  1. It remains to be clearly established what Sima is for..

  3. Pining after old wingers, who really weren't up to scratch, is de rigueur on here. I'm so glad I won't have to watch Candeias putting in a woeful cross or Kent doing a wee fancy trick before passing it back to Barisic ever again.

  4. These are the types of games I would love to see the likes of Rice get some game time with the first team squad. If we don't, we risk frustrating them and potentially losing them. He looks a cracking prospect, and it would be great to see what he could do as part of the wider squad this season

  5. we are struggling down our left without kent in there working hard as fuck as he always did.

  6. For this season, the minimum must be the title. We need to win this, and I firmly believe we can. I know the performances havent been that great in pre season, but midfield and attack I think we will be strong, with not just starting quality, but also in depth across most of those positions. The concern is still defence. I think Yilmaz has the potential to be our starting LB, but a few dodgy moments in pre season is beginning to make me doubt this. We also need another centre half through the door, as we saw in the Hoffenheim game, we ended up with no centre halfs finishing the game! Regarding Europe, I don't really care what competition we end up in, what I want us to do is maximise the amount of co efficient points available, to help our chances of qualifying for the club world cup, as that would be a major boost for the club financially. The team is going to take time to gel, so we need to have some patience while they get to know each other etc.

  7. Up here referees will have a Rangers watch and a real watch on the other wrist

  8. Didn’t he famously say something along the lines of being better against teams in the next match as after he seen them he figured them out. Would kind of back that up. Dunno how he just couldn’t watch them before we played them and be ready for the first game 😂

  9. Its definitely moving to a new format , however you need to be a Philadelphia lawyer to understand the 2nd place route

  11. Can we change it to any format that would allow me to win the bloody thing? Fine how it is IMO

  12. Everyone is grateful for a fullback scoring so many goals when the rest of the team is scoring too few. However, it's perverse to go out and recruit strikers and still persevere with a defender who is so clearly poor at defending. If anything, Tav has covered up a glaring inadequacy that should have been addressed long ago - now it has and it's time to stop compromising our defensive standards. I dare say we can find another penalty taker. Maybe even someone to take throw-ins! This has nothing to do with loyalty to a player and everything to do with the good of the team as a whole.

  13. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/jul/28/premier-league-referees-to-add-on-time-lost-for-goal-celebrations-this-season In the English Leagues this season the exact time lost during goal celebrations will be measured by referees in the coming season, as part of a move to clamp down on dark arts and time-wasting. Other changes will involve players receiving treatment off the field whenever possible to promote player safety and deter teams from slowing the game. Exceptions include when a goalkeeper is injured or if players from the same team have collided. In circumstances where a player declines medical assistance, a teammate perceived to then purposely delay the restart will be cautioned. Referees have been reminded to book players who fail to respect the required distance at free-kicks. These seem to be FIFA directives but I've not heard of any changes to happen in Scotland.

  15. We now have little or no options in wide areas up front Kent’s gone, Wrights about to go leaving just Matondo whom I wouldn’t think has much of a future at Rangers. Not sure Sima is a wide player

  18. I might not agree with your point above but I definitely agree with this comment. I am expecting to see huge improvements in this area this season.

  19. Don’t think so. The regulation issue is the celtic Watch which is capable of variable time keeping in any match no matter what teams participate in order to meet one purpose only.

  21. It's almost time for the next GPL season. I like to get everyone's thoughts on the state of the game. Are you all happy with it? Would you like to see any changes? There are times when I'd like to simplify the scoring, so everyone's bunched together more - a bit like the the Euros or World Cup games - but there is something to be said for having a lot of ways to score points. For example, I could remove the Correct Number of Rangers goals (1 pt), so it's just Correct Result (1 pt), Correct Score (3 pts) and First Rangers Goalscorer (2 pts). What are your thoughts?

  22. Fine as it is really... but perhaps we could give each player a joker where they can double/treble points for a prediction... might be good to save for the latter stages of the year... Or, perhaps @Rousseau could randomly select one fixture a month to be a double/treble pointer... that might be easier to administer rather than having to track everyone's use of a joker.

  23. last season there were only , I believe 3 goals conceded more than Celtic , however we scored over 20 less than them , thats whats cost us , if we can convert only 10 % more of the same amount of chances that we created last year we will win this league . There are players that have left that brought me great moments and memories over their time at the club , but they simply didnt produce last year , we now have serious options up front , yes at the back we are a bit all over the place at the moment but if we can get the midfield sorted out that will help massively . As per usual with us there is a massive over reaction to any negative , we need to hold out nerve . Last controversial personal point , I still think it would be better for us to be in the Europa league given this world club championship possibility , but thats just my opinion .Given the changes to the champions league next year we need to win the title , end off .

  25. I also believe that GvB's run was built upon the fitness work done by Gerrard's team. Once GvB implemented his own the following season, we were awful in that regard.

  27. Like Liverpool the age of our squad and games in the legs has probably told in recent seasons. 60 game seasons with some players being used like a bar of soap (Tav, Goldson, Aribo etc) is going to tell eventually. Liverpool have been reaching UCL finals consistently as well as making cup finals, you can't rag your players forever like. You can almost judge that teams peak by their front 3's age, with all of them being 27/28 between '19-'20.

  28. You're correct, but in our case we only need a true high press in certain games. Domestically, the majority of teams let us have the ball so it's usually about beating a low block.

  29. I'm sick of hearing about Tavernier's poor defensive capabilities. There's no right or wrong answer, though.

  30. We have a tremendous asset in Tavernier: 30 goal contributions a season from FB is phenomenal. Is it worth removing that for a FB that can defend? Or do we compensate by defending differently? I'm in the latter camp.
