Saddened this morning to hear of the death of Rev MacQuarrie who I'm sure most of us will recognise (in name at least) from his support of and work with Rangers over the years. Stuart's uncle was my sister in law's neighbour. It was through that connection that I got a ticket for the 2008 Manchester final from Stuart. He used to tell a story of when he was going to the directors box during the Ashley years. He asked not to be seated next to the Easedales but as he entered the box, the Easedales stood up to shake his hand. Being a gent, Stuart smiled and shook hands but unbeknown to Stuart, this exchange was shown live on BT Sport. As Stuart sat down he received a text from his friend "now I know what Judas Iscariot looks like".

Stuart was a lovely man. He succeeded James Currie and successfully steered the chaplaincy into a wider ranging, all encompassing mission.

Beale's gone (thank f*ck). Having said that, Danilo looks like he might turn out to be a good signing.

JG was about 5' 10 I think? My cousin encountered him regularly in the lift at Edmiston when she worked there. She said he was a gentleman but, whisper it, she is from a family of Keltic supporters.

I wonder if the supposed Aston Villa fan had ever heard of him. Had he played in England he would have been spoken of in the same breath as Dave Mackay or Denis Law.

Wow! I certainly believe Aberdeen lie down to the green hordes and play out of their skins v us. Gilmour and Ferguson? Agree entirely. Not sure McLean is better than Calmac; his passing is erratic, but he is definitely one of Clarke's favourites and a certainty for the Euros. One reason Taylor gets in ahead of say, Doig, is because the manager aims at consistency of selection: you don't get that by changing and chopping according to form. Shankland is worthy of a start, but Dykes and Adams have proved their worth over a period so you don't suddenly jettison experience.

Not a day goes by when I don't think about Rangers and on none of those days do I ever think about the Scotland international team. I'm not interested in the Scotland team or who plays in it. I never watch it and really couldn't give a stuff whether it succeeds or fails. It's like removing a thorn from under your fingernail.
