Interest from AC Milan and Juventus for Bologna's Lewis Ferguson. I always felt it was ridiculous Rangers didn't try to sign him but apparently he "wasn't good enough".9 points

I think I've got this. Sam Lammers uncle was correct. Rembrant was a very amateurish painter who tried to make a living from The Dutch Masters past reputation. In 2019, the Dutch FA commemorated the 350th anniversary of the real Rembrandt's death by introducing a special football to be used in all League games. The ball portrayed images of the great man and a selection of his famous works. Now. Rembrandt was also the common nickname given to Johan Cruyff, the legendary Dutch footballer of Ajax due to his footballing artistry. Cruyff, by choice, also favoured the No 14 on the back of his shirts. Many Dutch players since have also favoured the No 14 shirt. One such example is our own Ronald de Boer who wore the number with pride on his Rangers shirt and thrilled us all with his artistry and goals aplenty. A new Dutch signing now awaits his opportunity to delight us . His name? Sam Lammers. His number? 14. Well I'll be a Dutchman's uncle. 😬5 points

So our signing policy should be based on whether a player's uncle talks drivel? Jesus wept.4 points

One problem we have with buying players from the likes of Aberdeen and Hibs is they'll charge us more. I didn't want Ferguson, mainly because of the utter drivel his dad and uncle spout via Scotland’s tabloid media. The whole family can sod off, as far as I'm concerned.4 points

I couldn't give fuck if his uncle was the pope, as long as long as he does the business.3 points

Wrong colour. And too easily smashed and put on toast.3 points

Can anyone tell me the connection between Rembrant or Cruyff and Rangers? I'm on tenterhooks... 🤣2 points

While I ate my lunch this afternoon I watched Jude Bellingham's first Real Madrid press conference. At seven minutes thirty this young pro talks about the benefit of playing with mature pros from a young age. If your good enough your old enough. Rangers and a lot of supporters seem to think young players need nurturing/molly codling, a slow introduction to the first team. I disagree. Many truely great players got thrown in at the big boy end and thrived. I will attach the video for your perusal.2 points

Patterson had the ability to have played a lot more for us, and would have had he not been up against the club captain. I'd like to think that Gilmour would have played a lot had he stayed. Lowry was unlucky to an extent last season with injuries and personal issues, and also the loan of Tillman. It's make or break for him next season. Hopefully he's learned a lot from Cantwell and can have his application.2 points

He was 100% good enough when he was leaving Hamilton nevermind Aberdeen. Absolute madness. You get the usual crowd saying hes not good enough and people only look at him because of his name. Sure AC Milan and Juve are looking at him because his dad and uncle were good players. Only issue is Aberdeen would have probably charged us a premium or made it difficult to do business with us.2 points
-
At nineteen Alex Lowry could have & should have played a hell of lot more first team football by now for me. It's not like he is trying to break through into the quality of team Barry Ferguson did.2 points

He's only a "class apart" because he got on the park to show it.2 points

Ferguson never impressed me that much when he was at Aberdeen. He didn't represent good value for money, but the fact that he seems to be flourishing in Italy suggests that I either missed his good games or I'm not as good a judge of a player as I thought I was. Probably a bit of both.1 point

When the ex-players, who are close relatives of the player in question, are constantly spouting garbage in the papers? Aberdeen would've ripped us off to sign Ferguson. Rangers managers weren't interested or were interested but were put off for whatever reason and his close relatives aren't to be trusted with inside info. You lot can whine and moan all you like but I, for one, am glad he's nowhere near our club. We can't afford him now, so it's an irrelevance.1 point

Almost as bizarre as correlating the opinions of ex-players and your clubs transfer business.1 point

I must admit I'm coming round to that conclusion myself. I've tried to see the value of it but nothing obvious comes to mind. However, I don't agree with you on the women's team. I probably would have a couple of years ago but times have changed and are going to keep changing. I feel Rangers needs to be on board with the women's game.1 point

What a weird comment. You do know that Sam Lammars uncle once stated that Rembrant was an amateur and Johan Cruyff was overrated. Get him to f**k based on your logic.1 point
-
You wouldn't think it the way most are coddled. If the club were honest about those players who could make the first team, we wouldn't have enough to field a team. I am a huge proponent of just scrapping the whole 'youth' thing. ..and the women's team for that matter. Efficiency.1 point

If an 18 year old qualifies for USAF/CCT there ain't nothin on any soccer field, anywhere in this world that could possibly be tougher than that. Young men do it every year. If a young airman of 18-19 can run tactical control on a forward LZ, under fire...I'm sure they can kick a ball. Wipe their ass, and get em out there.1 point

The management team will watch him every day in training and their jobs rely on Rangers winning. They'll pick what they think is the best team. There were rumours about him having a poor attitude.1 point

It's a brave manager who will blood youngsters and keep them in the side ahead of experience and investments that the club have made, it's just the nature of it. I fully believe you could plug Lowry, Devine or King into this team singularly and they'd do fine..some stellar performances and some bad ones, which has been the case for both Devine and King. If we can't do that then flip them for profit and give them careers as professionals, it's a good reflection of the academy and we can be proud of it and them.1 point

Did you read the whole post, Bill? It should be based on uncles and dads talking drivel. 😃1 point

Great post @Graeme Ro55. A certain Derek Johnstone comes immediately to mind. Jock Wallace knew.1 point

To be fair, Bellingham is a class apart. We haven't produced any great players since Barry Ferguson and Allen McGregor. And at Rangers, every defeat is a crisis - it's not like other clubs.1 point

Hope so Lundstram was garbage last season and we didn't get much return from guys in the last year of their deal. Not everyone is like Connor Goldson. Jacks just a complete gamble, might play 40 games and boss them, might play 15 and never get fully match fit.1 point
-
My bet is that with so many new players we will need all the old heads we can muster. Jack and Lundstram will both play a valuable role this coming season.1 point
-
Didn't Jack sign a 1 year contract extension? Can see him leaving this time next year. Lundstram was arguably our most consistent player at the back end of the season and MB rates him. Can't see him leaving unless a mental offer comes in.1 point

My x-D (expected denial) may be high, but I'm seeing shades of Ancelotti's Milan: X [Shevchenko] - Lammers [Inzaghi] Hagi \ Dowell [Kaka] Jack [Gattuso] - Raskin [Pirlo] - Cantwell [Seedorf] Yilmaz [Jankolowski] - Stirling [Maldini] - Goldson [Nesta] - Tavernier [Cafu] Butland [Dida] We just need a Shevchenko, and a dirty b*stard to cover for when Jack gets injured...1 point

4lads saying yesterday that Lammers was over here finalising the deal and H&H today saying that it should be done by the weekend. Not arsed what people think about them but they're usually pretty concrete with what they get/say. Another striker with Lammers and a left centre back is a big priority for me, on top of that a good young utility forward would be ideal as well..add in Cifuentes and that's the bones of a good rebuild - after that it's a case of player sales and finding replacements although I still think the squad needs trimming.1 point

Simply because he cannot find whoever whoever is. If I was whoever I'd buy shares direct from the Club and strengthen the balance sheet as opposed to Kings bank account, I don't think I have copyright on that line of thinking.1 point
