For me Fashion usually more than makes up for his brain farts. Fell over the ball at one point last night. But he scored one, set up two and that's off the left, playing with four different offensive players to those he linked with off the right while causing havoc at Tynecastle. This ability to link up straight away with anyone - to read any team mate's game - is vastly overlooked (perhaps because of his frequent inability to judge an offside run!). But, when you also remember his part in Borna's Cup winner in Perth, and add it to him totally turning round the OF game at Ibrox after half-time on 2nd Jan, it seems like the spectacularly comical mistake Fashion is guaranteed to make in every game will usually be vastly over-compensated by everything he does right. His rick in the League Cup final wasn't over-compensated on the day. He'll be judged on that until he wins another trophy with us. But even in that game he was just doing what he usualy does; fitting in perfectly with his team-mates.7 points

We need a player that runs at defenders, always unpredictable and we have this in Sakala. I love the guy, he reminds of the tinman, what chance does a defender have at reading his play when he doesn't know himself what he's about to do.? Frustrating at times but unless we can sign a better player then he is a starter every match for me.5 points

I watched the game again this morning and was surprised how much Ryan Kent was actually involved in. I came away with a much better impression of his contribution than I'd originally thought.4 points

I think its a balance between unfashionable (lol) players like Sakala who just produce output and more cultured players who are great to watch but struggle to have that cutting edge. I think having different options is great and will benefit the squad. Throw the likes of Tillman, Hagi and Matondo (I still think he can come good..) and we have some good options to support Colak/Morelos/an other #9. FWIW Raskin and Cantwell have come in to the midfield as completely different players to what we already had(and i dont mean injured) and have added that variety to the midfield. I think the manager will want to pick different types of players for different games. So options are important.4 points

I thought Kent had an excellent game. Fashion causes so much trouble for defenders with his pace, he is also good at chasing back, his nuisance value keeps him his place in the team, for now!. I've said before if he took half the chances he gets he would be a superstar. He needs to keep playing to keep his best form.3 points

So do winning Penalties. I know what you mean though but feel he has improved 10 fold under Beale and looks to be enjoying his football again.3 points

I thought your tweet questioning whether he was good enough was harsh. He's not the most technical, but I think he has a useful skill set: quick, energetic, combative, good stamina and likes to shoot. A large part of his recent form is because he's playing more centrally as part of a front-two, but with the freedom to drift to find space. His most effective period for Oostende was playing from the left as an inside-forward. I think we've finally found a suitable role for his skill set: the 4-diamond-2 needs mobile forwards, or at least one, to stretch the play, opening up space in the pockets. He was too often playing wide - touchline-hugging wide - which negates his strengths and emphasises his weaknesses.3 points

There no doubt that under Michael Beale, Fashion Sakala has become a really useful player - providing a threat in attack with his pace and unpredictability - and converting that into the creation of chances and goals. At times he looks like he's never seen a football before but that unpredictability seems to increase his threat. He falls over the ball one minute, then creates or scores a goal the next. Is he really good enough though? I think many would take that view that he's best used as an impact player/sub but the argument may be that he needs to play regularly to get the very best out of him. Use him sparingly and he's less effective. Start him often and he will contribute goals outside of his foibles. It's fascinating how someone like Kent - an undoubtedly more skilful player - doesn't seem able to contribute the same numbers but Sakala - so clumsy and inconsistent - usually always does something of note. For example, if we were to choose between him and renewing Ryan Kent's contract, how would you vote? Kent, whilst arguably more skilful, can flatter to deceive and actual stats appear poorer. But is he a better, all-round option? Or are we just Sakala snobs?2 points

Between Jack and Sakala, but Sakala wins it for the goal contributions. We always dominate possession but find it hard to either create chances or convert the chances so he's been the difference for me. He caused their defence havoc last night and the composure/intelligence he showed to slot away the third goal should not be underestimated.2 points

Sakala has improved a lot under Beale. He seems more aware now of being onside, so he must be paying attention in training, which is always a good thing. If only the coaching staff could get him to be more aware of when his team mates are in a better position to pass to rather than blast the ball. His energy and enthusiasm are good to watch. at the moment he must rate as a sure starter.2 points

Very similar to the Hearts game, could and should have been more. Just keep it going!2 points

One good game every couple of months doesn't warrant a contract renewal for Jack. I wish we could get rid of the vast majority of this squad.2 points

Really was a good all round performance last night. A poor start but that seem to inspire us into a display of passion, hard work and tempo - all too often this season. We've won a watch with Cantwell who has surprised me with his work off the ball. He's very slight but isn't afraid to get stuck in and looks like he could be useful in deeper or forward areas. I would like to see more of the latter but he's working well as a slightly more offensive 8 at the moment. Raskin is also really useful: always looking to move the ball quickly and directly but usually positionally sound as well. He perhaps does switch off now and again in defensive areas but I think that will improve. He and Jack certainly work well together. Thought Barisic was again outstanding last night. It's not going to be easy for Yilmaz to get into the side. All things considered, a positive evening but this has to be the normal standard; not the exception to the rule.2 points

Harsh but also fair I think as he can be technically awful at times. However, there's also no doubt he's contributing well and deserves a lot of praise for his self-belief in particular. There will be times where I think he'd be the wrong choice in certain games but as long as he creates and scores then he has to be a genuine first choice player - whether that be instead of or alongside Kent.2 points

I'm still amazed that so many wanted Jack punted. For me, he's still our best (deep-lying) midfielder. (I know he's injured for spells, but he still appears for 25-30 games a season.)2 points

Sakala has been excellent recently and has contributed. Thought Kent was outstanding last night in a kind of free role behind Colak. Jack and Kent were at the heart of most of our good stuff of which there was plenty!2 points

If the lads playing well keep him in the starting eleven it’s not rocket science.2 points

My understanding is his only game under Struth was a benefit match for Bert Manderson. My very amateur checking suggested that match was in August and Struth took over in May. However, I could easily be wrong, I'm no expert.2 points

So many good performances. We lacked cutting edge as usual, and still scored 4. Cantwell is just a joy to watch. He’s just a totally different type of player to what we had before and exactly what we needed in this league.2 points

Apart from the sloppy goal we lost, I thought the game was almost a carbon copy of our recent Tynecastle victory. Lots of slick passing and moving, lots of chances created but not enough them converted. That could and should have been 7 or 8 tonight.2 points

Always nice to stuff Hibs. Wee bit disappointed we strolled it after the fourth - should've gone for more.2 points

Celtc FC can beat the lot. They've employed at least one convicted paedophile in every decade since the 1950s (at least).2 points

I might be out by one but out of 13 games since New Year I make it that Jack has started 8 games and made a further 3 appearances as sub. He was on the bench but not used in one other game and only missed a single game at Livingston. Which are hardly the stats of someone widely regarded as a cripple.1 point

I've checked too and would say you're spot on. 30th Aug 1920, 2-1 win v bheasts. Gordon listed as no 8. No other appearance recorded that season. Well done.1 point

Jack is one of our most consistent performers, in a good way. If we think he is fit enough to keep playing to this level then I think we should be trying to keep him on.1 point

If he can prove his fitness between now and May, Jack should be given a new contract, no doubt about it but we need to have more strength in depth there. I think Gilmour would be the ideal signing to compete for that role alongside Jack.1 point

He was very impressive last night. He was really mobile, was coming deep for the ball and dragged defenders all over the place. He managed to find space in the box when surrounded by Hibs players. He is also an excellent finisher. Morelos will be warming the bench if he keeps this up.1 point

I'm not saying we would have won the cup but I'm sure if he played Cantwell and Raskin ,we would have gave them a FAR better game ?1 point

What madness compelled Beale to leave out that midfield in the Cup?1 point

It's been coming for a few weeks but that was the Ryan Jack we've been waiting for. I thought he was outstanding, imperious at times. Beale was so right to keep feeding him minutes. To the extent it's possible, Beale must keep at least two of this midfield three in the starting line up. I thought the big difference tonight was the sheer work rate and positivity throughout the team. If only we had taken that team and attitude to Hampden ten days ago ......1 point

With Jack, Raskin and Cantwell marshaling the midfield and Kent given the free role, we played some wonderful football. Fashion may not be everyone's cup of tea but in games like these his pace and directness stretch teams and he is a great outlet. If only he could bring composure to his game (as he did for his goal). I may have to take what I said about Colak back, he may be able to fir into MBs style and system and there is no doubting he knows the way to goal. Jack got RTV MoTM but it could have gone to one of five or six players. Also shout out to the traveling support who played their part.1 point

I haven't seen that level of fluidity from us for a long time, even in the games we have done well this season. It clicked, Jack completely dominated play with Cantwell and Raskin. Kent brilliant, but still beating himself in the end at times. Sakala was magnificent and forming a great partnership with Colak, and thank god Colak is back! However, we need to keep this up. The title may be out of reach now as that mob just can't stop winning, but if we can find the same intensity and desire each game I'd like to think we'll take some points from them and make them sweat to the end.1 point

It's something that we have to invest in. It's growing and will continue to grow, emphasised by the fact that Sky are showing women's football on Wednesday rather than our game. We can't allow them to have a free reign. Some of our future support will come through interest in woman's football. I've got virtually no interest in it either but it would be short-sighted to bin it now.1 point

"Balance"? "Balance" is the new buzz word at PQ. RAB Cosgrove was taunting listeners with it, "Bobby Bluebell of the Bluebells is in the studio today, since this is the BBC and we must have balance we have two members of the band, Tide Lines who support Rangers". Bobby aka Robert Hodgens is the tall, long haired speccy frontman from the 80s/90s beat combo, the Bluebells. Robert laments their choice of name, "the grief we've had over the years". Bobby is just another long term Sellik supporting mate of RAB's. He told us during lockdown, "ah miss my regular coffees with Bobby Bluebell". RAB had Rangers supporting mates too; three of them but after 2012 they accepted Rangers are not the same club and gave up their season tickets. Balance allows for fantasy on a number of levels. Bobby, like so many other long term green'n'grey hooped horrors, is in with the PQ bricks. Regularly, Bobby is credited with providing ambient tones on documentaries, nature shows and, dramas. The creation of BBC Scotland's second channel has been very good financial news for RAB's fellow travellers. Thus, Bobby leaving one PQ studio to sit beside RAB in another with two other guys off the street is presented as, "Balance". Why doesn't RAB do the full Rangers Tax Case Blog nostalgia and get on Bobby's former bandmate, Lawrence Donegan? Of course, RAB has pleaded live on air for Rangers supporters to forget all about the Rangers Tax Case Blog on several occasions; however, at the weekend, he continues to bang on about succulent lamb and Jim Traynor. There's RAB's idea of balance. The Producers are always in on the jokes, they do not call in pretending to be Hearts supporters from Newton Mearns anymore to lambast Rangers; no that type of balance is now a no-no at Auntie Beeb. Prompting Tam the Token to read out an e-mail from Dave Ross hail hailing from the Admiral Bar in Bothwell Street is another type of balance. Dave Ross is one of a triumvirate owning the Admiral Bar, the other two names retreat into the shadows. The pub is closing because the building containing the Howf is being redeveloped. All RAB's long term BIG Sellik supporting mates have taken to their newspaper and fanzine(the National) columns to lament the bar's passing. Downstairs at the Admiral quickly became thePQ in-crowd Gang Hut. Phil McFournames held monthly briefings to packed breathless audiences. Kevin McKenna's column for the Herald and National was meeting in the pub with Gerry Braiden and Monsignor Tom Connolly(Scottish RC Press Officer) where he described the impending closure, "as akin to the death in the family". "Balance" echoed into Sunday, BIG Dick hosted the Final coverage where he introduced Pat Bonner then, "we require balance and Neil McCann is here too". Throw in Wullie Miller and Liam McLeod, you have the usual AberTic production. I was listening as the TIFO displays were revealed, Big Dick described the Rangers supporters offering as a crest and a capped supporter. He proclaimed he had no idea reference the Green Brigade's contribution? It was a depictation of a white phoenix arising from the flames ie, "out of the ashes arose the Provisionals". In a week where the IRA attempted to murder a serving Police Officer during a football coaching session, BIG Dick pleads ignorance and Pat cannot inform him and, all those Producers who stood downstairs in the Admiral cannot help him either? This must be the New Balance? If it fits, wear it with pride. PQ continually praise the actions of the Green Brigade, only last week RAB was in throes of excitement over their Douglas Ross banner. "Balance" must involve Chris McLaughlin, he reported on the nine O'Clock Sunday morning clashed between the Green Brigade and the Union Bears. Chris brought more new balance to the story in that he omitted Police Scotland had allocated Saturday to the GB to lay out their latest homage to the Provos and, the UB were given Sunday morning. Why the GB were marching down past the Rangers end at such a Sunday morning hour was not explained. I agree with the rest of Chris McLaughlin's sentiment in that Police Scotland will seek evidence to arrest all involved. Of course, the Balance comes at the Procreator Fiscal's office; remember, they have loads of previous for losing evidence against the Green Brigade? PQ Balance - it makes you feel quite dizzy.1 point
