"A wife has been convicted of harassment after plaguing her husband with requests to come home from watching football and hounding her friends about his whereabouts." If ever there was an article on Gersnet to 'bookmark', it is this (although ah say so masel'). Wife convicted of harassment after calls to husband during football Joanne Healey rang the landline at his friends’ house 59 times in two hours new Peter Chappell Friday July 21 2023, 9.25am, The Times Law https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/wife-phone-call-husband-watching-football-harassment-2jpb2stl9 A wife has been convicted of harassment after plaguing her husband with requests to come home from watching football and hounding her friends about his whereabouts. Joanne Healey, 59, repeatedly called her spouse of 37 years, Steve, on his mobile as he was watching Chelsea play Manchester United on television, a court was told. When the former aerospace worker, 60, eventually refused to take her calls, Healey rang his friends John and Debbie Ashworth, leading to an argument during which she called them “paedophiles”. He went home when the match finished but his wife was later interviewed by police over the calls to the Ashworths’ home in Merseyside. It emerged that she had been drinking heavily at the time of the incident. In the days leading up to the football match, she was said to have been abusive to Mrs Ashworth over text messages, social media and calls. Mrs Ashworth blocked her but she began to receive numerous unwanted phone calls to her landline. On one occasion Mrs Healey was said to have phoned the house phone 59 times in the space of two hours. At Wirral magistrates’ court Healey pleaded guilty to harassment and was sentenced to a 12-month community order and fined £80. She must attend 20 days of rehabilitative activity with the probation service and pay £234 in costs and victim surcharge. A request for a restraining order made on behalf of Mrs Ashworth was rejected. Healey, from Rock Ferry, had no previous convictions. Her lawyer Rebecca Boswell said: “Although she likes a drink she is not dependent on alcohol. But she accepts that maybe when she has had a drink, maybe what she has bottled up comes out. “She has gone her whole life without coming before the court. I do not think this is where she envisaged herself being. She is currently undergoing further assessment in relation to arthritis, she is having X-rays on her hips and back and also blood tests. ”This is one occasion of telephone calls. This is someone who has come to court for the first time and is never to come back.” Sentencing, JP Mary Garvey told Healey: “It is unfortunate that you are in court today. The calls were persistent and prolonged but we are not going to place a restraining order on you because of the passage of time. It is over eight months and there have been no further incidents. “But it is a warning to you and a lesson to you and we hope that we do not see you before these courts again.”2 points

Big money these days I remember when we went for years with the same kit and played proper footie with the old T bladder. Look We should seek sponsorship from Barr's iron bru2 points

Having these three fully fit excites me more than any of the new signings. Hagi has the best feet at the club, Roofe is a great striker and Lawrence could be an awesome player for us. Had those three been fit last year we would have won the league imo.2 points

I am a huge Roofe fan. His wife and family have moved to Scotland now which shows a renewed commitment from him. Hopefully his surgery will ensure fewer injuries.2 points

I like all three to be fair but watching back the game v Newcastle the home top looks fantastic on the players, definitely my pick of the three and my pick of the Castore era so far. Purely in terms of aesthetics I think they've been a very good supplier but in terms of their actual supplying they aren't stellar.1 point

And yet many of them won't see the irony that they go to games and hold up flags with that colour on it....1 point

You know a person has an inferiority complex when something as simple as a colour can anger them.1 point

My idolatry of Rangers shirts came to an end when the crew neck replaced the Baxter V but this new striped number’s got it all. Add on the torment it will cause the foe and it’s win again. I bet the Cosgrove crew don’t sleep at night fretting about it.1 point

The only buying that matters when it comes to Roofe is if there's a club willing to take a gamble. It's unlikely, so he's probably going to be here for 2023/24.1 point

The strips sell big when first released, just prior to Christmas and whenever the discounts appear, so whether we win in it or not is largely irrelevant, in terms of money made. Obviously, I'm sure we'd all rather win the league in a shit strip (Helicopter Sunday) than lose it in a great strip (late 60s, early 80s).1 point

This is true. It just remains to be seen if this op has been a successful or not?. I think Roofe is a quality striker so I guess time will tell.1 point

Mate, you said that the reason Roofe is still here is because we couldnt find a buyer....I then say that isnt necessarily the case as Roofe is well liked by Beale... and you then say nobody is buying that, and also change the narrative to whether or not he is dependable. There is every chance he is still here because Beale likes him as a player (which he has stated plenty of times) - but if you are in the know with Beale and what his way of thinking is then I will bow to your greater knowledge......1 point

I have a face for radio and a voice for the deaf If I can help out I will1 point

Best finisher at the club, has fantastic movement and was brilliant during the 55 season scoring all type of goals.1 point

Yeah that would probably be workable! Just remember I have a face for radio 😃 Will look at getting an article submitted as well 👍1 point

I told you all he'd be first choice CB this season. I just got the wrong club...1 point

It's nice to see Rangers twitter get behind a strip release. Seems to be 100% in favour.1 point

And wasn't Roofe our top league scorer during 55 season?1 point

Once again, Rangers exhibit the cosmopolitan 'Open to All' nature of the club. Inspiration for the above came from the Vatican's Swiss Guard. I note ra Sellik launched their third strip at the start of the week, claiming inspiration from Glasgow's most active music scene. The top looks like a lava lamp. I suggested on another less Rangers favourable Scottish football forum that the the true inspiration was Jim Torbet's finger prints. Result, green'n'grey seethe.1 point

IF Roofe can stay fit for the whole season, he will make the biggest difference up front IMO. It’s a big IF though.1 point

He'll be as welcome as rotting fish but I expect he'll be a bigger thorn in their side that his predecessor.1 point
