Sadly, Dame Edna passed away earlier this year. (On the same day as Barry Humphries, coincidentally - A dark day for Australian culture.)5 points

The "staying to the end of the Japanese season" rumour has apparently been denied by Muscat's people, according to H&H.3 points

Sir Les Patterson, also, alas, deceased, would have made a splendid Club Ambassador, and could have doubled up as MC at New Edmiston House. Is Germaine Greer to old to help with the half time tea and sandwiches?3 points

I'd like to express doubt over both so that if either one turns out badly Ill be able to act wise after the event. (Which is to say, I don't have a Scooby.)2 points

Yeh I agree. It isn’t a negative, more of an observation I suppose that we aren’t currently set up to compliment that at the moment, but we do need to resolve that. A good coach and people person is what we need and he apparently is both of those.2 points

It does suggest we'll get a DoF. I see this (him being a coach) as a positive. I think that's what we've always needed. We don't have quality players that can manage themselves. We need a coach that can instruct and develop players.2 points

What they say in Belgium about Clement. With Genk, he was fighting for the title but lost a key player. The team was built around that key player (Alejandro Pozuelo). He transfered to a USA team about 10 weeks before the conclusion of the belgian competition. Everyone was convinced this would be the blow that would have Genk lose the title... However, Clement managed in a very short window to implement a new strategy in the team to cover for the loss of their key player... and won the title. Totally not a bruges fan, but his team played the best football in the last years (for Bruges then, Genk also played well with Van den Brom and Vrancken) and really dominated the competition at that time. He is an offensive coach and likes to create chances via the wingers and have midfielders who infiltrate. He started out at Beveren and despite being here for only half a season, I still miss those days. Best football we played in over a decade. This + the CL games against teams like Madrid prove he can get good results against bigger teams. He won the title multiple times which proves he can keep his team focused for the 'smaller' games against the other teams in the league. I really thought he was gonna do a good job at Monaco but it was a bit of a mixed bag in France, I can't really provide any insight there as I don't follow the Ligue 1. I wish you and your team the best of luck2 points

Or Nick Cave. His Wikipage describes his music as characterised by emotional intensity, a wide variety of influences and lyrical obsessions with death, religion, love and violence. Seems the perfect fit.2 points

Frankly, when I see who might have been appointed, I'm reasonably content with either of these two candidates. The choice isn't really about their CV's, which are fairly comparable, but about the strength of their character and their ability to dominate and lead a group of players who may not have the most honest application to their responsibilities.2 points

A blue suit and brown shoes is not the attire of a gentleman. As my late father would say: He looks like a hielan' sailor dressed up for the dancing in Kyle.2 points

A lot of noise about it being Clement but I’ve just seen he wears trainers with his suit and that is not on. I sincerely hope someone hands him some brown brogues before he is offered the job. We need to get the right fit for our football club.2 points

I don't want to be The Male Eunuch, even if the book sells millions. I volunteer you to ask. Nicely.2 points

I wanted Clement from the start but lately I can't get Paul Le Guen out of my head and the Aussie is starting to grow on me. The fact is that no one will know for about a year if any choice was the right one.2 points

I agree. Charlie Miller had a bit of a career but not the stellar one predicted by Hateley.1 point

That night was the one and only time I questioned whether I should continue to support Rangers. Given what came after that night, that may surprise some. To be spat at, threatened, called all sorts was bad enough, but then to hear Murray not only support, but congratulate those who attacked the protesters had we questioning if I wanted to be a Rangers fan. Thankfully I saw sense and continued to support our club and whilst it's been hard at times, never regretted it. As for your point about earning what came after that dark night, it's hard to disagree with this.1 point

An act of apostasy! Look at Clement's track record - very impressive. My cousin, a Rangers fan who supports Melbourne Victory, says Muscat would be a gamble. And he tipped me off about Ange before anyone here had heard of him.1 point

Wow that's got me excited. Spent the morning trying to convince myself about Eustace.1 point

I can see arguments for both but I will go for Clement for his European experience.1 point

If we are running with this Antipodean vibe. I insist we secure the services of Ned Kelly. He brings full body armour and a steel helmet, he will need it.1 point

That's what Man City use today, just with different position names; half-backs would be your #6s, inside forwards would be either #8s or outside forwards like Liverpool's Salah and Mane. Did that 4-2-4 come before the Hungarians? They're the first I know of to use it in the early '50s.1 point

I held my nose and turned a blind eye to the ponderous pace and endless backwards passing .... and voted for Tavernier.1 point
