  1. I agree with all of that, but it's worth discussing to try and identify why Bologna were able to spot something we weren't.

  2. There is a current attitude amongst many that SPL players are simply not good enough for Rangers. It seems mad to me. Buying players who are proven in the SPL and then surrounding them with better team mates is a far surer way of signing a decent player than searching through Dutch league 2nd string players.

  3. He bullied our midfield on many occasions in my opinion. Its mad that we still have people thinking he's not good enough for us when he is coveted by clubs who buy players more than our club is worth. FWIW this isnt 'what could have been' greetin into a pint. Its more of an open your eyes and look for the Andy Robertsons, Lewis Fergusons, Aaron Hickeys, Josh Doigs, John McGinns(i know that would never happen but in theory) that are here and performing instead of throwing money at guys from abroad who are not up to it and cant be registered for Europe.

  4. Firstly, there's a difference between keeping players on our books and signing a player for millions (including the Rangers tax). Secondly, I don't recall many performances by Ferguson while at Aberdeen that suggested that he was better than anything we had already.

  5. Don't think we're allowed to call them that these days. 🤣

  7. We're getting drawn into a silly argument. I don't think it's wrong to say Ferguson wasn't better than anything we had at the time (Kamara, Aribo, Davis, Jack, Arfield, etc.). He looks to be more than good enough for us now, but he wasn't then. However, what he was was a promising young player, who was performing well and was seen as one of the best midfielders in the league. These types of players should not be sniffed at. Even if they just become decent squad players, they should be looked at. How was Jack received at the time?

  8. I'm afraid Jan Hus and Martin Luther have both passed away, so there's no good priests left.

  9. If a gypsy’s curse exists, should Rangers be bringing in a priest to exorcise it?

  10. Maybe we should insert a clause into players contracts stating if they are injured, they'll get statutory sick pay?

  12. Great to see Lundstram's confident demeanour. I think it tells us something about general morale across the squad.

  13. Nail on head. I'd go as far as to say there's a legacy attitude among Rangers supporters that we're too good for the SPFL and that anyone starring for another Scottish club would, by definition, not be good enough for Rangers.

  14. I did and I said so when he was at Aberdeen - and I certainly wasn't alone. I also remember several others recommending him as a signing when he played for Hamilton. The criticism you quote could equally be applied to any number of missed signings. It says as much about the propensity of our supporters to parrot anything negative when it comes to a certain kind of prospect as it does about the players themselves. And in Ferguson's case so much of the negativity focussed on his relationship to previous Fergusons, to the extent you'd think we'd lost all sense of perspective. If I could give one piece of advice to Clement it would be to ignore the nonsense spoken by the support and follow his own path.

  15. I was never that impressed with him when we played Aberdeen and suspect he would've seen a lot more yellow cards in a blue jersey. People don't seem to factor in that clubs like Aberdeen and Hearts will bump up any transfer fee when we come calling. Either way, we didn't sign him and we can't afford him now. No point crying over spilt milk and all that.

  16. I don't recall him bullying our midfield and certainly many are looking at him now with the benefit of hindsight, although I'm not suggesting that you are. We absolutely should have tried to sign Andy Robertson when he was at QP. He was the standout player we played against on our way back up the leagues. There's also the question of whether he would have signed for us in the same way as McGinn. Hickey seemed lightweight while at Hearts and I'm not sure he would have got the chance to develop with us in the way that he has. Agree about Doig. I'd also comment that as I didn't see the potential in Ferguson and Hickey that you can probably take my views with a pinch of salt

  17. I don't watch much of the Premiership, but check the results. What's the story? Have opposing coaches got wise to his gung-ho tactics, or is it a case of luck evening itself up?

  20. Hasn't Sima already played up front before for us, with the concensus being he wasn't as good there? His best form has come off the left, going back to Prague.
