  1. Very said to hear of John's passing. I got to know him from my time on the RST board and a more upstanding gentleman you'd struggle to meet. I always enjoyed bumping into him at games and will miss our quick chats outside Ibrox. Sincere condolences to his friends and family.

  2. You can be absolutely guaranteed that if Ange heads to Leeds they will be exclaiming that Pep really wants to manage Celtic. Nothing surer.

  3. I largely agree with this. So what if the owner puts money into the club through 3rd party sponsorship deals? Why should it be limited? As long as the cash isn't repayable then what's the harm?

  4. FOUR million more shares have been issued in Rangers' holding company - at a cost of £1million. The latest transaction in Rangers International Football Club PLC went through at the end of last month and was communicated on Companies House today. A total of four million shares were alotted - and bought at 25p per share. It's the first such transaction this year, and comes after similar allotments in two tranches of five million (£1.25m) and four million (£1m) in January and February of last year. It’s not known if the shares are being issued for cash investment or for the conversion of previous loans into equity. It comes after the Ibrox side announced their most positive set of results in a decade at the end of last year. The headline figure from the club's year-long figures up to the end of June was a turnover of £86.8million - a club record. That saw an operating profit of £5.9million - compared to an operational loss of £23.5m for the 12 months which immediately preceded it. And those figures didn't include the sales of Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo - and this season's Champions League money. The club saw a modest but important investment in players last month with the arrival of Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin. The likes of Douglas Park and John Bennett have previously committed to providing additional loan facilities to meet shortfalls but Gers last year hailed the success of the player-trading model. Park wrote in his annual report notes: "Off the field, and allied to performance on the pitch, we have continued to make enormous strides. "I am delighted to be reporting a Club record turnover of £86.8m for the year to 30 June 2022. "From this revenue, we returned an Operating Profit of £5.9m which represents an improvement of £27.6m on last year’s operating loss. "This demonstrates the success and progress achieved over the last 12 months. "During the year to 30 June 2022, we have raised new equity of £10.1m and taken on new debt of £3.6m to strengthen our financial position.”

  5. Did he not get hookers for all the Monza players when they got promoted to Serie A ? Elevates him in my book 🤣

  6. True and they are the best team to watch too. He owned AC Milan but hasn't been involved there for years. He bought AC Monza about three years ago and has elevated them from Serie C to Serie A. I just fancied taking in another game whilst I'm over there and Monza is only 25 minutes on the train from Milan and their main stand is brutalist architecture par excellence!

  7. Napoli are one of, if not THE, best team in Europe - great value bet for the CL during the group stages, even moreso now with Madrid, City, Liverpool all looking like weaker sides

  9. Is that not what we've been doing over the years? We got money from Enic, King, NTL etc, and more recently have been funded by our shareholders to a much greater extent than any other club in Scotland.

  11. John MacMillan was the best of old time Rangers supporters. He was a Kirk Elder and BB Officer. He had grace and charm. Any job taken on behalf of the RST Board was completed proficiently with courtesy.

  13. Scottish football is generally a low quality environment with very occasional glimpses of quality. From the general levels of professionalism of players, to the punditry and journalism, to the food kiosks, to the game itself. We put up with shite We watch shite We read shite We eat shite #Shite 😁

  14. Tbh they ain't stupid rules, don't get me wrong, they don't really work as designed at present, but they're designed to keep football competitive, and to potentially stop club owners doing a Barca. We may be a big fish up here compo, but if these owners were allowed carte blanch, then we'd get horsed even more than we did on the CL this season.

  16. A big part of this was the same problem we had under Gerrard, lots of creative players who want to be behind the ball. Not enough willing to make the run beyond and get into the box to get on the end of things. Morelos again often isolated when we had possession in advanced positions against many defenders. Would like the likes of Kent and Cantwell try to make the run into the box and try to attack a final ball instead of always wanting to play it.
