I did actually think about that possibility before I posted but then I thought ...... nah, there isn't a cat's chance in hell of Beale winning the title this season. And even if the unlikely miracle does happen, I'll just deny everything and log out.3 points

But where will we be when Beale brandishes the Scottish Cup at the end of the season to add to the Championship? I’ll be shouting for a second helping of that delicious humble pie.3 points

No but they do suffer from exactly the same unwarranted exceptionalism syndrome as the SNP and its community of victimhood junkies. I wonder what grand political gesture was being made when they booed Ryan Jack again? Maybe the nationalist grunts thought he was playing for England, or was he just the wrong sort of Scot maybe?2 points

Back in the day, some mob would line up with their hands over their hearts and sing the national anthem of Jebrovia : We all carry big chibs in Jebrovia we fcuk the Ruritanians every time, we fcuk their wives in the arse, and drink myrtle brose and electric wine. It is forty - odd years since Billy Connolly suggested the the theme to the Archers should be our National Anthem. I can live with that; however, back in my professional days we would occasionally work with Scots Regiments ie the Black Watch, Gordon Highlanders, Royal Highland Fusiliers, etc and, they all sand a song with gusto that epitomised our nation. It was called, 'We're a Shower of Bastards'. I would like to propose this ditty as our new anthem, do I have a seconder? We're a Shower of Bastards, Bastards are we, we'd rather fcuk than fight, for liberty. We're happy, we're happy when the knob's on the job, we're happy, we don't give a fcuk for the syph' or the pox, our motto is spread disease. Straight to the heart and brings a tear to the eye.2 points

Just adding to the excitement 😁 In all seriousness, I think most voting for him to stay are really only trying to avoid a care-taker manager, and the inevitable multiple will-he / won't-he rumours and protracted negotiations with potential appointments. I'd like as smooth-as-possible a transition to a properly considered new gaffer.2 points

From the Daily Telegraph: ”Ally McCoist blasts Scotland fans who booed national anthem – and admits he sang God Save The King When it was put to McCoist that he was being too “pro-English”, he responded: “I'm British. You got a problem with that?” BySam Dean13 September 2023 • 11:32am “Ally McCoist, the former Scotland striker, has described his country’s supporters as “totally out of order” for booing God Save the King ahead of Tuesday’s friendly against England. The national anthem was drowned out by Scotland fans at Hampden Park, where McCoist was working as a co-commentator. The former Rangers player and manager said that he sung along to God Save the King on the gantry and suggested that “SNP fans” were behind the jeering of the anthem. “I do not like the booing of any national anthem to be honest with you,” McCoist said on TalkSport. “I just think it is a distinct lack of respect. I genuinely dislike it intensely. “If you can’t show respect, I am not talking about England, I am talking about anybody or anybody that goes to Hampden, any football ground or any sporting event. If you can’t show the opposition respect by respecting their national anthem, I think it is a poor show. “I get the rivalry with England and Scotland, and I get some of the Scots, perhaps SNP fans, giving it the whole bit, but I am talking about in general. There should be respect shown for an opposing national anthem and I think it is totally out of order.” ‘I am British. You got a problem with that?’ When it was put to McCoist that he was being too “pro-English”, the 60-year-old responded: “For telling the truth? What all these guys can do is put their head back under the covers or the pillow. If they want to lift their head up and open their eyes, great. It’s them that need the reality check, nobody else. “Actually I was [singing God Save the King]. Because I am British. You got a problem with that?” England went on to win the game 3-1, with goals from Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane. During the match there were witness reports of an England fan needing medical treatment after being struck by a bottle thrown into the away end.” Well said, Super. Incidentally The Telegraph employs a writer who doesn’t know his sung from his sang. Couldn’t of went to the right university.2 points

I actually quite like McCoist as a co-commentator. He has those staples that grate a little, but he's entertaining and positive, and he doesn't take himself too seriously.2 points

Him being sacked before 2024 is inevitable. There's plenty of evidence he isn't good enough. I'm hoping the only reason he's still here is because the board are sorting out a new manager and would prefer to stick with Beale than to use an interim.2 points

The type of player he is he could easily play in 75% of our home games this season and stroll it. Such a good passer and very comfortable in possession.2 points

You never know. He might develop a persistent injury or medical condition that benches him for long periods every season - then he'd fit our marquee signing profile perfectly.2 points

No but Liverpool (the city) has been Irishified, just like Glasgow, Dundee and all the other shitholes that vote for people who hate being British.1 point

Totally agree, it's cringeworthy. But as long as they do get played it would be a blessing if we didn't feel the need to act like feral adolescents every time.1 point

The board should have a list of possible managers at the ready at all times. Boards of football clubs most times wait too long to replace incompetent managers, these same guys would not give a poor manager in their companies the same treatment.1 point

I'll be honest I am wary whenever I go up to watch Rangers of what people make of me when I interact (English, brummie). Not so much in and amongst rangers fans but more out and about in Glasgow. I'm pro union and my dad fought in the Falklands and my Grandad was kicked out of the Warwicks and then subsequently joined the Argyll in WW2. I don't know, I suppose I'm just saying I find it sad when there's that much vitriol for the anthems.1 point

The played 'Scotland The Brave' for a few years but the grunts were incapable of remembering the words so something more steeped in bigotry was needed instead. Us Scots have always needed to mobilise the chip on our shoulders to form an attachment to anything. Sad but true.1 point

🗣️Former Croatia midfielder Jurica Vranjes: "In my opinion, the key to the victory was that Borna Barisic played at left back, because he works much better with Perisic. We have a great national team, and now we have got that left side starting with Josko Gvardiol, Barisic at the left back, Perisic in front of him in attack. Borna Barisic has been playing at a serious level for years in Glasgow. What we have is top quality."1 point

They wont get rid until its far too late just like Gio. I get you've got to give him a chance but in the 4 big games against Celtic he's had the team have utterly messed up in all of them. Suppose we just need to let this play out and hope for some kind of miracle.1 point

Agree with you the "too young" syndrom is a pathetic view of players ability, just think of big DJ in the past.1 point

This flag flies outside my house every day of the year, except my one isn't upside down. Some of my neighbours stopped talking to me when I installed the flagpole, can't think why, the miserable nationalist basturts.1 point

Michael Beale has shown that, if determined, a manager may achieve these ends, even under the strictures of a Transfer Window.1 point

It's scant commiserations to Beale now but watching live I did think Roofe was 2 or 3 yards off of the pace of the game and looked to be running through treacle and watching back he was everywhere the ball had just been. That sub just isn't the stick to beat Beale with imo. The approach/setup/recruitment is though and it was criminal how he approached that game like we were away at the Bernabeau. I'm 50/50 on whether we should sack him - simply because the calls for Kevin Muscat are terrifying. That's a step away from hiring Harry Kewell. Fuck that.1 point
