Scott Arfield's mistake was to make application under his own name. The best name to use is, 'Gordon Archer'. It is a name of incredible good fortune when making application to Glasgow City Council. Four years past, the Council spent £350,000 refurbishing 12 shops on the Saltmarket at Trongate(Glasgow Cross). This was a scheme known as, 'Meanwhile Spaces, an attempt to take empty shop units in rundown areas, do them up and, hand them over to entrepreneurs at peppercorn rental rates. The idea being to reinvigorate the area. Applications were made and a ballot was necessary to decide the new tenants prepared to pay the rental costs of £1.00(one pound) per annum. Gordon Archer came out the ballot first and he took two of the shops to create an art gallery. Gordon Archer is the husband of Glasgow City Council Convenor, Susan Aitken. Of course, Gordon Archer is of such good character he was suspended from holding Directorships for six years only last year. Gordon transferred several hundred thousand pounds from LDB to a personal account, the week before the company went burst, owning millions to creditors. Obviously, 'Meanwhile Spaces' does not apply to Copland Road. Scott's second mistake was not to consult the SNP Policy Advisor to Susan Aitken, Gerry Braiden. Falls Road born and bred Gerry formed the Ibrox and Cessnock Residents Association. Remember, they stymied Rangers attempt to buy the sports centre facing the Stadium and objected to plans for the recently opened Edmiston House. What are the Ibrox and Cessnock Residents Association's plans for Copland Road? I suppose as soon as Gerry tells them, we'll know.5 points

I am worried about our CB’s. All we’ve done is let Helander go & bring back 35 year old Balogen (Sterling isn’t a CB) We haven’t strengthened this area of the squad & after last season when we ran out of fit CB’s & threw in young Leon King this should have been a priority.3 points

I’d rather Wright stayed. You & I must be in the minority who rate Wright.3 points

Lots of new players this can now be considered the manager’s squad he will get the plaudits if it goes well god help him if it goes tits up . We still haven’t addressed the problems of the full back positions that will be costly as the season rolls on as for the new lads we can only hope they all gel and play to whatever system the manager plays, would be nice to win some silverware and a wee run in Europe to earn much needed money we know who we have to better and these games will be crucial in instilling confidence in our squad. mon the gers3 points

I'll be watching the match in a bar in the South of France, if the local rugby bummers allow it. Fingers crossed...2 points

He's never been one our star players but he's usually made a contribution when asked and sometimes he's made the difference between 3 points and something less. I think he'll continue to do what's required when he's asked and I agree he's a better player than many give him credit for. Clearly, as usual, you and I are right and the rabble are wrong. 😉2 points

We should be up on trades description charges for listening Tavernier as a defender 😆😆🤣2 points

Fashion JR away is mistake imo. Every second touch may be bad, but he gives us goal contributions.2 points

I think Barasic was always gonna be 1st choice. Yilmaz has been constantly injured / "settling in" and when available shown nothing to suggest he is capable of making the LB position his.2 points

I like to view these types of matches* like Scotland national team matches and see it as a bit of a win/win scenario. Hibs win - good for the coefficient and for Scottish football overall. Hibs lose - makes lots of Rangers hating twats miserable, which is very enjoyable. *Celtc are excluded, for obvious reasons2 points

We'll see in time how this works out but on the face of it I think this is the perfect move for Lowry. However, I'm much more interested in whether or not it proves to be the right move for Rangers.1 point

Hope he gets game time or this is a waste of a great talent1 point

This should answer a lot of questions. Let’s hope that by Christmas he has performed so well we are clamouring for an early return to help the team retain leadership of the league for the remainder of the season.1 point

Probably the expected squad tbh. don’t forget, we can change the registered squad between each round, so expect the likes of Roofe and Lawrence to come into it once they have caught up on fitness, this round probably just too early for them.1 point

We've done the Barisic experiment. It didn't work, so now we're trying the Yilmaz experiment - if that ultimately fails, we need another option. There's no point going from one unsatisfactory solution back to another unsatisfactory solution. But I don't think we've reached any conclusion with Yilmaz yet.1 point

I do like your positive sentiments but, in all honesty and on the basis of what we've seen so far, I'm struggling to understand anyone being impressed with Sima.1 point

Very interesting squad, more for the ones missing than those included. It’s only for 4 games (hopefully!) and takes us through to the end of the window but must indicate to some to get themselves a move out. There is nobody omitted I’d miss.1 point

Yea...crazy. Considering he turned down a deal with a team like this to be here. https://sporenvanteri.ibb.istanbul/en/facility/pendik-stadium Say what you want about his play...but he must really love Rangers to say no to that. What a ground! That front façade...class. Pretty sure that place was in Midnight Express.1 point

Agree re europe, but still think we are capable of a decent run in the Europa. Coefficient points are the same for a win etc, and likely have more chance in that competition that the champs league. Tbh, I think I’ve seen enough little glimpses of a few of the players to think they will be a quality additions. The only one I haven’t been too impressed with is Dessers, but I’m not going to judge any of them in pre season.1 point

He mentioned Davies at the end of the interview. I was just assuming Balogun is injured due to no mention of him to be fair he might be fine. Just watched it again and he said Leon B and Leon K are available.1 point

It was actually be OK if that was the case but the authorities in this country are as unenlightened on sex as they are on cars and alcohol, but given their approach to drugs, I guess they'd be happy for it to be occupied by dealers.1 point
-
An interesting point. However what are they expecting it to be occupied by? A fast food joint? There's already a few of them. I could understand if there were a number of people wanting to take it on but presumably there isn't. Would they prefer it to lie derelict? It makes me yearn for the days of Michael Kelly when I see what's happening1 point

It's a joke that it's been refused. What are the SNP's city development plans? They seem hellbent on destroying the city with the lack of support for the city centre, the crazy LEZ, lack of public transport, taxis being forced away, resulting in the closure of outstanding restaurants and the place being overrun with junkies. It would be interested in what plans they've got for Copland Road. We know that any development will continue to be in the east end whereas they allow the area around our stadium to be run down or to hem us in with social housing to try and prevent any development of the club's environs.1 point

Scottish football was the winner as the Chief poured torrential rain upon Leith. Hibs ran out 6-1 winners, progressing to the next round 7-3 on aggregate. Hibs face FC Luzern next week the evening after Rangers face fellow Toblerone munchers, Servette.1 point

Wouldn't we have to reach the quarters or semi's of the UEL to match the prize money of getting to the UCL though? Surely the ideal would be qualify for UCL as third seeds, get third in the group and drop into the UEL? It's not easy but it's what we should aspire to do imo especially as it's the last season you can do it. With the UCL expanding from next season and it looking fairer to get to the last 16 (imo) we need to get as much experience as we can get, instead of making our bed in the second rate European competition. We were all aboard Rangers getting better and healing but as soon as we got a few spankings in our first season back in the champions league after going bust and being demoted to the lower leagues fans turned around and made love to the UEL. I just can't get on board with that. Tough it out. Fully agree on winning the league of course and keeping them down.1 point

I agree he did a lot of tracking back, and it is possibly no coincidence that in all three pre-season games the right-back gave us the most problems. It is of course an attacker's role to score and assist, and that is where he fell short. How often did you see him breaking a gut to get in at the back post to score? Not often in my view.1 point

Yeah, we really need the likes of Hibs to put away teams like this. It's bad for the coefficient.1 point

Once upon a time pubs were licences to print money. Not any more. One of the richest blokes I ever knew had one of his betting shops next to a pub. He bought the pub. Most lucky winners at the bookie’s went straight next door and gave him his money back.1 point

Good luck to him. I'm not sure the application will be successful due to the flats above the property and God knows what else but if it is, I hope it's a big success.1 point
