  1. When news of this dispute between Rangers and the SPFL first came to light over the SPFL's determination to foist their Cinch deal on all members' clubs, allow me to remind Gersnetters of Michael Stewart's comments on Saturday's Sportsound on BBC Radio Scotland : "I do not like the way Rangers do things as a club. Neil Doncaster and Murdoch MacLennan, these are the good guys here". No one on the show challenged Stewart on that statement.

  2. As well as Michael Stewart's outrageous utterances on BBC Radio Scotland, I remember he took to his Twitter account to further expose himself. It was August'21 when I believe Michael was in the midst of his ten week employment at Sellik TV. Of course, he was also appearing twice/thrice weekly on BBC Radio Scotland and BBC Scotland Sportscene on TV. Anyways, Murdoch MacLennan being a BIG Sellik man and working for Dermot Desmond at his company, Independent News and Media(Ireland) lit a fire under Mikey and his Tweet was as follows : "Can anyone explain why Rangers arn't happy to comply with the SPFL title sponsorship"? Two things : 1. I hope today's findings explain everything to Michael? 2. I hope BBC Scotland discuss these events fully? I know they will not because Peter will tell them not to and, the vast majority of the staff will happily agree.

  3. Bailey Rice, Scotland youth team captain, excellent prospect and might just be the surprise player this season?.

  5. Making a profit on Colak would be superb, making our money back is also a good deal if the reported sum is euros. Sakala just cant be relied upon, the two open goal misses v them in the cup games last season was enough for me to move him on. £4 Million for a guy we got 2 decent seasons out of after signing on a bosman (albeit with a decent sign on fee for him and his agent no doubt). Its deals like that which are key to any player trading model. Not every player will be an Aribo or Bassey.

  6. The most important thing is to have people who have a real eye for a player. So many ex-pros just don’t really have it, and to an extent I’d say that applies to Gerrard. McCoist too. Celtic had a great window last year without a DoF because their manager had an eye for a player. We had an experienced DoF and had several consecutive poor windows.

  7. To sell Colak for £2.5m would be impressive business. Bought for around £2m (can't remember exactly) Scores the crucial goals for Champs League qualification Joint top scorer for the season Sell for a similar price he was bought for at 29years old Good business all round👏

  8. Sakala has only got a year left on his contract IIRC. If MB isn’t going to extend his contract now is the ideal time to move him one& get a fee for him

  9. Would it? I thought a sacking would be the result of him breaching his employment contact via gross negligence or similar and thus he’d be binned off with no additional pay. However I don’t think Celtic want him gone so he won’t go anywhere

  10. Let's hope these new guys will hit the ground running, remember the doubts about Lammers when we signed him? Loosing two strikers at once who know how to deal it out to Scottish teams is hopefully not come to haunt us, even though Sakala ain't gone just yet. Not sure whether Beale did not fancy Colak, he was not really fully fit when MB came in and this one-striker trash didn't help. But at least he was a solid man and had a healthy scoring record. Sakala's just Sakala. Bags of enthusiasm, always direct and never let a chance to hit the ball slip by him. Sure not the perfect player, but that's why he was / is at Rangers and not in the EPL, BL, France, Spain, or Italy. Maybe I have become used to far too much mediocre quality in years gone by (with regards to the standard we should attract), but I like Sakala. If these 4m are needed to finance the re-build and all sides are happy with that, so be it.

  11. Not a fan of Ridvan being in the second XI but still, another clean sheet. I'll link the article.

  12. I think we leave it as late as possible to screw the other media, other than our own, rightly so!

  13. If it's a choice between keeping him or selling him for £4m and bringing in Danilo then I'd go for the latter. From the little I know Danilo is an upgrade on Sakala.

  14. The DoF was still involved in the planning of these signings.

  15. I feel it's a bit soon to sell Sakala, so that probably means it's the perfect time.

  16. I think we're all getting mixed up between how we think a DoF-based recruitment model should word and how it is actually working.

  17. If that's really how it works then it hasn't worked very well. I think a small clue can be found by comparing the last two transfer windows with the two before that.

  18. I realise full well it has changed. What I'm saying is we need to move beyond that change - not back to where we were but to a refined structural relationship between the two roles. I would respectfully suggest you're in some danger of continuing to promote a new "old school" that clearly hasn't worked for us. You think I'm talking about division of power. I'm actually trying (poorly) to describe division of focus.

  20. Got a friendly with Hallescher FC (?) today apparently to cap off the week. I'll include their wiki page if anyone wants to have a brief look at the club, div 3 apparently and if anyone is into the history between West/East Germany then it might be a good quick read. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hallescher_FC

  21. I think they time it for max exposure on social media to drive hits, and that means roughly when more folk are finished work after 5pm

  22. I did not see much of Colak, but I don't think selling Sakala is a good idea. At least now. You have two new strikers, possibly 3. Sakala can play aß a single Striker, but was better playing right. Always active, direct and shot at every opportunity. I would keep him, at least for the Champions League qualification.

  23. I agree, but as I've argued before, I believe that our DoF doesn't have enough power in that situation. He leaves it to the manager too often, hence the hodgepodge of players we've signed by our managers. It's alright when it works (e.g. Ange), but it's not sustainable, for me. The ideal situation would be to have a DoF with a great eye for a player, and then let them get on with the recruitment, irrespective of temporary managers... IMO, of course.

  24. I would be happy with that fee for him. A decent player but it looks like he is not what the manager wants.

  25. If we can get any money for Sakala then that is great news. The reported four million would be out of this world. Probably not going to happen for that reason.
