I'd be more impressed with the article if it was written before the cup final. It's easy to have a go when the club is down and some fans are having a hysterical reaction.9 points

I would say getting business done early is equally important. Getting players in towards the end of the window means a delay in getting them into the team. Must do better on that front.3 points

I don't disagree but if they can reach that level then we should be aspiring to as well. I think the difference in attitude from game to game between the two sides is fairly stark at the moment. I'd be interested to see what happened if some pressure was applied to them but we can't argue with the winning consistency they've achieved. Until the Aussie leaves, I don't see that changing. In the meantime, whilst our style of play is different, our application should not be. Postecoglou doesn't seem to tolerate poor performance and attitude whilst we excuse it. That's the biggest difference in the last two years in my view.3 points

I think its probably worth mentioning, no matter how unpalatable, how much Celtics record this season (and last to some extent) is maybe skewing our perspective on performance. Sure, winning is everything. But they are on course for a record 107 points i believe. I cant recall a period in Scottish football where one team has been winning so consistently. We could quite easily beat them twice and see them lose to one of the other teams and still not win the league. Perhaps taking a more aloof perspective and continuing with small improvements year on year (and I'll not go into specifics arguing the point about what these are, but lets say financials for the sake of it) is still progress. Dont get me wrong we can still improve a lot in many areas but lets not chuck the baby out with the bathwater because of an unprecedented level of domestic results across the city.3 points

Over the last 2 years, we've made losses of £25m compared to Celtic's £6.8m. Extend that to the last 4 years and we've made losses of £53.8m compared to Celtic's profit of £1.6m At the end of June, we had £13m of cash and they had £31.9m.3 points

In my opinion there’s been a gross over reaction to the cup final defeat. You’d have thought we’d been humped 5-0 or something but the Scottish media always like to try & create a Rangers crisis And FWIW I thought MB was correct not starting Raskin & Cantwell in the final. Both lacked recent game time before joining Rangers. I do believe we need to wait until we see who goes & who comes in this summer before we start to assess MB.3 points

I still can't get my head around Beale's decision in an all-or-nothing cup final to leave out the two players he specifically signed to strengthen a midfield he's been standing on the touchline watching underperform week after week. If only Beale had come out after the game and said "Guys, I fucked up, I made a huge mistake and I'm sorry" then I could start to lose this gnawing suspicion that we're still on the same old rollercoaster to nowhere.3 points

Folks, I spent a fair bit of time writing this article and whilst it's generally simplistic stuff just to provoke a wee bit of debate, I'd rather the thread wasn't spoiled with inane mischief-making. If you have a point, please make it in good time and desist from the personal crap. Thanks!2 points

It's something that we have to invest in. It's growing and will continue to grow, emphasised by the fact that Sky are showing women's football on Wednesday rather than our game. We can't allow them to have a free reign. Some of our future support will come through interest in woman's football. I've got virtually no interest in it either but it would be short-sighted to bin it now.2 points

I just can’t get past this with Kent. Goals are too important to just sacrifice in his position. It’s like settling for a defender with a lot of qualities but who’s poor in the air. It’s an Achilles heel, not something we can just accommodate for.2 points

Cantwell by the length of Sauchiehall Street. Leaving him and Raskin out last week is the worst decision by a Rangers manager since Murty thought a headstand was a good look.2 points

I wonder what revenue is derived from the women’s operation. If there’s any sort of deficit, it’s not worth having. Everything the club does should be in support of the first eleven.2 points

We’re watching the carcass of the 55 squad rot and fester in front of our eyes. Far too many under achievers that we held on to for far too long. No point in picking over the bones but it rips my gut that those in charge can’t see what’s in front of their eyes. Malmö for me was the watershed moment when I realised that we were in trouble. Laid bare that our squad was inadequate for the challenges ahead. Astounding that after two years were still in the same place.1 point

They go three up they think it's job done that second half was tripe the other mob play attack attack attack we only have to look at the goal difference.1 point

I'm sure I read Rangers agreed to the four home games on Sky limit. It's also Champions League night on Wednesday and broadcasters have to pay a fine to UEFA if they choose to show top flight football.1 point

I've gone for the blond Lowry like most others. He had a smashing game, and hope this is the lower end of the standard we can expect for our outlay. Raskin next in line but he looked jaded in the second half when Killie changed to a pressing game and he didnt have the freedom of the pitch to operate in. Raskin does look like a proper midfield player though and it makes it a sackable offence for Beale to select Lundstrum over him last week. I'm not getting over that any time soon. The worrying aspect was that while we put in only our third decent first half performance in 16 games under Sir Talkalot, in two of those 3 games we have not turned up for the second half. In the other 13 games we havent turned up for the first half and played better in the second half. Only Tynecastle did we put in a complete performance. One good game in 16. Somehow 14 wins have been miraculously achieved in that run, which is certainly papering over the cracks which are pretty wide if you peek under the paper. Onto Easter Road and another tough fixture at a difficult venue. Hopefully our last visit to Edinburgh inspires us.1 point

I'm glad most of our away games aren't televised at the moment.1 point

That lot have a bigger stadium and have been working a fairly successful player trading model for over a decade. It stands to reason that their finances will be in better shape than ours.1 point

Anderson potentially a cheap 3rd choice striker and its not a bad idea. I think Miovski and Duk would be far too expensive for us. Also i believe there were rumours we were after him in the summer.1 point

Finally got round to watching the highlights from Saturday's game. Still very puzzled as to how the Killie goal was allowed to stand for a clear foul on Goldson for climbing? Not one bit of discussion on this on Sportscene either. FWIW, I also felt our penalty was harsh.1 point

No problem I dropped some stuff off anyway.I don't do twitter or any of the so called social media sites but enjoy the banter on here and follow follow. Keep up the good work.1 point

Very impressed by Cantwell, but most folk around me (who hadn't left yet) were dumbstruck when the announcer said the sponsor's MOTM was Ben Davies. Not that Davies had a bad game but it was quite clearly Cantwell.1 point

No but it would be sensible to compare him with someone like Jota, Meada, Duk who have played similar minutes and have a far better output. These stats back up what I can see why my own eyes watching Kent for years, he is not clinical enough in front of goal. Compare that with Sakala who despite looking like a guy who won a competition to play for Rangers at times has a far better output.1 point

I would be keeping tabs on Anderson, Miovski and Duk, too.1 point

There are 5 Celtic players in that list who play Kent’s position. The lowest score from those is 9. Kent’s is 22.1 point

Our forthcoming summer recruitment is going to be vital. We can’t afford to make the same mistakes we’ve made the last two transfer windows. Many will be leaving. Perhaps only a couple out of contract will be offered new deals. The new signings must be better than we’ve been getting recently1 point
-
Those stats speak volumes. @Rousseau The least of our worries perhaps. But I think worth a discussion when approaching his contract situation and roi of any renewal.1 point

When we lose to them in the semis or final of the SC the knives will be out. It’s a sad reality but I can very much see it happening1 point

Go have a look at the accounts since the start of this century. They are well run. We have made strides but still can't get anywhere close. Just as you think we are close, another issue crops up and we fall down a snake (and ladders). Over the last few decades, we are a club that has developed the bad habit of not being able to operate within our own means. They have. That is the base of the problem. Our day to day management (to placate the support) isn't coherent, it is all over the place. Our finances are improving but as always, it comes down to the comparison with Celtic, rather than looking at the numbers by themselves. They had a dominant figure in charge for most of this century (Lawwell), he imposed his will (often to the dislike of their support) but he relentlessly pushed a culture that prioritised the bottom line and they put in place a steady and sound business model that works and is way ahead of where we are. Stick your head in the sand by all means but that is where Scottish football currently is.1 point

That article is spot on. We all know it. We aren't fools. The question is, is Michael Beale?1 point
-
I don’t think it’s a lazy appointment at all. In fact his record so far is much better than any of his predecessors. His values and strengths as a manager will no doubt match our recruitment policy of finding affordable young hungry players to lead us on. Not sure who else should/would have come in instead?1 point
-
I like Kent but I just want him to be more effective. I don't think he can, that's the problem. I am leaning towards replacing him.1 point
-
It’s all about money or in our case lack of it if our coffers were full and bulging Beale would never have got near the job until the financial bind is addressed then we had better prepare ourselves for the long haul . Mon the gers.1 point
