcpherson, papac etc. Would be good to free up tav more like this.3 points

However you spin this, the objective of VAR is to deliver correct and factual decision making on a consistent basis. That's clearly not happening. If VAR depends on the impartiality and fairness of officials then it's probably a waste of time in Scotland. The stain of bigotry and corruption permeates everything in Scottish football and it will never fulfil its mission unless it is taken out of the hands of our domestic officials. Ergo, something is very wrong with VAR.2 points

They've said that flags should not be raised while the ball is in play. It'll be interesting to see if they stick to that. I'd have thought that a big issue would also be those remaining in CF whose view may be obstructed by the singing section who stand for the whole game. I'd be asking for a seat move if I had to stand for the whole game. TBF, virtually all atmosphere in regular games is created by them. the stadium would be a morgue at times without them.2 points

No matter where the club relocated the UB / Broomie Collective it was going to cause a fuss. I've been a member of The Blue Order and sat close to UBs for years. Can't say it bothered me. Any time Ive had any interaction with UBs (during displays) they have been fine, explaining what was happening and what to expect. I'll remain in the Broomie for the time being as not part of UB or BC so don't think I'll be able to put in for a transfer. I'll be more upset if this does mean a return of Celtic getting the entire Broomie. No way I'm paying a ST and being omitted or relocated to host them. Also good and long-awaited news / update for the disabled supporters who've waited far to long for this.2 points

put a winning team playing attractive football and we'll all be singing and dancing2 points

That's more an issue with the corrupt officials than it is with the principle of VAR. Without VAR, they've got more of a cop-out that the ref didn't see it. It's the existence of VAR that's proven the corruption. Without it, it would just be another "honest" mistake.2 points

Kinda like voting for a goalkeeper who made one save during the entire match and uncharacteristically flapped wildly at another cross ball. 😉 I tend to see MOTM as someone who makes the best overall contribution to a game, rather than who make the fewest mistakes. On that basis Butland certainly made a telling impact but for a goalie to come out on top he really needs to make more than one save. Young Turk might have joined half a dozen others who misplaced some passes but if you're going to dismiss players in this team for an absence of perfection then there will seldom be a MOTM at all. What Yilmaz did contribute was a goal assist, some very decent defending, a willingness to break the LB tradition of passing backwards all the time, a readiness to come inside instead of endlessly pumping crosses to no great purpose ... and a generally positive involvement in play from KO to final whistle.2 points

As soon as people say, 'let's make it more like rugby', I'm turned off. Rugby is a shite sport to watch.2 points

Maybe referees should be miked up so they can explain their decisions in live time then everyone knows what's going on.2 points

Two things: There's been nothing to suggest we're actually in for Shankland. My issue with fees like £5m (and I still think we paid too much for Ryan Kent!) is that several areas of our team need to be addressed and we can't be spending half (or more) of our entire budget on one player. Then again, I'm not a football manager or a board member, so my opinion is worth about as much as Sam Lammers.2 points
-
Worth remembering that we paid £500K for Boyd, not £5M. If Shankland was available for £500K then it would be a "no-brainer". My personal opinion is Shankland would score goals for us. Would those goals take us to the title? That's the gamble and at £5M it may be a gamble we can't afford. Unless we can somehow move someone on for close to £5M.2 points

That's easy to say when the knickers aren't yours.... .....Oh, sorry, have I misgendered you?1 point

Hopefully it's a step towards rail seating being put in, I'd love to see the whole of the Copland lower standing personally. By the sounds of it the club are doing a lot to mitigate/compensate the fans having to move - personally I think it's for the better of the team. Wee update on the cantilevers and wheelchair access too. What do you think?1 point

VAR is just another thing to analyse or argue about. There's no less controversy about it in England than there is here. It's all very tedious.1 point
-
There's been a couple of incidents this season where nobody has claimed but VAR has picked up a hand ball and we've got a penalty. Obviously tennis has natural pauses after each point. I'm not sure it would work the same in football. If the captain isn't near the ref or management are busy trying to review the incident on screens to decide whether an appeal is justified and the opposition try and restart the game to prevent the appeal could be problematic.1 point
-
Cue another round of ridiculing rugby and asserting football as a very different game that necessarily depends of secrecy and cover-ups. We can't have transparency in football - we would have to get rid of most of the clowns referees we have today.1 point
-
Surely the denial of a penalty against Celtic and the subsequent cloak and dagger cover up suggests there is something VERY wrong with VAR. It's not just a case of missing things when the process becomes steeped in denials and contradictory explanations. The problem (as it was always bound to be) is that VAR has become just another tool to be employed by corrupt officials in Scottish football.1 point

Conor Barron for me please, believe he's available on a free.1 point

That's not the point. Shankland is the officially approved focus of conversation for this transfer window. Whether or not the club has an intention to sign him is completely irrelevant. 😉1 point
-
haha I wouldnt go that far! I understand many want wee donner boy to come good (me included) but just focusing on a couple of decent forward runs and ignoring his actual role in the team (to defend against wingers) is stretching things too far. Add in his constant giving away the ball in his own half (usually 3 times in first 10 mins, but again improvements have shown it was 18 mins at the Piggery and only 2 on the first 10 v Killie!) and i am not the slightest bit convinced we have a player here worth keeping. Just my thoughts and I would still have him before Goldson!1 point

VAR is far more tolerable when you're watching football on television and even more so when you have no emotional attachment to either side playing. It's just another sign of everything being driven by viewing figures or the tail wagging the dog. It's fantastic fun for analysts, which is why Sky, TNT and Viaplay employ a commentator, two co-commentators and between two to five pundits to (completely over) analyse a bloody football match. One of a few reasons why I've been at less matches this season than any since we got back into the top flight.1 point
-
The problem with VAR is some rules are subjective and we're still having the same arguments we were before it was introduced. It's good for off-sides and most penalty decisions but I'd still be up for scrapping it. It's just another layer of officialdom.1 point
-
Sounds good but it won't happen as the corruption in the corridors of Hampden will never let any of their annointed, sorry appointed ones take a rap.1 point

I know the money is not comparable but I recall the same conversation/debate was doing the rounds prior to Boyd signing for Rangers. His stats before and after his first stint with Killie and Rangers are as follows: Kilmarnock Pld 153 Goals 63 Rangers Pld 143 Goals 101 Low blocks or not, Shankland would score a lot of goals in this Rangers team.1 point
-
Yup, but they also have nowhere near as good players as we do, to supply him. No one is guaranteed goals of course, but he's about as close as you'd get in our league.1 point

Clement and the board will decide. If Hearts demand £5m, I think we'd be nuts to pay. Nothing is pre-proven in football (Hearts don't play against defensive set-ups the way we have to, for starters).1 point
-
What do you suggest the club should do? Better to target the dodgy officials one by one, with valid cases, than to go after the whole lot of them in one go.1 point
-
This would put us in an even worse place as the corrupt ones would no doubt collude with each other on the easiest way to give us nothing.1 point

The worst referee I've ever set eyes upon1 point
-
At least if we're going for crocks, it proves Clement really understands what the club is all about. 🤣1 point
-
Clement seems to like all-action / box-to-box central midfielders (Lundstram, Raskin, Sterling) and wingers / wide attackers (Sima, McCausland), so that could be something to look out for during the transfer window. At Monaco he liked one full-back to stay back to create a situational back-three, which requires more of a CB that can play FB, which could be an option for us - we are in need of a Barisic back-up/replacement.1 point

The only acceptable plates are Royal Doulton with hand painted periwinkles. Edit: I've tried to force a Hyacinth reference, but I'm not sure it works.1 point
