We haven't kicked a ball in anger yet and it might well take a few weeks to get this new squad playing sweetly but, whatever happens, I think we should show our appreciation to John Bennett and the board for their commitment to the club and the support this summer. Having had such a protracted and often disappointing journey, it feels at last we may be approaching the end of this long recovery. I'm hoping so anyway.7 points

Well Ryan Jack has changed the game. Great cross from Yilmaz in the build up there. Looks a star that boy 😛4 points

There was some better link up play with the forwards today so good to see improvement there. Lammers is really beginning to impress. We need Cifuentes here. The midfield is lacking. Cantwell is like a lost soul at the moment. He is doing his share of defending but is making little impact going forward. We need to find a niche for him. Our fullbacks are a major worry. I know Tav scored and had an assist but defensively he was a bomb scare. Ridvan was just dreadful. We cannot possibly go into the season with these accidents waiting to happen.3 points

Fairly happy with that, the manager will know there's a fair bit of tweaking to do but I think there's the bones of a good squad there. Actually thought I saw a player in Sima today, he's rough round the edges but there's an effective player in there. His link up was pretty competent at times even if he started poorly. The balogun signing will be nonsensical if we don't bring in a LCB imo though.3 points

Injury prone player gets injured. Shouldn’t have signed him tbh and I like him as a player and a personality.3 points

For the first, what 25 mins, say, both teams looked dozy. Unfortunately, the Germans woke up and realised we were there for the taking. And took. Ridvan clearly can't tackle, or even block, so why is he left, on his own, to do so? What we have is full backs who are not, primarily, defenders, and who receive no support from teammates. Remeber when Kent was interested, and tracked up and down, covering, and peressing? And, I hesitate to say, as he seems to have a poor rep, Candeias? Oh, and up front is less than impressive. I wish someone would tell me how a transformation into a CL team, or even an SPL winning team, is going to occur.3 points

Would be a fucking miracle from what I see3 points

What shape? Where are Raskin, Cantwell, Lammers, Sima all meant to be playing? I see no discernible shape middle to front apart from Lundstrum sitting doing nothing in front of defence and Dessers doing nothing in a central forward area.3 points

Yes, it's never just one mistake; it's generally a series of mistakes. In our case it all starts with a poor press and then poor midfield back-up.3 points
-
Nah, simple explanation is he was at fault for both goals. Said after midweek game that he gets an easy ride and defended simply because he ISNT Borna. He's shown NOTHING in his time here to show he is a Rangers player longterm.3 points

Totally simplistic to blame Yilmaz alone. There was a man wide open in the 6 yard box. Maybe he should have been marked? There was a whole build up where our centre mid were invisible and they got the ball out to a man on the edge of our box with ease. There's a lot going wrong.3 points

Cantwell and Yilmaz cost another goal. Very sloppy. No pace in the game at all, which is fairly typical for a friendly, but as a football match it’s pretty awful to watch. First chance to see Sima, Dessers, Lammers from the start and was looking forward to seeing them but the game is so poor they’ve not been in it much. We look very easy to pass through, and balls in behind seem to always find an unmarked man.3 points

Barisic, Davies and Tav can't defend. Sweepstake over.3 points

Unfortunately, we badly lack stability when he doesn’t play. The defence is far better protected when he plays. I think our defence has been hung out to dry a bit in preseason by the tactics and player selection in midfield. They’ve offered no protection to the defence.2 points

Is there a bionic store where we can get whatever spare parts are required to keep Ryan Jack fit and available. Because we're twice the team when he plays.2 points

Terrific striker...................if he can just stay fit???????2 points

Are you sure ? Looks like Balogun & Lundstrum central with small donner & Tav still at FB to me?2 points

In fairness, this trait of getting stronger as the game goes on/when changes are made could be a sign of a strong squad and good fitness. Or a sign of a manager who doesn't know his strongest XI. Who knows.1 point

Been thus for a couple of seasons now. Scout for somebody who can read the play in front of him, get into position (you don’t have to be lightning fast to do that) and then tackle like the clap of doom. I don’t care if the chap can’t waltz up the wing and snap off a defence splitter pass. Maybe just lay the ball off to … to … er … Danilo?1 point

I admit my heart sank a little when I heard some of the more idiotic stuff. What is wrong with these people? They behave like this is their first time out of the scheme.1 point

I even thought a wee dink back to the 'keeper was easier than fighting a 50/50.1 point

Not that Wright. This is the young 'keeper, Kieran Wright. Actually, he's 24! WTF is he still doing here? Maybe just fulfilling the Andy Firth role now? The back-up's back-up.1 point

Aye but after this game it's the real McCoy so we need to get an edge on our play .1 point

Another piece of the jigsaw arrives and with Cifu apparently due to come in next week, we're not far off having everything to complete the puzzle. A case of moving players on now with perhaps one more central defender an agreeable option depending on Ben Davies' future? All things considered, this has been a fascinating summer from the club. A fair amount has been spent and the manager certainly backed. I'm somewhat surprised we've brought in as many players in this window and now the act of blending them all together successfully begins. BTW.
