The manager must get so bored with the constant drivel that comes at him at press conferences3 points
-
Y’know what, all this transfer speculation seems particularly pointless now that we have a manager who knows what he’s doing. I’m finally content to sit back and watch him work his magic without the usual noise spoiling the show.3 points

Most votes have been cast. The featured five are Sterling, Tavernier, Balogun, Lundstram and Sima. Remind me. What were we saying about them in September/October? A lesson for us all, myself foremost: do not rush to judgement. I wonder what we’ll be saying about them at the end of the month.3 points

Had an argument with a yahoo on Saturday night about this, he was adamant that because their stadium is crap and they cant give seating parity . Thats not their fault and we should just suck it up and give them what they want. I said if you have a % of tickets behind a goal at our place then give us that at your place and everyone is happy. He said they cant, health and safety, seating segregation not possible, not their fault the stadium might fall down etc. Told him there is an easy fix, they pay the money and fix their Meccano arena then give us what they want from us and we can all move on. Wont happen though. Parity. Also mentioned they get the barrier at our place, get to go in at a reasonable time and get out at full time. Our fans get herded in there hours before kick off and have to wait hours after. Its not a level playing field. There is also no coincidence on the diddy teams cutting their nose off to spite their face by cutting our allocations. It will catch up with them eventually. The likes of Livi breaking rank will pay dividends for Livi and keep them ahead of the pack. Until they want to give like for like, No surrender.2 points

Sellik running football in Scotland is ruining football in Scotland.2 points

It is. The area went downhill, quickly, after capital punishment was abolished in 1965 (permanently in 1969). You may argue coincidence, but.....2 points

Bob Crampsey told a story -true, apparently- about a football commentary during WW2. I don't suppose that you heard the match coverage, although old @compomay have, unless he was serving out East with the Pioneer Corps, or somesuch. Anyway, the BBC was scheduled to provide live radio coverage of a game at Tynecastle. It may have been only of the second half, rather than the full match. No matter. Unfortunately a fog descended upon Gorgie, a pea souper, and with no prospect of it clearing, the match was postponed. At this point, the War Office contacted the BBC, fearful that the Lufwaffe, realising that the East coast was fog bound, would cancel any planned bombing raids, which, of course, would be abortive, and wasteful, in the prevailing conditions. It was agreed that the BBC, and its commentary team, would broadcast improvised coverage of a non-existent match, which, commendably, they did. Oh extempore, oh mores, as they said in the Pilton, when the story came to light. (The Hearts won 2-0, i I r c.)2 points

Went Sterling too, but as much for his impact in recent weeks when we've needed someone to step up. Good timing young man!2 points

A real shame. I was looking forward to attending and being awarded the opportunity to boo Santa. We continue to endure in the time of Peter.1 point

It is. I didn’t say it was Greek. I said it sounded like Greek. I was ten years in Edinburgh before I realised it was Pilton and not Piltdown.1 point

And some poor ould sod's heirs still arguing for a payout from Messrs Littlewoods.1 point

On checking with my Achaean correspondent, it seems that members of the Thracian diaspora settled there.1 point

I doubt that. Greek rather than Latin was spoken in the Pilton in my day. At least that’s what it sounded like. I heard Bob Crampsey talk on radio about the ghost commentary. The match was at Easter Road. Other broadcasters doubted the Mount Florida sage but Alex Cameron confirmed it as true. The valiant commentator thwarting the Luftwaffe was Rex Kingsley.1 point

I am assuming Yilmaz is on his way out - not that I want that; I quite like him. Barisic is always steady, but he's not getting any younger. I'd like to see him replaced, although it's not a priority.1 point

That header was Jimmy Millar style. Our other masters of the headed ball DJ and Hately would never have scored that - too tall. Millar could do the high jump stuff as well.1 point

After his recent outings I've pivoted from thinking we will struggle at Parkhead with Lundstram in midfield on his own to thinking they will struggle to deal with Lundstram and Sterling. If he can keep these performances up the likes of Raskin and Jack wont get back in the team, should a Christmas miracle occur and they miraculously regain fitness.1 point

Clement seems to like all-action / box-to-box central midfielders (Lundstram, Raskin, Sterling) and wingers / wide attackers (Sima, McCausland), so that could be something to look out for during the transfer window. At Monaco he liked one full-back to stay back to create a situational back-three, which requires more of a CB that can play FB, which could be an option for us - we are in need of a Barisic back-up/replacement.1 point

Very impressive, also another great example of a guy that could'nt keep a job outside Holland, going back and dominating.1 point

Good luck to him, perhaps he can use his experience here to forge a good career down south. Always had a soft spot for Sunderland, fans deserve a bit of fortune.1 point

Hope he does well, as I do with all of our formers.1 point

Aye that's fair. Although Tillman never gave the impression he wanted to stay and lo and behold, he didn't.1 point

I think if we're honest we know that Sima wanting to stay or not will have little to do with what actually happens at the end of this season. It's basically a meat market and there are big £numbers at stake.1 point
