I don't get this understanding the club stuff. Its way overstated. Celtic won the league 2 years running with the aid of 3 Japanese players who probably didn't understand what Celtic was. What they did understand was that hard work wins over fans and reaps rewards. They also understood a manager with a clear plan and structure. For me it's that bloody simple.8 points

I've already said it: You're saying it's damaging to sack managers, so we should stick with a failing manager? It doesn't make sense to me. We're sacking them because they've failed. Surely sticking with a failing manager is much worse than a 'look'. It's only a poisoned chalice if the whole club is a sh*t-show. We're not. We just need a DoF and a competent manager. We don't need a revolution.6 points

Steve Davis is a great professional. I trust him to do the job to the best of his abilities.5 points

To be fair, I wasn't expecting a new manager to be appointed straight away. Beale had to go, though. Hopefully it's only one game the interim(s) have to navigate.5 points

Got to say outside of Celtic we should really play with two forwards. Teams, will pack the defence and crowd, that one guy out. If we insist on one forward he needs to be the complete package. Hold it, turn it, strike it he needs to and be supported with two fast/strong wingers/inside forwards. I'm getting the feeling that the players are either not understanding what Beale wants, or they are(and following his plan, to the letter) and the rest of Scottish football can see it a mile coming. Now a good coach/manager, will know when that happens, it's time to react and change/try something new. If they can't and just hope, that some how plan "A" will work, they are in the wrong job5 points

Gerrard would have been given more players if he had managed his team to best Malmö at home from pole position.5 points

I'm just glad Beale is gone. He should've been punted after the Celtc match. Hopefully we have a permanent manager installed during the international break.4 points

Ah yes Dowell. The guy who barely played because of knee injuries before joining us has.. hardly played for us due to knee injuries. Didn’t need to be mystic Meg to see that coming.4 points

Or if Gio had played Roofe at some point. I never really forgave him for that and for running Alfie into the ground.4 points

I guess they just need someone to pick a team and talk to the players over the next 2 fixtures. I don't think there is chance in he'll that Davis will get the job.3 points

I’m sure he will but I don’t think that the Rangers job is a job for a rookie3 points

Given they've appointed a whole "interim" team and not just Davis (and Rae), it sounds like they are here for sometime. Hope I'm wrong3 points

What it shows is that our board do not do forward planning. It’s incredible that these businessmen find it so difficult to do the basics.3 points

We shouldn't write anyone off until they've had a few games under an actual football manager.3 points

I think Beale will be in charge until the international break. After that he must be gone.3 points

I think a better manager will get a tune out of these players they are playing bad but they are not bad players, just look at Rabbi last season to now maybe some of them just need time and better tactics to get a rhythm going. Beale must go it is untenable the fans have turned even the more level headed ones no one has faith he can quickly turn it around, if he was at a club with less pressure I think he could turn it around but this is Rangers it must be instant wins and challenging for the title not 3 defeats in 7 he knew the score when he joined.3 points

You have missed Dowell as well, but fear not you can safely dump him in the dud category with everybody else apart from the keeper of the summer window signings that were apparantly all Beale's picks and he didnt need a DOF overseeing him or asking questions.3 points

I think what you might be overlooking here is the importance in certain quarters of being seen to be especially angry and outraged. We're all disappointed of course but some have a defining role to play. That's not to say Bisgrove's hair isn't at the root of the whole mess.3 points

I’m content with Butland. I’d be very happy if he could more often grasp the low ball first time when diving. Danilo - possibly. Lammers - some football in him but maybe can’t produce it under stress. Dessers - see other topic. Sima - manages to score so maybe. Cifuentes - nothing good comes out of LA. Raskin - disappointing this season Cantwell - still not convinced. Who else? Sterling - forgot about him. So has Beale, apparently.3 points

I totally agree that it's with hindsight. My view is that selling some or all of these players may have meant that we didn't get that Europa run, and I wouldn't swap that for anything.3 points

If I were in charge I would have been sounding out managers after Killie loss and OF defeat ready to pull the trigger and make the change at any time. Given the noise that we approached Muscat, Potter and John Eustace (lol) I hope there is no smoke without fire and the board are ready to make the change.3 points

Rumour has it that it was Gerrard who didn't want to sell any of the players which meant there was limited funds to spend on new players. We spent a lot over this summer but it's been seen that it was funded by player sales. I'm not sure that the board are to blame for the lack of transfer activity after 55.3 points

I really don't get why people aren't agreeing that the board are making severe, dire errors? It's been obvious over many years now, even their appointment of DoFs is riddled with errors. They really need some consultation with experienced parties before appointing anyone else. Personally I think the appointment of a new manager at this stage will just put a plaster over our problems and the plaster will come off again at the start of next season. I think we are missing much more than a new manager. - We need a complete clear out of the squad, I thought this was happening during the off season but I was dismayed to realise that the same players that have failed year on year still make up the bulk of our first team for our games this season. A huge failure, and I still can't get my head around getting rid of Colek who was our most efficient striker. - We need to re-establish what it means to be Rangers within our dressing room. How do we do that? I believe we absolutely need to revert this snobbery of overlooking the best Scottish talent. Beale should be sacked alone for his remarks about Scottish players not being good enough and then signing Dessers and Lammers. Not only are these players a long way from the required ability we need, they are a long way from understanding what Rangers are. We need to start bringing in the best Scottish players again, and maybe the best Scottish coaches. I could rant all day actually, but I have to make scrambled eggs for my kids now.3 points

Get rid of the manager. Get rid of that god awful Tina Turner garbage. All remnants of 9 in a row should be assigned to our museum. We are far from Simply The Best. More annoyed than I was yesterday.3 points

The current situation reminds me of two previous periods in our club's history. I am referring to the emotions being exhibited by the majority of the attending support. Patience is a virtue rarely on show at Ibrox. The atmosphere is feral. The first period was the end of Davie White's tenure in 1968. We had drawn 1-1 in Poland against Gornik and expectations were high for the Ibrox return. It got better after Jim Baxter notched us ahead after several minutes in front of a huge crowd. Gornik began to play and handed us a football lesson. The game finished 1-3. A reported 12,000 fans stood in Edmiston Drive demanding White be sacked. He was. The second period was the end of John Greig's time as Gaffer. After five seasons, the law of diminishing returns was firmly established. Ham and egg was a true club legend and I witnessed several incidents of grown men swapping both words and punches in the stands over should he stay or should he go. The Board eventually decided upon the latter and reappointed Jock Wallace. I see problems in removing Beale. The Board will not want to admit a mistake and will hide behind the arithmetic. The cost of paying off the current Manager and his large staff plus compensation for the preferred target and his staff. Of course, there is the argument we cannot afford not to terminate his contract. We are 18 matches into this season including friendlies and I do not see a pattern of play. Our football is tedious and ponderous. In the last dozen years, we have had eleven Managers, six permanent and five temporary. It will be most difficult to attract the right man because there is largely no sense of continuity. The job has become a poison chalice. The one person awarded most time was Gerrard and he delivered the title. The support invested in the Liverpudlian because they saw obvious progress both domestically and in Europe. This should be a concurrent exercise, the club might find a Manager but the support must find patience.3 points

There's so much hysteria from the usual suspects over the Steve Davis appointment that I'm beginning to find it funny. Who knew we had so many savants in our tiny corner of the inter web?2 points

Aye but it could be his last chance to manage in Europe and potentially manage in the UCL. It's not a bad sell I don't think.2 points

We've just never really pushed on from 55. And here we are again another untried manager!.............................what a shambles!!!.2 points

As I said on the other thread, If it wasn't evident previously, this shows those "leading" the club are utterly clueless.2 points

Red flags have been there for a long time so if the board are remotely competent, they shouldn’t be starting from scratch right now. Beale has been yet another pothole we couldn’t afford to hit and we feel as far away as we did when Gerrard joined at the moment. Free access to Champions League money 3 years in a row makes that the case. It will take a genius appointment to stop that happening, and I don’t think our board have that in them.2 points

Thinking about the situation we find ourselves in, it seems inconceivable Beale will still be manager next weekend. Despite all the silly talk about James Bisgrove, this is exclusively a task for John Bennett and the Rangers International FC board. I don't think he will continue to delay the inevitable. I can see Beale taking the team to Cyprus but no further. I hope this is the way it happens. God knows how we get rid of the expensive imposters Beale has saddled us with.2 points

We're going round in circles here, as we discussed this last night. You seem to be saying we need to sack Beale but we can't because we might get the next appointment wrong.2 points

He’s had about half a dozen nice touches but he’s slow. I’m not talking about pace over the ground. He knows what he’s trying to do but his stumbling feet won’t let him. He’s not as good as Waghorn.2 points

Would signing Scottish talent, eg. Shankland and Nisbet, mean more goals? We are a team set up to not make chances. It's criminal. I'm done watching Tav continually hit those floating and aimless crosses to no one.2 points
