Danilo an anagram of 'id loan',...just saying.5 points

Eddie Turnbull was a fantastic Gaffer, his Tornadoes side at the Hibees was a must see. A solid back four of Brownlie, Black, Blackley and, Schaedler. The midfield three of Stanton, Gardner and, O'Rourke had it all. Wide on either flanks were Duncan and Cropley, lots of pace. The two regulars that could have been replaced for better were the Keeper and, Alan Gordon. The player Eddie(former Royal Navy Chief Petty Officer)Turnbull told, "you are unfortunate son as all your brains are in your heid" was Tony Higgins. After Hibs, he spent several years at Thistle before taking up the reigns at the Players' Union.3 points

The markets have become ridiculous. The valuations are absurd. You either need a corporation, an amazing TV deal, or a crazy rich Asian to compete. This is just frustrating.3 points

Rangers have to turn a huge spotlight upon Murdoch MacLennan. Aka Shifty McGifty, long term dealings with Dermot Desmond - he is/was Chair of Dublin based Independent News and Media, a company owned by Desmond. MacLennan and Doncasters positions at the SPFL have been untenable for a long time. We have to thank RAB Cosgrove at his garrulous best for giving us an insight into the depth of hatred. RAB always likes folks to know he was on the inside of decisions; he told of Murdoch MacLennan's chauffeured car picking him up each day and giving him a lift back to his gaff in the Elephant and Castle. According to RAB, this went on for three years, Murdoch(then a high heid yin at the Telegraph) and he(then a working Journo at the NME) would talk Scottish football on the 30 minute journey home. Four-five years past a giggling guest inquired what word both RAB and MacLennan used when discussing Rangers and Rangers supporters on these journeys? RAB did NOT answer and has NEVER referred to these car conversations again.2 points

I think there needs to be a change in the remit of 'managers'. Many see themselves as old-school managers - when they had absolute power - when it's not really like that now.2 points

Whilst it seems that I am defending our pursuit of Dessers, I actually am not - more that I am defending the process or balance between experience and spending money. ALL of the strikers we have been linked with underwhelm me - so I am definitely hoping I am VERY wrong !2 points

The English are complaining about the Saudis coming in and taking all the best players in their prime.... It is extreme hypocrisy - the English did the EXACT same thing when the Sky money came rolling into England. They are all crying now because all of a sudden there is competition1 point

Think we will need to see Ben Davies move before we get a LCB in.1 point

Thought I'd link this article on Danilo and Sima, interesting line at the end suggesting we could have a buy option. Bring in Sima and a another striker (Danilo/Dessers e.g) and its starting to look better. Honestly though left centre back is a big issue for me. Anyways, Chris Jack is reliable. I'd like it if The Athletic signed him up seeing as Campbell has gone although I think that was just for 'balance' in terms of reporting on the OF clubs. Load of bull***t but hey ho.1 point

Or just that typical "modern football business" model. Buy cheap and sell high. But 7m looks rather high, even €.1 point

Personally I don't understand the fuss about Saudi Arabia doing what English clubs have been doing for years1 point

I've just read the responses. Delighted with Danilo but concerned about Lammers, when the latter has a better goal record in the Netherlands! Apparently the source is tier 1 for Feyenoord. Romano follows them.1 point

They signed him on a free last summer, and he's contracted till 2026. Good league, good club, long contract, hence the fee. His stats are fine.1 point

It does me good to see Rangers so determined to maintain some pressure on the SPFL. I just hope the compensation awarded is significant - enough to embarrass the rest of the league as they see their money going to Rangers because of the incompetence of Doncaster's mob.1 point

This is a sentiment I agree with. I find myself hoping that Roofe is and can rmain fit as he is a much better player than any we have been linked too.1 point

I'm not a US sports fan, so forgive my ignorance, but they don't really do relegation, do they,?. I went to baseball twice, only went the second time because I thought it couldn't be as dull as it was the first time....1 point

New to you, maybe? There is a button at the top right of every page that you can click to 'mark the site as read', so you can start over and the new topics will be actually new, as they will be in bold font. You can click the dot or star at the left of the topic to take you to the latest unread post. You can always flick through the older topics, reading any that take your fancy. Generally, it's only the first page that is 'active'.1 point

Just look at the date of the last post. The new topics will be on the first page - just scroll past the sub-forums, because they don't get used much.1 point

Our previous DoF also was, latterly (and I say this as someone who thought he had initially done some excellent work) a failure at working to our desired model. I think he brought in some excellent players, I stand by that - but last summer was largely unsuccessful and he also kept the invincibles squad together too long. The DoF is great... if he is a great DoF. Wilson was both good and bad for us - but in the last two seasons our transfer policy was poor. I would say that it depends on the DoF when it comes to recruitment - I agree with you, but if you have a DoF who cant spot a player that can fit club philosophy then it won't work out. Could easily be argued that the scouting department is even more important than the DoF1 point
-
Phew, lol You simply can't have a joint-up approach when we dont even have a DoF in place. And, I would argue, that it makes sense to take your time in making that appointment because the right appointment can springboard you to success but the wrong appointment and we go years behind Celtic again. The club are clearly trying to fill this position but, IMHO, correctly taking their time. I would be asking Davie Weir...... However, whilst we don't have one, the best person to rely on is the manager - who else is there that can be relied upon for the footballing strategy until we appoint a DoF ? I am not disagreeing with you on the need for a DoF. However, either way you look at it, be it Colak or anyone else, if a manager doesnt like a player then they simply don't play them - if a DoF forces a player upon a manager AND forces the manager to then play them.... that is a recipe for even bigger disaster than not having a DoF.1 point

They had to buy quite a bit of land adjacent and around the old stadium. They somehow even managed to get a compulsory purchase put in place on a decent sized steel fabricating business nearby, how they got that through I'll never know. The new stadium is adjacent to the old one and does overlap, but it's not exactly in the same place, a bit like us building a new stadium on the site of the Ibrox primary school across Edmiston Drive.1 point

Where does Tam the Token turn next? It would appear a line by Tom English in a preparation for Brendan's return has had ra Sellik issuing banning orders. Apparently, Tom referred to, "the shameless one". An even bigger Sellik man suffered the same fate yesterday, Peter(McGuire)Martin of PLZ Soccer was NOT allowed entry either. Again, in the period of speculation before appointment, Peter Martin wrote, "Some people have short memories. Player revolt, tedious football, European humiliation and, a man declaring his love whilst working his ticket out of the club". The one time self-styled, 'Biggest Tim in Newarthill' sets up his own Sellik fanzine, fills it with fellow Yahoos and, uses every broadcast minute as a Sellik celebration; Big Peter L says NO? Back in his Radio Snyde days, Peter Martin took over from former Sellik PRO, Paul Cooney. During Gordon Strachan's tenure he became most encouraged with his team's progression to the CL knock-out stages. Similarly, with Lennon in his first spell. He pleaded with the Board to release the necessary funds to make ra Sellik a player on the BIG stage. It was a masturbatory exercise - you know world wide support, a passion unsurpassed, the electricity of ra Stade de Gadd, .......... etc. Peter was becoming a pest. Big P summoned Peter and administered the necessary punishment. Radio Snyde were denied commentary at the next home Euro evening. Peter Martin had to sit upon a comfy cushion in the Snyde studios with James Grady, drinking wine watching their heroes on telly being filleted at the Stydome by AC Milan and Barca' on both occasions. The message from BIG P is clear, there will be NO deviation from the given brief. Peter Martin and Tom English are a couple of House Paddies, they will bitch and moan to fellow Yahoos but ultimately do what is required to get on BIG P's good side. PQ is already suggesting a sycophantic apology and an offer of compensation. Tam the Token works for both BBC Scotland and PLZ Soccer, what does he do if his fellow Journos decide to boycott Sellik Park in a show of solidarity with yesterday's unjust treatment by ra Sellik? Remember Tam, there are the school fees, the big hoose in Jordanhill, the various Bookie accounts and, the school fees. A wee reminder at this point - Rangers did not ban Chris McLaughlin, he had his press privileges withdrawn after numerous warnings. Fellow Journos at BBC Scotland decided to boycott Ibrox in sympathy and for the next five years, Rangers supporters paying their license fees received next to no coverage of their club.1 point

The cost of building a 'new' Ibrox is worth investigating, the Copland, Broomloan and Govan are over 40 years old now even if there have been changes to each over that time. Everton have estimated £500 million for their proposed new stadium. Spurs apparently spent around £1 billion on their ground. Brentford built a new stadium for £71 million. Some fairly big differences in costs there. I suspect we'd want to keep the Main Stand, so it's a 3 sided bowl or similar we'd be looking at. We wouldn't need to buy land, unlike Spurs and Everton, so that's a saving right away. We'd clearly need to borrow the money for the project, and if we assume the 'new' Ibrox would have a higher capacity and more corporate boxes to pay for the build. If we needed £250 million then in simple terms we'd be looking for £10million a season plus interest over 25 years. Not impossible if we add another 10,000 seats plus more hospitality. The danger is that the initial cost grows. That happened when we rebuilt back in the late 70s and it had a huge effect on the quality of the team on the park. Match day revenue continues to be our most important source of income, so investigating how to increase that makes a lot of sense.1 point
