Geniune question, would Danilo score or make anymore goals than Sakala would if he was first choice? If Sakala had been in the first team under Beale since the start of last season he'd be knocking on for 30 g/a in the league if I've got it right. My maths might be wrong but... His p90 in the league since Beale for g/a is 1.1. He played 18 games totalling 1,111 minutes. He was available for 13 games prior to Beale excluding injury so I multiplied the 1,111 minutes by 0.72 13/18 which would be 799minutes/8.8 games. Then 8.8 x 1.1 (his p90 for Beale) and it's 9.7. Add that to the 16 he got under Beale and you're looking at a hypothetical 26 g/a in 1,910 minutes I.e 21 full 90's. That's just in the league. People sleep on Fashion man, he was the difference yesterday but people are talking about Dowell and Ridvan who to be fair were good. I might be howling but I fully believe if you start with Sakala and a another striker this season, in the league at least, he'll get 20 goals no problem. Maths might be iffy, apologies if it is.3 points

I think he looks great when he plays on the right. We saw a couple of glimpses yesterday when he played killer balls and used his pace. He doesn't look as suited to playing through the middle, which is where he's mostly had to play so far.3 points

Just me that thought Roofe looked like the best forward at the club during his 20 minute cameo? Oh for a fit Roofe all season. Thought big Lammers looked okay when he came on too. I'm sure Dessers and Sima will improve with games. Still not sure what any of you are seeing in Ridvan. Sakala brings something to the squad that currently no one else does. He's fast, he's direct, he's energetic and he can cut inside or outside. His shooting and decision making need work as does his grasp of the offside law, but I'd keep him in the squad if we can afford it. Like the look of Dowell and quietly impressed by Rice. I'm not sure how much game time he'll get this season but you wouldn't be concerned if you saw his name on our team sheet now, can't say that about many 16 year olds. Our 'homegrown' requirement for European football will be interesting this season. Assuming they're fit then Jack and Soutter are obvious. Perhaps a keeper, if McCrorie moves on then maybe Keiran Wright. Rice, Devine and Lowry probably. Yfeko won't qualify so we're into guys like Lovelace and McCausland who don't look like they're ready for the 1st team. It's a surprise to me we've not moved for some Scottish players. We could have afforded Nisbet, maybe Kenny McLean, after all we've signed every other Norwich player, maybe even James McArthur who could play the games Jack can't.2 points

We are playing different systems depending on who is on the pitch at any certain time. Pre-season is all about getting minutes into all the players so it will always look a bit disjointed. Think is obvious we're looking at a high press and have scored goals against Newcastle and Humburg pressing them. We are also looking to build from the back but our best exponents of this are Goldson and Souttar. Think it's a little early to worry about players form, tactics, systems etc, it's all about getting players fitness levels to where they are required to be.2 points

Hope it is something they'll do going forward.2 points

As I was travelling back from hols today I’ve only just caught up with the match thread, and it seems to have been mission accomplished as far as Beale is concerned. A lot of players got game time and there were no injuries. That is all I look for from these pre-season games, they really mean nothing apart from that. We should be seeing sharpness and our shape improving as these games continue to ensure we are ready for Killie on 5th Aug, when the crucial CL qualifier a few days later.2 points

I was in CF1 today and that drum and the UB songs generally got on my tits a bit. It's like modern music - no tune and the rhythm is dull. Ach well, I'm getting auld. We had the best songbook in the world but its getting lost amongst the monotonous dross.2 points

Looking forward to tomorrow's match against Hamburger SV. Hopefully we'll see a decent game and I'm sure the atmosphere will be enjoyable, although the German side might not have as many fans over as we'd have expected (high travel and hotel costs being the main reason). I've been over to Hamburg twice and attended one match at the Volksparkstadion (they lost 1-0 to Eintracht Frankfurt, who I'm really developing a dislike for). The people over there were very friendly, particularly in their own HSV fan bar a couple of stops from the stadium. Now the clubs have an official partnership it's good to finally get a friendly match. Here's hoping there's a return leg in Hamburg sometime soon.1 point

"Rangers FC is approaching an agreement with a new offer to release Danilo from Feyenoord. That reports the Algemeen Dagblad on Sunday evening. The Scottish record champion has made an ultimate offer to Feyenoord worth more than six million euros.”1 point

There are defo elements of this I agree with. After the recent debate on this forum over our supposed system I think it's fair to say there is some confusion over our style of play/system. Imo we are a little slack in terms of disipline, or maybe there are just to many players who are free to float for my taste. This must make covering much harder and leeds to slip ups, which we are prone to.1 point

For once in recent years, this window looks to be a good one 😉1 point

Must admit I’d like to see our new signings ( particularly the forwards we’ve signed) getting a few goals under their belts before the season starts1 point

I had a wee enforced lay off last season, but I really enjoyed being back at Ibrox today. Watching the UB's sing along with the Hamburg fans, and the "No Surrender, union flag" tifo was cool. As for the game, I thought a few Gers played well, with Souttar, Sakala, Dowell & Yilmaz standing out. I was also chuffed to see Lawrence & Roofe get some minutes. WATP1 point

Pretty sure Sakala has 2 years left, didn't he sign a 4 year deal on a Bosman 2 seasons ago? If anything I'd be looking to give him another couple of years on top if he can supplement the attack this season with 20+ g/a in rotation. Invaluable.1 point

Dujon Sterling would have had a half if he was fit1 point

I think Stirling would have come in if fit.1 point

I'll be honest if Souttar is better on the right side than the left I think there's a serious question as to who starts on that right side, Souttar is as just as good a passer and, imo, a better carrier and out and out defender. Goldson has credit in the bank but he isn't a stellar defender, just consistently solid. Souttar has a higher ceiling in terms of performance but might dip more than Goldson. Or is this all waffle?1 point

Makes the game look easy. I know it’s a cliche but defo applies here. picks passes in corridor’s so narrow he has no right to pass through1 point

I can't believe Rice is 16. He's taking the piss out there.1 point

If they play in their bare arses there's every possibility of bollocks being on display.1 point

It's all bollocks as far as I'm concerned they can play in their bare arses as long as they win1 point
