I’ve said it before the football served up by our lads is dire all this sideways shuffling and back passing then our left or right fullback launches a long diagonal ball its just a load of pish won’t ever win anything playing football like this never4 points

Apparently our summer signings have been unavailable for 43% of all our games this year. It makes sense, but I feel like we've been living with this injury situation for 20 years or longer now and it's only got worse over time. There has to be something fundamentally wrong at the club, surely?4 points

Is it not better to assume they keep making good decisions and plan accordingly, rather than just hoping for the best?3 points

Beale should have appointed a new captain the day he arrived back at Rangers ... but he didn't, and so signalled his priority, at least in the short term, was stability rather than revolution. To an extent his results show he has achieved that aim but in the end the upshot is the gap in the league race hasn't closed at all and the first trophy up for grabs is sitting in the Celtic trophy room. If that revolution doesn't come in the summer then Beale would be better joining the growing list of Rangers ex-managers who didn't know what they were doing. The appalling and inexplicable decision not to start his winter signings on Sunday and then not to use them when it became clear what was happening has understandably shattered confidence amongst the support.3 points

I'm more angry about this now and my thinking of the future team is changing. I actually think we need to renew McGregor's contract, we are in danger of losing everyone who knows what it means to play and fight for rangers. We can't have players with: - Fear (Barasic) - Apathy (Kamara) - Complacency (Morelos) We need players that understand every game, every cup is a must win. I think the only player in the squad that knows that is McGregor. For better or worse in the short term we need to clear out the squad almost completely. My fear is that the attitude of the players rubs off on to new signings and we end up in this horrible circle with an absolute lack of ambition. It's been too long now, we have a squad of serial losers and it's time most of them moved on.3 points

For some mysterious reason our Hall of Fame fullback and captain is contracted until 2026 so I understand it's difficult financially to get rid of him - but for God's sake can we please stop playing him in a defensive role that he has NEVER been any use at. Our other fullback I would sell at the first opportunity. We constantly play with half a back four.3 points

Perhaps, we also lost Dr Mark Waller in the summer who had a good reputation. Not sure we replaced him. The loss of that holistic top down medical strategist role certainly wouldn't help. I remember he was credited with our approach during COVID and why we had minimal positive cases during 55.3 points

I find it's those moments when it dawns on you the hope you had was an illusion. I had that moment when I logged in on Sunday and saw Beale's team selection. So many others saw it too ... that we were in the hands of another manager who would never deliver.2 points

I agree with every point you make and I have no answers to the questions you ask. It just feels like the board is consumed with caution in the short term and is incapable of radical action. It's an approach that seems to be permeating the whole club. Perhaps the board simply lacks the confidence required to be bold. Whatever the case we are, as you allude to, stuck in a rut and refusing to make the decisive changes needed to boost the club forward.2 points

If they have a coherent plan, it would be nice for them to share it with us fans. At the AGM Park was asked what the plan was and said "to win as many trophies as possible" (or such like). So how does Park define "as many as possible"? One cup every year, a league title every ten years? A run in Europe once ever 2 decades? How do the board plan to achieve as many as possible? The time to invest was after securing 55. Celtic reacted to us winning 55, we didn't and we are paying for that now. How long we pay for that is anyone's guess, but with no guidance or indication from the board on how the plan to address and bridge the gap, it looks like more pain and misery for a while.2 points

That's because we have 280 players worth 500 grand in our squad.2 points

I think we hastily extended him after his Europa league exploits in the belief another team would come in and we could sell him on for a bigger fee. Every time Celtic play us they attack down our right and simultaneously attack a weak spot and supress one of our most potent attacking options. Almost like some kind of effective tactical game plan.2 points

Back in the day, my local ice-hockey team ruled the roost, snatching 7 out of 9 league titles from 2005 till 2013, including a nice streak from 2011 to 2013. During the last stages of that era, they handed their stalwarts long contracts (which is rare in ice-hockey, where deals usually last a season or two, with options). What happened was that these players couldn't keep up with the demands, and it followed a long dire spell up until 2021, when the next title was one (and followed up in 2022). There were some highs in the 2018 and 2019 season, but ultimately, those long contracts cost the club dearly. There are no transfer fees involved in ice-hockey, so who pays the highest wages, offers a route to success, glory, fame and thus to the NHL / Russian League (and really good money). You simply can't pay people off (unless you have that much money) or send them packing. When you go back through the years, not only did we sign enough players not fit for the tasks required, but also handed out long contracts to people who simply aren't good enough on a consistent basis. And as we have seen, even in the days when e.g. a Kamara was shining, no-one happened by to snatch him up. Same with Morelos. Same with Tavernier, or Kent. Going what dross the Scum sold to the EPL for scandalous money, you do wonder why no-one showed up with real interest in our superstars? You would expect that the lower half of the EPL and upper half of the Championship would walk over glass to sign someone of the caliber of Kent, whose talents are wasted in Scotland, but who could well run amok in England. Or maybe, just maybe, those idiots down there are wise enough not to perceive his and other Gers "stars'" qualities through our blue glasses? No matter the failures of managers past, the present is what matters. So far, MB has lost but one game in his time at Ibrox, yet, it was the second most vital game in his stay here - a cup final at that. And we have seen hardly anything that shows us that the future looks in any way different than what we saw beforehand. We paper over wrong tactics with better players, instead of utilizing our squad and change the way we play. You can clearly see that the old hands can't get out of their old habits or keep up with their own high standards, while the new hands are shifted about the field to accommodate this or that player. Hence, there is no cohesion in midfield and amongst the attackers. It's been obvious for weeks now. Yet, we toil on with it ...2 points

I want to disagree to some extent. I don't believe they are asleep at the wheel. I think there are only two realistic possibilities.... 1. The board does not know how to push on from 55 and is floundering for a solution. 2. The boards does have a coherent plan for success but it's based entirely on sound finances that will takes several years to establish and is limiting the pace at which we progress. Personally, while I sometimes move between which of these options I chose to believe, I prefer to think the latter is true. We have owners who are painfully aware how close the club came to oblivion and are determined those risks will never be taken again. Some might call that chickenshit but perhaps time will prove otherwise. In any case, you pays your money and you takes your choice ... they stepped up when desperately needed and have bought the right to chose the business plan. This was always going to be a long game.2 points

All of this talk about an insurmountable gulf between us and them is a load of rubbish. They are better just now and there has been no debate for a little bit over a year. But we lost a cup match by a single goal at the weekend. In addition to that there are a couple of blatant errors from the management that may not happen in future. Mistakes in team selection are really easy to correct in future. Especially when you compare them to the problems that we have in terms of personnel. I mean you can't teach a fellow like Morelos to be the type of player that we need. He just doesn't get it and all we can do is wait for him to move on. I would bet against restoring Kamara. He appears to have lost interest altogether and we need to find a buyer as soon as possible.1 point

No I'm not implying that, I'm saying that assuming Celtic will perform worse as part of the future strategy is not wise. You have to assume they are going to keep going as they are and plan properly to account for that.1 point

This pretty much mirrors my own thoughts on the top level club vision. I wouldn’t say we are waiting on Celtic failing, probably looking at them and thinking they won’t get any better(rightly or wrongly). I do see much more positives from Beales early tenure than I did from Gio’s. But again we are relying on a manager who could leave at any time to lay out a vision for the club.1 point

I think the bottom line is lack of engagement and a clear plan that we can all see and whilst we may not all agree on it, I'm sure the vast majority would support it. This "win as many trophies as possible" but with bo apparent plan behind it is doomed to failure. We got a tantalising glimpse of how it should be when we won 55, got to EL final and sold Paterson, Bassey and Aribo for huge profits. Now we've stagnated (at best, maybe regressed is a more accurate description) and are falling behind our rival and it's hard to see how we bridge the gap. It's as if we are waiting on Celtic imploding again. Our board may have a masterplan, they may have financial backers lined up, they may have a short, medium and long term business and football plan. Maybe they are just keeping it a secret.1 point

Going back to Tavervier if he were to show so much attention to his defensive duties as the attention and fussiness he does when making sure the ball is a millimetre over the corner arc maybe he might improve!!!!!!1 point

Sorry, I would swap our recent European record for their recent domestic record. The next transfer window is huge and we must get it 100% correct.1 point

They have a little more money than us. Not sure their player trading model is that good. they haven’t won a European knockout tie (post Christmas) for what? 20 years. They have lightning in a bottle with the Aussie and his wee Japanese pals. Not sure their current squad is worth that much nor is transferable to a different manager. Things change quickly in football. We need to do better with what we have sure but let’s not get too negative. They are riding on the 2012 wave as much as we are still held back by it. Let’s give the manager backing in the summer and let Ross Wilson earn his corn by moving on the duds and the crocks. Catching them this year was always a big ask.1 point

Just disappointed we haven't a midweek game to catch up on the league program then again the lads might be exhausted after Sunday's exertions.1 point

They do get credit, but they must also take responsibility for our dire domestic situation and the apparent inability to get the investment we require to overhaul Celtic.1 point

When the do make mistakes (I.e Lennon coming back for 10), they act quickly, decisively and rectify the issue. They have more money than us, their player trading model is far better than ours, and from the outside / afar, their board act quicker than ours on all matters (helps when they have the media wrapped around their fingers). Just look at their recent domestic record v ours, it's night and day.1 point

Yet more worthless apologies for yet another weak-kneed capitulation in a cup final and it will be the same story next time too. Are we looking at serial losers? Do we need the biggest clearout in years?1 point

Tavernier is a complete liability in defence. If we have to play him then make it further forward where he can do less damage.1 point

Little protection from referees is certainly an issue and is something I think the club need to be vocal about when in fact we have total silence on this issue.1 point

I think GvB and his staff were responsible for a large part of the injury problem (excluding the perma-crocks). Our fitness, too, was superb until GvB's methods started to take over.1 point

I've voted for Cantwell because he shoved one of that mob over and looked up for it, which is more than I can say for the majority of our players.1 point

Who knows what Kamara and Lundstram are doing here? Answers on a postcard please. And watch Tillman dancing around being as effective as wet toilet paper.1 point
