Imo the fella Cifuentes gets away with 4 or 5 tackles in that video he would never get away with over here.3 points

Claudio Reyna was pretty decent, although I don't think we signed him straight from the US. i always thought that the club failed to even try to capitalise commercially on having Captain (of) America on the park. Maybe the current pursuit of Americans, or American League players, relates to that: it will help us sell tops in Toledo, sweaters in Sweewater, kits in Kansas, bunnets in Boston (well, maybe not that one)......3 points

found it... I rather enjoy the irony about cake in there.....3 points

Kent would probably have super-cool stats in this MLS thing. As for Cooper and McCann ... they were wingers in a 4-4-2 and asked to deliver flanks, crosses, corner kicks and wicked free-kicks. The thing with Kent (or anyone else not a playing central striker) in a 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, or however they are lined up nowadays is: they need to provide assists and goals constantly and against anyone. If they don't, they don't fit that role any longer. No-one ever questioned Kent's work-rate and effort, only that the end product was failing him far too often. We never addressed this properly, or changed our line up against brick-wall side with even more defenders lined up against our score-shy "attackers".3 points

Pretty sure Kris 'less goals against sellik than Sakala' Boyd played for Portland Timbers?.3 points

Have we ever signed a good player from the American league? Edu scored a memorable and very enjoyable goal but he was pretty average apart from that. Sands was ordinary, not the worst but not nothing special. The least said about Matt Polster the better. I'm surprised we're shopping there, it's a league that Lewis Morgan looks like a world beater in.2 points

My first impression was ... strong. Should collect at least three red cards by Xmas.2 points

Well, your argument kinda works...until you consider that this is an M L SOCCER website. Games are still 90 minutes. Good try, and your genuine distaste of the US has been noted...again. Anyone who claims that stats are the end all be all is as much a fool as the person who completely disregards them. They are to be considered as they are a reflection of real actions and interactions. A way to hopefully understand what cannot be viewed in real time. That is all.2 points

This sounds positive and I'm really pleased FS appears happy as he clearly knows a lot more about what's needed than most of us.2 points

It's actually a lot better than what I expected we'd get. Due credit must be given to the Board for the way they eventually approached this issue, they basically ripped up everything that had previously been done and started afresh. The stumbling block over the years was always the reduction of capacity and ongoing associated loss of revenue not only have they mitigated this the have increased the capacity and ergo associated income. Cantilevers had been looked at before and the assumption always was they weren't practical on the Broomloan and Copland as they are a different design and construction to the Govan but obviously that has changed as time has moved on and construction techniques advanced.2 points

Didn't know James was a Morrissey fan.... If James can emulate his success within the Commercial Department then he'll do a fantastic job.2 points

I can imagine the question Club1872 put to Bennett. 1. As the official Dave King go-between we are extremely important people so why have you been ignoring us? 2. Will you promise not to ignore us in future? 3. Can you stop diluting our shareholding please? 4. When do we get a seat on the board? 5. OK then can we have a turnstile named after Club1872?1 point

Watching the vid on Jose Cifuentes accompanied by the usual dodgy music that accompanies these types of vid, so i decided to watch using my own choice of music , and discovered that if you play 'The Best' by Tina Turner , he looks like a world beater, whereas the Benny Hill theme .. well .1 point

Only taken them about 23 years. This is long long long, overdue. This has been a personal bugbear of mine for an age. Even during the Green and White nonsense I was asking the bloggers to spare a moment to raise the issue facing disabled fans but they were too busy pretending to be ninjas and musketeers in the know. Delighted to hear that the disabled fans are getting the respect they deserve. Long overdue.1 point

Indeed. The 'man in the street' never got a team relegated.1 point

We have blokes with coaching degrees and sports science certificates looking at potential signings, so it's always good to get the opinions of the man on the street too.1 point

It's an entire league of vomit inducing shitlibs. Every lefty, whacko, freak cause...disgusting. ...aaanywho... Cifuentes. American sports league websites are great for stats though. I forgot how good they are. Stats for stats. He kinda strikes me as just meh TBH. José Cifuentes | Los Angeles Football Club (lafc.com)1 point

If Sakala would only make a pilgrimage to the Shankill and sing the Sash on YouTube he would be lionised like no other and no one would call for him to leave.1 point

That was a very good listen. On the face of it, it looks like he brings fresh ideas, initiative and enthusiasm to the role.1 point
