  1. We need to get away from this weird fascination of giving or wanting to give important roles at the club to ex-players. Neil McCann - great player, great pundit but failed at almost every role he's had in football after a fantastic playing career. Craig Moore - another who had a great Rangers career biut done nothing of note after retiring as a player. Neither are remotely close to DoF material. Only "ex-player" who I'd approach is Davie Weir but we are very unlikely to tempt him away from his role at Brighton.

  2. At least the search for a manager has filled the usual void of a pointless international break. Why can't the SFA offer permanent central contracts to players like cricket does and stop taking players away from clubs. International football can compete for players like everyone else and stop leaching off the clubs?

  3. I imagine the board has to keep both parties engaged until a deal is quietly finalised. Hence why nothing can be leaked about either candidate being favoured over the other, just in case the intended deal falls through at the final hurdle. I'm beginning to think the board is exercising better process this time but time, as always, will tell. Is it even possible this could be the difference between Robertson and Bisgrove and between Park and Bennett?

  4. The bastards! The utter bastards and tormenting shits!! The decision is made, but they are not going to make it public until Hallowe'en. Clearly.

  5. The most important things for the board is to get someone who really wants the job, has the right background and experience & has convinced them that they have an immediate plan to try & improve performances and results from the squad they’d inherit. I must admit now leaning towards Muscat and either Craig Moore or Neil McCann as DoF is we’re bringing back that role.

  7. FA’s effectively borrow club players for their international teams. And the clubs & players have little choice but to comply. Clubs are the players employers. Where else would you find a situation where an employer would be told they had to hand over their employees to a third party for something and have little or no say in the matter? Same goes for other sports too I suppose

  8. Hazard was real world class at Chelsea, he could be unplayable and score and assist any type of goal. Its said he liked a burger van after training but it certainly didnt affect him at Chelsea, perhaps his body caught up with him in Madrid with that injury. But his numbers at Chelsea over a 7-8 year period was awesome. Easily gets into the conversation if picking a team of the decade (2010-2019).

  9. He's one of these David Healy types that seems to revel in international football, but is average at club level. Maybe he's just not had the right manager at club level as yet.

  10. Thing is, it's not just Rangers making offers for the candidates to accept or reject. Clement and Muscat will also be making counter proposals for Rangers to assess. Back and forth until everyone's position is as clear as possible ... only then can an informed decision be made.

  11. If it's Clement and Mitchell, then its a wee bit more negotiating. 😉

  12. Come on Rangers, announce something, anything - well apart from another new kit 😆

  13. He has got to be named today: 1. It's Friday 13th. 2. The appointment is, evidentially, nothing to do with the Football Board, and all to do with the ouija board. The logic is inescapable.
